People who got mad at him for his reaction with Thanos clearly forgot that reaction over his mother. The minute Gamora died you knew how Peter would react.
not just that. he has some massive father issues. when he learn what thanos do to his own daughter, it probably snapped something inside of him, something about his father ego and how he was ready to waste him for his own sick goals. his love for gamora aside, his hittig thanos doesnt feel like some simple emotional mistake, it was more like some serious psychological issue for him
Quill was one of 3 people to get Thanos' respect in Infinity War, the others being Wanda and Tony fi'ing Stark. This video is a well executed breakdown of why.
and what about Thor? he was the only one who arrived against the ray of 6 infinity stones. he could have killed him if he went for the head. he withstood the power stone when thanos tortured him with it. Now do not tell me that he did not deserve respect from Thanos.

He is in touch with his emotions and his heart more than he is with his brain and his rationale, yes, but why? Because HE IS HUMAN! And you, friend, have shown the best of that magnificently here.
