    There is definitely a lot of pressure put on people to use their tokens. I'd like to say 60% of our battles were won mainly from the enemy guild not having a good turn out with tokens. It's not like raids where if you miss one or two attempts it isn't the end of the world. Guild war has created a lot of shuffling of people to find a place where they can belong without worrying about this mode. I know for my guys we go the path of least resistance and look to secure easy wins. It's not worth moving up to a higher battlefield for a few more tokens when the win/loss rewards are exactly the same. Will see what type of shake up happens for next season. Thanks again for the shout out by the way!.

    Though I think the rewards could be improved and the season could be a little shorter, I really like Guild Wars. I like the way it rewards having a wider collection, I like that it encourages me to use characters that I don't normally use, and I like that it requires some teamwork

  • @trunkage
    @trunkage 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    First, merge war credits and guild credits, as well as their shop. Combining these lets us have more variety
    Second, the 60% health buff is so huge. To win, you have to target the Medicial centre. Even splitting the buff over multiple buildings would be beneficial

    My entire guild sees the rewards as too low to be worth making an effort for, but even if they improve rewards, real life means not everyone has enough time to play. No matter how repetitive onslaught is, it's a just a 5 minute commitment.
    Time is our main obstacle to take Wars seriously. So maybe it's a good thing rewards are negligible - doesn't feel bad if you lose or don't play

    Blank shards for any characters, and blank legendary shards for habilities, and legendary books too and orbs

  • @ArmContingencyCommander
    @ArmContingencyCommander 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

    Defenders get so many buffs and the rarity cap makes it very hard to clear certain zones. For example if you have uncommon rarity cap, it will be hard to clear even with legendaries as their power is drastically decreased while the defenders power is greatly increased to the point where only people with enormous rosters can clear it effectively without using too many tokens and teams. Some issues are genuinely present and people have their reasons to call it trash. You just say "Don't like Don't play". We lose good rewards by passing on guild wars and will miss out on unfarmable characters which are available in the war shop.
    Furthermore if your guild isn't big or powerful you will suffer greatly in the mode and most will pass the next time or join a different guild which is time consuming and you lose rewards. Snowprint should decrease some of the defender buffs like the medicae 70% hp buff is ridiculous when playing on uncommon rarity. They should also give us better rewards and make the war shop rotate so we get a bigger selection of rewards like the guild raid shop for example. For you this mode may be great but content creators have endgame rosters and mostly maxed teams. While people who don't have that will experience problems in guild war which the CCs may never even begin to comprehend.

      @deaddogtony1677 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ArmContingencyCommander fair enough if you don't like it, but I don't think the buffs are that powerful, they make a difference for sure, but in my opinion, unless you get really unlucky, you should be clearing most lineups in two goes, I've managed to clear teams that are 1.6 million in power with my 850k team in one go, plus I think without the buffs it's just even more arena. It's odd you moan about the caps, the caps mean that lower level players are more important, without them you'd just get steamrolled by more powerful guilds every time, our guild has only lost two battles out of thirty and I can't remember the last time our guild had more overall power. The only complaint I have is that the maps are designed to favour the defenders a bit too much and they're all in favour of ranged characters

    • @ArmContingencyCommander
      @ArmContingencyCommander 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @deaddogtony1677 And how will lower level players and midgame players deal with the caps when they run out of characters because of buffed meta teams placed specially in lower caps to cost attacks? You clearly have a huge roster since 850k is an average team for you so the issues don't affect you. No one is moaning I am just pointing out issues so people can see them and maybe someone can bring it to snowprint's attention.
      The caps do matter as lower level players often have to use many teams just to clear one team that they could normally clear with one attack but the buffs combined with caps will cost tokens and teams which don't refresh, which in turn is bad for people with smaller rosters and smaller guilds. You won't be able to see these issues as you are in a strong guild and have a big roster. The players I talk about won't even have a team close to 200k and you talk about 800k+...

    • @deaddogtony1677
      @deaddogtony1677 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ArmContingencyCommander that's my most powerful team by far and you've missed the point, the point being, if I can clear a team that's double the power of my best team in one go with all the buffs, it can't be as hard as you're making out. I think I must be missing your point with the caps, the way I see it, is that it's a good thing for the lower level players, because it means the power difference between you and a high level player is irrelevant, because if they're attacking your teams then they're capped, so they can't just blow your whole team away with one character. I always use all ten tokens and obviously not all of them will be absolute meta characters, so again, I don't get what you're saying, how many goes does it take for you to clear a line? I personally think people are most likely messing up if it takes three, it should only take two unless you get really unlucky with Taddeus messing you up first turn or something like that

    The artillery nearly takes out my characters even the ones in deep strike before I even move. Then my diamond 3 characters don't do any damage and they get one shotted. All for measly rewards and no one in my guild wants to play. I have had some who quit the game because of how stupid this mode is.

    I have the opposite problem. I really like my guild, great people, been in it for a long time.... But they don't give a crap about guild war and we consistently get curb stomped. I know I can leave, but its only a small part of the game, but one that I wish the rest of my guild would care more about.

    More rewards options would also be good. More slots in the shop- badges, orbs, XP books, more shards. It truly feels bad to play a gamemode where many people just hoard the currency cuz the rewards are totally uninteresting and overpriced for the time spent and the effort required to win.

    It's just 10 arena battles with a hilarious disparity between the enemies stats, so it's just playing 10 very hard arena battles over and over again, that's not fun for any players, specially if you consider the only significant change are numerical values

      I had more fun shooting structures in Eve Online then in guild wars here. And that is a very low bar. Structure shooting lead normally to relaxed fleet teamspeak, hillariously funny talks, until one of the scouts yelled "checkcheck", because of enemy forces heading towards us.

      No, you are not - some people in my guild love it -…but some do not and that’s causing friction and could lead to loss of members. As one member said ‚ I’m burnt out - children, holidays, work etc get in the way for some. The time commitment vs rewards is minimal.
      If there’s one constructive criticism I can offer it’s cut the number of wars down and seriously up the rewards

      I love it. But it’s a lot of pressure on the 20ish players in my guild to carry the other 10. It makes every decision much more critical especially when you’re an anchor player. (I’m level 49 and one of the six highest players with our highest being very casual except the for this mode where he always steps up and does maximum damage.) in fact I’ll be level 50 in a couple days making me tied for second highest player. We had 6 players not even sign up this time and I gasrantee 4 more won’t even take a single line. And yet we are constantly under 1,000 rank because those few are real keeners. I don’t want to kick out any more players…..

    I suggest you are wrong - your logic doesn’t make any sense to me - Guild Raids forces you to take part if you want the far more substantial rewards on offer for you and your guild for very little time
    It’s 21 ish battles per season _ Guild wars is 50/60 battles for minimal rewards
    I do think you are right that if it was 10 exp books a battle rather than 500 exp points difference win/lose there would be a lot more enthusiasm

    Going off what I've heard in my guild so far, two main reasons get brought up on why they have issues with Guild Wars.
    1) Rewards are lame. They feel like once you unlock Rotbone, it's not worth continuing to push for GW rewards. Rotbone definitely needs to be farmable for new players though, so him being in there is very good.
    2) Some of the buffs are overkill. Medicae can turn some units into uber tanks for no reason. And that combined with Armory and or Fortified Position buffs makes a perfectly winnable fight a nightmare that some people don't want to mess with.
    I get the logic of "it allows for lower level players to come in afterwards and clean up a team" but it seems to intimidate lower level players a lot of times to where they don't want to mess with it at all, and then you're SOL.
    That being said, I do like the LP buff being on the field. It's a "turn your brain off and don't worry about it" buff vs some of the other buffs that make you stare at the screen for 45 minutes just to figure out how to kill one lineup. That kind of time investment isn't worth it for most players. Goodness knows this game is a heavy time investment already.

    I also think that the game needs to reward flavor more. A big part of Warhammer is people liking the lore and designs. But there's no benefit to investing in your favorite characters unless they happen to be meta. A unique bonus, or even just a stat bonus, for running a mono faction team would take the competitive soul sucking edge off.

  • @josephbierzynski1884
    @josephbierzynski1884 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I know it would be more work, but it would honestly help if the highest tier was capped at diamond 1 or 2 for guild war. Maybe the defender could choose one lynchpin character to be diamond 3. The D1:D3 gap is a big part of the pain.

  • @deaddogtony1677
    @deaddogtony1677 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I personally don't get the hate, for me it's given me a reason to level other characters that otherwise would've just been gathering dust, it was starting to get boring just levelling the same ones for guild raids

  • @dafruk1
    @dafruk1 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Another consideration would be to allow players to 'trade' GW tokens like you trade guild artefacts. Every token you trade could also unlock 3-5 characters on the recipients roster to ensure they can play and not run out of characters.
    That would mean guilds dont get shortchanged but players arent forced to play the mode.

  • @AkselGAL
    @AkselGAL 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You are very "ingame" from your perspective.
    I was an Eve Online player. I'am used to hardship and 4:00 clock in the morning Call-to-Arms.
    I left my beloved Eve Online, because I became a father.
    The amount of daily fights to keep up stacks up on a level that is not justifiable for people having kids.
    Guild war is one more "lot of fights" added on a pile of "lots of fights".
    We have a low amount of time. It is okay to leave out and not compete with others with more time.
    But this takes the circle arround to the argument, guild war forces people to participate.
    My guild went for the obvious compromise. Everyone just register. Everyone just puts a defense that nobody cares for. Those who want to fight, fight and collect points, rest is not doing anything if the don't like to do something. Nobody tries anything to be competitive as a guild.
    Guild wars requires a participation of 100% of the force. Really, I would love to sit those game designers for an night into an Eve Online Teamspeak, when the Fleetcommanders are content to have 10% and are in tears of joy if 20% are fighting. Also this means hundreds to thousands of people joining fleets.
    A solution that reguires 100% is insane. Instead of an dynamic system and a pool of fights to be grabbed.

  • @novograd123
    @novograd123 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I think PvP in guild wars would be best, but we would wait so much for each other for battle start.
    Some improvement into battles would be buyable buffs in your guild. Like you complete challenges, you would donate some items and guild leader will choose some permanent upgrade.
    To the reward of guild wars. They would be more rewarding. Example for every destroyed square you will gain some reward. artillery position 3 random shards for flying units, headquarters bunch of gold, fortified position random legendary orb, etc.

    I disagree with train of thought a little. I think it's the contributing factors that are 95% of the problem, not the forced to play, and your fix address one of those contributing factors. Wouldn't your fix being able to choose the number of guild members that enter war, so you exclude those who don't want to participate, in increments of 5 say.

    The beter the rewards, the bigger the gap between hardcore and casuals. The better the rewards, the bigger is the pressure in each war. Any game needs both casual and hardcore players, but you always need to balance your game so that any player felt his input matter. Huge rewards for hardocre mode will bring a tiny amount into GW and a huge amount out if the game. Not to mention that the atmosphere within guilds will suffer

    Adding "insane rewards" to Guild War is not the solution because it will only add MORE pressure to people who don't want to play it. Tournament Arena does not offer insane rewards, yet many people enjoy it because it's competitive and fun for them. Guild War is the same. Guild War is a game mode that offers fun and competitive play as its highlight feature, not rewards. There is not much difference in rewards whether your team wins or loses. You're still going to get enough currency to unlock Rotbone and buy Legendary items. Guild War is BY FAR the game mode I enjoy the most. Of course I want my team to win but if we don't, so be it. I still get to have fun using my entire roster, strategizing, and discovering new synergies with my lineups.

    Two points as a F2P (mostly) player of less than a year.
    It's UNBALANCED, not like "oh this is better than this or you need this" it's when you have a S1 Bellator that does zero damage against enemy IRON units. I don't care what the battlefield bonus from a tile you haven't destroyed is giving.
    If I can get my entire squad 1 wiped by an opponent single unit, then I should be able to at least be on level ground for units less than me. To me it feels like (If defending, no unit under gold 1 legendary will hurt me) but (if attacking, you are absolutely vulnerable to anything the enemy has.)
    Also your carrot "and" the stick analogy is off. You have an image of a carrot pierced by a random branch. The Carrot ON the stick reference is to when carriage pilots used bait or food on the end of a rod or stick to entice the mule/horse etc to blindly move forward in hopes of receiving the carrot they cannot reach. Your analogy claims the carrot is the reward and the stick is not getting rewards if choosing not to partake in an event.
    The real Carrot and the stick for this game is the carrot being rewards, and the stick being endless avenues for trying to power up team.

    You know what, I'd find guild war more fun if there was no reward. I have not yet bought anything from the store, I already have rotbone to a pretty high tier, 4 red skull before event started when I only have 2 diamond units even now. I've just been saving up for when the shop presumably rotates.
    My guild has settled on being very casual with it, we tend to only get 16-20 sign ups let alone people using all their attacks. Makes me kinda sad because it makes it pointless for me to try and I'd like it to be worth my time.

    Because GR is also imposed, even more than GW. But GR gives more rewards.
    Also, GW and GR are not esential for playing the game at high lvl? Then how do you define high lvl play? Building D3s and not using them anywhere besides arena?Want it always defined by high lvl in GR and now also in GW? Also how get XP without GR? Tbh I dont understand those points.
    And the anwser is the same and boils down still to the investment of time to the gains ratio you have said are not the main factors?

    if we compare GW with GR they have alot of similarities... Both are required in order to join a guild etc and both are giving tokens for you to choose your reward out of x amount ... i agree that GW rewards should be better but i dont understand why ppl find GR mandatory and good and GW crap... i see in alot of streamers/ creators that GR is considered the "main" aspect/event in tacticus and still ... its crap... if u exclude the tomes rewards also suck like in GW.. personally i find GW more fun because the AI is less scripted compared to GR bosses in which u do the same thing over and over again without thinking tactics and team combinations... unless u are in the top 100 lets say guilds, u should participate in the war no matter the result and do your best... 10 fights (if we assume that u have the wide roster ) is not more time consuming vs 10 battles in GR.... great video tho :)

    Hang on. So, to fix a game mode that people don't like, you want to force people to play it because the rewards are too good? Doesn't that seem a bit counter intuitive? Don't fix the actual problem, just shove it down peoples throats even more.
    And people do complain about onslaught and salvage run, it's just that, as someone else said here, it's a much smaller time commitment. Time is increasingly becoming the most scarce resource, not XP, orbs or badges.

    I think we need to be ok with tiered rewards...
    To keep game progress balanced you need to have:
    - some easy / profitable modes for casuals
    - you need some grindy / lame ass rewards for the people to grind out but not get too far ahead
    Like good monetization deals versus whale bait.
