    I almost forgot how much fun it is to paint in pastels. Now that I found you, the spark is back. Thank you for your work, technical advice, warmth and the friendly atmosphere of your Sunday Studio. I feel inspired and ready to take my pastel boxes out of the drawer.

    Painted these in 2022. This is my second soft pastel painting and it doesn't look anything like yours 🤔. Well, I tried and finished. Did a small 4½ x 6. Will post on Instagram with a link back to this video. Really enjoying this media and your channel. Thanks for sharing. Love yellow as well. 💛💛💛💛💛

    I really enjoy watching the older videos, I still have so much to learn and remember going back to working with pastels! It has been over 30 years for my hiatus and I feel like a true beginner! Thank you for sharing your expertise with a lovely attitude and a joy to watch!

    While cleaning out a closet, I found a bunch of pastels I forgot I had. I brought up your video and tried to follow your demonstration, 'I quickly learned why these pastels were forgotten in the closet.I really don't like working with pastels. I have been painting with acrylics for years and find that medium to be the one I love. Thank you for the great demo.

    So enjoy your Sunday Studio series - and particularly love that Jenny adds her comments :-) Have recently moved house and pastels were packed away - but you’ve stimulated me to take them out again in a hurry :-)
    PS - live in George, Western Cape, South Africa (recently moved from Cape Town)
    Your Aspen colours are like our Wattles in Autumn - have painted them in aqua oils but now want to re-try in pastels - pity I don’t have access to Terry Ludwigs :-( Thanks for sharing.

    I miss your Sunday sessions. I'm watching the old ones over and over. This one is beautiful. How do you paint bare trees in the winter. The ones that have lots of branches far away. It always looks like a hot mess when I get done.

    Karen, great tutorial. I have a very yellow landscape I want to paint, so watched this for reference. I was wondering when you do your color study do you do an underpinning like you do on the main one?
    P.S. Loved the kitty helper at the end.

    • @KarenMargulis
      @KarenMargulis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! Sometimes I do but usually the color study is just to see the pastels I want to use and how they harmonize.

      Thanks for watching! We were trying not to move the camera too much because we have had complaints about that. We will zoom in at the end. You can always see a closeup of the finished painting on my blog www.karenmargulis.com

      Karen, If you lock your focus on the picture then it won't zoom in and out every time you move... If you aren't sure how to do it for your camera type, just google it:-) Once you do that, It will be in perfect focus on the picture and not confused every time you move! I am loving watching you painting with pastels, I am excited to learn this new medium! Thank you!!!!!
