The thing I like about playing a caster is you can, for the most part, switch between all of these different forms of casters and gameplay styles. I like the variety!
Right so he’s showing us what each spell looks like at max level, super late game, just to optimize . Super helpful and you can take his info and build a hybrid mage more calculated now
@@topdeckhelix8450 Got it on point! When we play a Sorc-builds normally we DEFINITELY mix these spells together, but this study did help us perfect that hybrid caster!
@@quietkingzcan we expect a “our perfect hybrid build video” I really enjoyed this one and as a caster main who felt like something was just kind of missing would love to see your favorite hybrid
I’m planning to stay relatively loyal to carian magic in my knight build run, basically sword and shield type and I found out carian knight is the best build to rock. edit: HOLY CRAP, ok im rocking the night and flame build where most of my stats are on intelligence and by the gods this build melts bosses.
For anyone wanting to do a proper death build, go with a normal faith build in the beginning, then when getting to Altus go with Golden Order (adding int to your build), then to death since all the spells you need are melted by a golden order build and requires the same stats.
Been looking everywhere for a review on the different sorceries, this is everything I was looking for! The fact there's an aesthetic scale is a nice touch... an important one at that haha. Thank you!
Ya know, i jumped on the elden ring train waaaay late. Like... Im brand new. Just beat radahn, first playthrough, 63 hours in kinda new, and you guys are SO helpful, i dont really follow people, so when i look something up and i hear the same, analytical, professional, tone of voice, im like damn, these dudes again? And that earned you a follow.
Great video! My only critique would be that some builds had a weapon with an ash of war while others did not. For the thorn sorcerer if going the faith route would recommend a blasphemous blade aesthetically or the arcane route a bleed weapon with blood tax. either of these would mitigate the life loss with added life gain and make up for the melee deficiency.
Great video, 3/3 on presentation, 3/3 aesthetic, 1/3 for audio quality though. I’d like to offer a solution: your mic sounds decent, but the biggest and easiest thing you can work on to improve your voice recording quality is “room treatment”. For under 50 bucks, you can pick up some packing blankets, and simply hang those on any walls you have near your recording area. You will be amazed at the difference in recording quality. Good job fellas!
Still a shame that catalysts don't have access to the spell-like Ash of Wars. Imagine if they gave the Meteorite Staff access to the gravity AoW like Gravitas.
@@spacewizardpip1111 Yup, the only catalyst in the game that has a decent ash of war. It's 1 of 3 AoW available for all of the catalysts. A staff with 'Ice Spear' would've been amazing.
What about a draconic caster-hybrid builds in general, like this one I came up with? This build was made with an emphasis of focusing on the color (red and grey) when choosing the spells, armor and weapons. Tarnished Archeologist made a video about the meaning of color in Elden Ring so I wanted to try and make a build (dragon build) based on that. The items go as follows: Spells: -Dragonmaw (great against Night's Cavalry, Bloodhound Knights and other moving targets due to its tracking and poise; breaks crystallians easily) -Lansseax' Glaive (AoE for groups of low-tier mobs) -Agheel's Flame (boss nuke: fire-vulnerable targets) -Ancient Dragon's Lightning Strike (even bigger boss nuke for fire-resistant targets) -Flame Grant Me Strenght or Howl of Shabriri (damage buff) -Healing Spell (Heal, Great Heal or Erdtree Heal; Not thematically fitting but the build needs this as explained later) And for the rest of the 4 remaining slots you should choose something that fits either thematically or in terms of color (red and grey). The offensive spells listed above are all draconic spells so they are enough for a build to be branded as a draconic build in my opinion. Since there are still 4 more slots, we can increase our casting power and spell diversity even more. Also, I wanted to use a dragon head that goes well with Dragonmaw in terms of color. Dragonclaw and Greyoll's Roar also fit with the two, but they are both close range spells and Dragonclaw is not as good as Dragonmaw and the Roar's 10 % debuff is not worth 2 spell slots since you could practically just throw a freezing pot on the enemy (20 % debuff) or use buffs to get a better, more potent effect. I personally used the additional spells: -Giantsflame (2 memory slots; used against hard-to reach targets and mid-tier targets or some bosses) -Flame Cleanse Me (since I don't have enough boluses) -Pest Threads (lock-on and long range; the threads are kind of white-grey) The last 3 spells came from an idea wherein my goal was to make a character with the aforementioned focus and with Caelid-like twist (Radahn's forces fight the Rot with fire, Flame Cleanse me is very good against Rot and Pest Threads are typical in Caelid). In terms of the spells, this selection has so, so much power literally in terms of pure damage and also thematically since the color red signifies power in Elden Ring as well as vigor for example (source: Tarnished Archeologist). Armor: Banished Knight (Altered) Set or some pieces of the set such as the helmet and the chest piece. Melee weapons (pick one or more of the following): -Reduvia (mostly for its AoW) -Scavenger's Curved Sword and/or Bandit's Curved Sword (dual wield) -Commander's standard (buff) -Partisan (spear) -Rogier's Rapier (has a red mid-section so this one counts as well) Lastly, I want to say a quick tip about the healing spells in this build and illustrate the playstyle: Use the healing spells for healing instead of flasks as often as possible because this build eats FP more or less depending on what spells you use the most, and as such you preferrebly need 2/3 of your flasks for FP. But still keep a couple of red flasks for emergencies. As a tip: You can get the most out of the FP flasks by equipping Cerulean Scarab helmet and Cerulean Seed (if I recall correctly) talisman for 10 % and 15 % more FP per flask when you can safely drink your flasks (220 FP becomes ~ 290 FP). For offense, use Dragon Communion Seal. Erdtree Seal is only for heals and possible weapon buffs (because only Faith portion applies). The spells are focused to work mostly as ranged options and for groups of targets or priority targets such as bosses or other difficult enemies. With 14 flasks in total (11 FP, 3 HP) I can clear pretty much all areas with spells alone but to avoid the risk of running out of FP, I suggest using melee weapons at some times, especially against weak mobs. As such, the melee weapons are also important this build. And the melee weapons are in my mind superior options to something like Catch Flame which could be also used for common ad-clear.
One more thing: the talismans could focus on increasing your damage. I run with a full row of damage-boosting talismans and I can say that the game feels quite fun during boss fights even though this is my first Fromsoftware game.
This is an amazing idea/ inspiration for a build. Extremely detailed and prepared. Props man! We are gearing up a few more tier lists and we have a dragon themed build in the video, and will do an incantation test, too (like this video but for incants).
Fires deadly sin, zamor ice storm. Dark moon then then go in with fires deadly sin to remove frostbite as soon as they get it, keep casting ice storm to repeatedly proc frostbite. This is the best way to do it.
great vid and thank u for adding the "Ease to Acquire" bit for people like myself who are not soulsborne and prefer their challenges a bit less challenging lol
Love the video! Personally I play a sorcerer on my Lord Voldemort cosplay, who is just a glass cannon of faith and int. Personally I use a little bit of every class of sorceries/incants to keep it as fun (and kinda HP looking) as possible.
That sounds awesome! The Cast-all build (int/ faith) took me to NG+6 in just hours to be honest. I had a spell layout for every specific boss, downing each boss in seconds. The glass cannon edge definitely keeps the gameplay fresh. Speaking of cosplay builds, you'd like what we have coming up! Stay tuned!
My first character was a gravity Greg and rock sling is so painful in open world, especially when you’re in a tight corridor and both the left and right rocks get clipped by the walls. I found myself using the glintstone pebble line of spells in those cases
I have a variation on the carian knight and gravity builds. Neither build uses specific armor or weapons anymore, since my stats are so high, but here are my recommendations . Carian knight: Use either the Dark Moon Greatsword or Loretta's War Sickle, Silver Mirror shield, the Lusat staff, and the spells Glintstone Pebble, Carian Slicer, Carian Piercer, Adula's Moonblade, Greatblade Phalanx, Loretta's Mastery, Terra Magica, and Comet Azur. Take the Magic Scorpion Charm, Graven Mass Talisman, Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman, and either the Radagon Icon or Primal Glintstone Blade. Gravity: Take either the Fallingstar Beast Jaw, or the Wing of Astel, the Silver Mirror shield, Meteorite staff, and the following spells. Glintstone Pebble, Gravity Well, Collapsing Stars, Rock Sling, Stars of Ruin, Meteorite, Meteorite of Astel, and Founding Rain of Stars. Same talisman choice as above.
This builds are great and really well thought out! If you're going to use the dark moon greatsword or lorettas sickle, especially for the AoW, I would through in Shard of Alexander to buff them! Thanks for sharing these builds, we are definitely going to try them out!
I beat the game at NG+++ with the blood mage build, and found it’s very fun and shockingly powerful. Especially with Seppeku Ash of War. It will proc Lord of Blood and White Mask
Blood mage was an unexpected gem for me too! I just wish it had a couple more spells to really make it feel complete. Seppeku is a perfect solution, it just didn't fit with the aesthetic of the build. 👍🏼
A hugely missed thing is stacking the damage on staff passive. If you are going for specific schools you want to dual the same staff to grant the stacking % damage as it DRASTICALLY increases the damage.
Agreed! We dual wielded staffs for a few of these builds, but often times you'd get more of a damage increase by having the jellyfish shield's contagious fury, especially if you are mixing schools of sorceries 🦾
@@themuffinprincesa21 Unfortunately, contagious fury expires the second you swap the shield out. We tested again to double check this. We found there was a bug that would keep it up even after swapping occasionally, but that was patched out in 1.09. Check out the deets on eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Contagious+Fury
Amazing detailed look, I enjoy the scaling scores too. Would enjoy seeing this over FTH and arcane spell builds. However I play high level and use all 12 spell slots I can for each boss encounter. I am the All Knowing
Ambush shard is good for punishing things that keep people still. Ugs and casts that keep you in place get chipped by it in pvp at 125, 50 int, no staff of loss. But on a mixed tree sorcerer, it works well for a 3-hit combo (full charged glintblade with a delayed gravity well or collapsing stars, if gravity hits, immediately cast ambush shard since the pull will keep them in the path of the shard)
Y’all do great videos. The scoring system is great. My favorite build video of all time is Vaati’s. I know it’s not an easy feat putting together builds like he did but I think you’d get a lot of traction on high quality, unique builds that leverage different mechanics and how they intertwine. Ex. His paladin build & his Spiral Sorcerer in that video
My favorite intellect build is a warrior wizard build where first and most importantly you have to look good so use the beastmaster set with the altered chess piece with the awesome cape and the great helm cuz it goes good with that set. My two main weapons are the sword of night and flame and the darkmoon gs. In my offhand I used to carian knight shield and the carian royal scepter.. I usually just stick with using all the sword spells.. carian slicer and great sword abdulas Moon blade.. rebuild is unbelievably fun at like level 200 to 250 where you have more points to pump in FP .. once you get a good deal of FP hell you can just run the staff in your main hand with the shield and use nothing but sword sorceries it's an absolute blast
That cape completes one of the cleanest looks in the game! I wanted to through moonblade in Carian Knight build too. No reason not to when playing... that stuff buffs the moonblade damage too!
@@quietkingz yeah man i think its the baddest @$$ armor in the game.. put the great helm on The one that looks like something Lance a lot would wear back in the medieval days and bro u look sick asf.. the sword of night and flame is just so fun to use to and it all goes together
I realized fire resets frost procs mid way through the game and lemme tell you it changed everything, I figured frost wasn't a main attraction to most players so I went with it. But when I frosted the same boss thrice? Absolute gamechanger (fire giant)
I know this is a Caster Focused build video but for example if you worked in the Gravity Based Weapons like Ruins Greatsword, Starscourge Greatswords, Fallingstar Beast's Jaw, Meteoric Ore Blade Katana, Onyx Lords Curved Greatsword, Wing of Astel Curved Sword, and Bastards Stars Flail, as well as Regular Weapons that use the Gravity based Ashes of War like Waves of Darkness, Gravitas, and Cragblade I think it would make the Gravity Build way more capability and you'd have an option to easily handle any and every enemy in the whole game.
We thought about including something about how each build performs mounted, but decided to leave it out. Do you think we should include it in future videos?
How about a star storm build utilizing the Storm Blade ash of war, the Freezing Mist and Founding Rain of Stars sorceries, and a lightning attack like Frozen Lightning Spear, Lightning Spear, Honed Bolt, Lightning Strike, or Vyke's Dragonbolt? Night Maiden's Mist and Eternal Darkness can be optional spells for this set. Same goes for Ice Lightning Sword as an optional replacement for Storm Blade.
@@quietkingz I think this build would work very well in PvE as it has two to three crowd control options and relatively fast range attacks paired with a reliable melee weapon. There is even some defensive utility makeshift or otherwise. Though I don't have a clue as to the armor sets.
Excellent. Best compilation build video I've seen yet. Would like to see your take on a Health Regeneration build - no health flasks. Well done and subbed and belled. Cheers, Harry.
One of the great things with sorcery based builds though is you generally don't need to respec to swap builds you just swap equipment because that have more or less the same attributes unless you are planning to swap on heavy armor or take a greatshield. Also the melee caster builds like rogiers do well in PvP because every time you close the opponent doesn't know whether to expect a weapon attack, a fast magic sword, or you to swing a telephone pole at them making dodge timing difficult to judge, mix in some ranged options and it can be hard to deal with
True! What's nice is that most of these sorceries can be used interchangeably without needing a respec or much shift in gear. I think that makes sorceries that much more enjoyable
I would actually say the Gravity Greg build is missing a key component of being more of a battle-mage than a straight wizard. Collapsing Stars works a lot better when you can follow it up with a Fallingstar Beast Jaw jump slam. The most famous gravity wizard in the Lands Between is also known for being a renowned warrior, after all.
That makes a lot of sense. Part of why it got ranked so low was because it was poor in open world, and a mele weapon like the beast jaw would make it feel more complete. It would also pair nicely with a weapon using a gravity ash of war like waves of darkness.
@@quietkingz Or Onyx Lord’s Greatsword. Its Repulsion AoW is a nice followup to Gravity Well or Collapsing Stars after enemies are pulled close, or even just on its own as well
Very well edited and useful video for someone needing info for magic schools. My only criticism is the pvp portion being misleading/pointless. From my own experience and from watching people much better than me play against and as sorcerers in pvp, just about any spell can be extremely useful given the right context in a fight, chain casting, and being unpredictable/baiting. Any effective pvp sorcery play isn’t confined to using one school of magic. Doing so would only handicap you if your goal is to be as effective as possible. One example is opening with collapsing stars for its relatively low FP cost to damage ratio, forcing enemy to doge, followed by magic glintblade and another sorcery that you can chain at the end to guarantee damage for a roll catch if they stay in range of you.
Tibia summons is a good ambush spell and is great on larger foes that cant get out of the way. Against faster targets you need to rely on ancient death rancor's hit stun and poise damage to score hits. Its a good combo spell. If you toss out a rancor spell then immediately cast tibia summons that should improve the odds of hitting as trying to dodge one spell usually gets you hit by both. Tibia also shares a casting animation with explosive ghost flame
My mage build Black dumpling helm Blaid armor Azur's gauntlets Spellbade trousers. Lusat's staff Comet Comet Azur Night comet Terra magica Talisman: Graven mass Godfrey icon Scorpion charm Milicents prosthesis Wondrous physik: Magic shroud Thorny Crack Incantations (fingerseal) Howl of Shabriri Golden vow Ps4 L1 (Use howl of Shabriri to cause madness, makes black dumpling helm deal 30% more damage add Golden vow for additional damage. Also jellyfish shield adds more damage.)
Should give gravity greg (1st build) the meteoric ore blade. Im on my 9th playthrough and decided to use gravity. Got the ore blade in main, meteorite staff off hand. Gravitas is better than most videos ive seen say. And having a themed katana solves the weaknesses of the build
Strange thing mages dont usually use bloodhound step ash of war. For example B.Step+ night comet+golden vow can destroy most of the bosses in early-middle game with no problem , and it is really fun to become anime character constantly teleporting from enemy in fashion :D
Wouldve been cool to see a tier list for top 10 'sorc' casters. Then incan builds, then a vid doing mixed incan/sorc, then, finally, a vid comparing the top 3 of each would be fun. Just dont limit them to1 type of school
I feel like if this was a spell sword included list the death mage would be number 1. I'd like to see another list of spellswords as there's alot of cool weapons that enhance these builds significantly.
Would receive a shit ton of likes and subs to no end, if you'd include stat build with each one. Your only kicking all of us in the balls here, no big deal right? lol
I am about level 300 and NG+6 and 7 for this testing. I had 80 Intel/ 80 faith to midmax scaling for prince of death's staff (80 is the last soft cap, everything after is subtle but you can max it out if you want), 60 vigor, 20 strength and 14 dex (to use jellyfish shield), about 40 in endurance and the rest in mind. The faith and 25+ endurance that I have are the lowest priority for this build so if you cannot spare it, choose those last. Let me know if you have any other questions! Enjoy!
I agree! The candlestick would be an epic fit for this build. If you have the patience, farming out a second magma blade and going magma melee is super fun, too!
Really good video. I started out as mage. Later fll in love with the melee builds. but now that i amin ng+4 i want to try magic again. def. going to try out some the builds.the last one is the best and so nice but. shard spiral on elden beast is so goood
Mage builds are definitely epic, but unlike what we did in this video, you can add a combination of ALL spells to your arsenal to fight specific bosses. If you like melee, you may really enjoy the feel of the Carian Knight or Rogier!
Just a heads up about the Ambush Shard. While it's obviously not designed for power, it is designed for hurting foes from a distance and normally it would only be okay at best. I found out through another You Tuber that it's range can be increased by wearing the talisman that increases the range of arrows/bolts (I always forget the name of it) and that's what made it a much more viable option for me*. Again, it's not great power-wise so I'd probably not use it against overly tanky foes, it is great for small/smallish foes that like to use shields (such as knights, maybe excluding the CKs though) and where distance is needed, especially as a glass cannon (and knights in general don't tend to mess around). Also, I'm pretty sure you *CAN* get another Carian Regal Staff on your first playthrough via duplication. *Forget to add it also increases the range of a few other spells like Great Ocular Bubble, Rock Sling and one or two of the Bestial incantations I think (though surprisingly not Loretta's Great Bow spell).
Mages are super fun! Great video! Shout outs to Gravity Greg. Not a criticism -- but rather a suggestion -- maidenless tho I be: In PVE (don't do much PvP so idk) -- in cases where you used the Radagon Icon -- potentially think about switching that out for one of the Dragoncrest Shield Talismans. Mage gear has good magic/holy/fire/cold etc damage resistance -- but is essentially tissue paper when it comes to getting hit by a big stick. I've found swapping the Radagon Icon out for the Dragoncrest brought the physical resistance up so non-physical and physical resistance were basically at parity -- and in most cases better than armour. The slight decrease in casting speed you lose from the Radagon Icon can be made up by taking the levels of stamina you need to wear heavier armour and putting it into dexterity (offsetting the virtual 30 dex it gives you). By all means -- not a perfect 1:1 trade off -- but you'll notice the tankiness before you notice the casting speed decrease. (Not sure if the Radagon Icon adds more frequent ticks of damage during Comet Azur -- but I haven't built a Death Star out of early 90's teenage angst fuel resistance to what's popular -- so I'm not sure.) Thank you for putting this together -- I haven't tried the blood mage or that lava mage yet and I'm looking forward to those. Any reason to re-play a game you love is a good one.
Makes sense Fork Farm. I use the dragoncrest pretty often for bosses when I know I will be taking damage from them (meaning I still am not really used to their specific move set). The only reason we chose it over the dragoncrest is because we would rather optimize for damage increase/faster casting in most scenarios rather than defense. It does speed up the initial cast of Comet Azur, but doesn't increase the frequent ticks unfortunately. In a perfect world, we'd have both talismans, but the gods only graced us with 4 talisman slots. 😩
@@quietkingz It's true -- the best way to avoid getting hit by something is if it's dead already! Never a bad strategy. That's good to know about the icon and the ticks on Azur -- Thank you! -- but I wish there were more ticks! And for sure -- the gods are stingy with the pockets. It is kinda funny to think that the tailors and armour smiths of The Lands Between haven't unlocked 5 pocket technology. "Boosting the power of the lasers you shoot out of your eyes? No problem. FIVE POCKETS!? You mad bastard -- no wonder you're maidenless."
The magma build using magic shrouding cracked tear instead of fire, why? Do the spells still deal magic damage? Also, the Carian Knight sword has Carian Grandeur, so why not use it in the set? Better for those big bosses.
So many things to say... not sure I even remember all of them. For the squishier builds: with the high level, light roll should be achievable and that is an extremely powerful defensive tool both in pvp and pve, with pvp having as effective counters only a couple of weapon classes and only if the opponent knows the timing to roll catch. For pve it's still powerful, but requires knowledge of the various enemy attacks to be properly used. Still, I'd bump defense up at least half a point for this. Rogier's build has access to a rapier, one of the strongest weapon classes for pvp. With the magma build, the magma blades can actually be very powerful, especially if you accept the option of dual wielding, but even with just one, curved swords were recently buffed and are quite strong. As for the defense side, the access to heavy armor and some of the spells being good for area control means that the potential in pvp is high, but it needs mastery and fire is an element that can easily suffer weather and terrain penalties. Bosses are probably the weakest point, with fire giant on top. I'd touch up the rating on any build making use of carian slicer, with proper buff stacking any boss will die quite fast, even with high health pool, and the spell is great in pvp. For the stealth/night mage, if you add assassin's gambit to the build you gain a lot lf strength. For one, it works on certain bosses if you are far enough, allowing you to set up the fight, this being and especially common strategy for godskin duo. The biggest strength though lies in the sinergy with the invisibility spell in pvp. If you cast assassin's gambit first and unseen form after, enemy players won't be able to lock on to you, which makes hitting you that much harder, especially if you also light roll. This is a really strong defense in pvp. For the prince of death, and any other build capable and allowed to wield it, I suggest accounting for the availability of the death ritual spear. With the recent buffs, on top of the spear moveset which is still one of the best in game, the ash of war spearcall ritual is extremely powerful right now. In pvp, it pairs in a quite nasty combo with the invisibility of the night sorcerer with assassin's gambit. The death sorcerer can stat wise, though it doesn't fit as well thematically, wield the sword of night and flame. The gravity mage could be paired with gravity themed weapons and/or ashes of war for extra options. The meteoric blade comes to mind, but at high level the fallingstar beast jaw should be an option too, both adding some much needed melee and open world power. Zweihander with waves of darkness can also be a very powerful option in pvp if properly timed.
These are such good insights Feanor! We didn’t really account for the light load dodge rolling, however I don’t think we were at that light of a load for any of the builds. I supposed dropping one of the staffs of guilty for the blood mage could drop down to a light load, but at that point you’d be sacrificing damage for dodge roll increase, and we generally try to increase damage as much as possible. I actually didn’t know about assassin’s gambit as a damage buff or as an ability that removes an opponent’s lock on in PvP! That sounds wild! Remember, this is all in good fun and comes from a genuine enjoyment of elden ring. Our rating system is always going to have flaws and be subjective to our personal experience. But learning from other players and adjusting our rating system with each video is going to help us refine our videos that much more. 😊
Death’s poker is a solid option as well! We originally planned to make a pure frost build that incorporated death’s poker, but enjoyed the magic mike build more, and ended up cutting it from the video.
So in defense of tibia summons try using rosus axe. The ash of war did much better damage it was just a timing issue. Sorry for the terrible grammar I can't English today
Enjoyable vid. I go for Comet/Azur, but my offhand is the Sacred Relic Sword. SRS is far superior for AoE and in PvP also knocks down foes, allowing you to get several casts off while they are slowed with that. This is my 4th run (to get 100% Achievement) but the caster is so much more effective at damaging, and I use the dung easter as my Ash summon, due to its ability to pull agro and debuff the boss. My armour is Tree Crucible knight and Royal Carian staff (off Rennala). In most cases - it's a cakewalk.
@@quietkingz I've gone for the Dung Eater as I can let it get agro before doing damage, and the mimic is as squishy as I am now. Saying which - with Tree Crucible armour..the mimic is not so. It was when I used cloth. I'm sure the mimic will be better. If I watch it I can see what it thinks the best spells are
Excellent video!! I just started my 1st NG+ and have everything for the Lusat build already. What would you recommend for the stats? 😀 Obviously 90 Int but then prioritize mind and vigor ? Thank you!
Dl this game yesterday, really enjoyed the video. Also I like how you scaled everything including aesthetics 😂. Def got a sub from me! Any tips for new players ?
Quick tip: Dying is gonna happen A LOT and it doesn't always mean your build is bad! We are doing a video coming up on strong builds that you can utilize before even facing the first boss. That guide will cover a ton of early game build tips and tricks. keep an eye out! Are you new to Elden Ring exclusively or new to all soulslike games?
It's a shame that there is no weapon or ash of war, for weapons that you can use it also as a catalyst. It would be the perfect thing for the carian knight sword. It would also be very cool if we could swap abilitys on another armor. Imagine using the abilitys from Roger's set on Carian knight set or any set with high defense would be so awesome.
great video, this was a really cool comparison! I also hate the jellyfish shield (ugly, plus it feels morally wrong somehow? lol) do you have any suggestions for an alternative to it?
Yeah it sucks lol. Our only reason for using it with the Azur/Lusat builds was for the 20% damage increase on the ash of war to OP Comet Azur and Stars of Ruin. So if that’s your goal, Golden Vow might be a good alternative. It’s a 15% damage increase, but it also buffs all damage negation by 10%. The Carian Knight Shield is a solid alternative as well.
Id like to see the incantation version of this video i went with a blood dragon commun build with a occult flamberge with double slash to make a better rivers of blood and with the roar, godfrey, flocks talismans between ezekys decay smarang and borialis mist blood flies and black flame swapped between tear mask and gold scarab i didnt need more then 2 trys for any boss
Why does Gravity Greg at lvl 300 use the Twinsages lol. Kinda just taking a hp loss. Movin on from that, really good video, as an INT caster from Ds1-Elden Ring this was pretty cool. Well Ds2 was Hexes but I used only Dark Sorcery lol.
It’s by no means required haha. We just thought it looked funny and if you’re at a lower level, it might be the extra points needed to get to 80INT. But glad you enjoyed the video! More on the way soon.
We honestly just threw immersive feeling weapons on the main hand since we wanted to focus on sorcs. To max sorc damage, it would actually be more useful to break into other spells that aren't in this school like terra magicka. Also dual wielding staff or using jelly fish shield would offer more spell damage output. For melee, the death's ritual spear actually does really well, especially since the AoW was buffed in 1.09, and combos well with rancors. Death's poker also does extremely well and fits lore-wise. I would recommend those weapons if sticking to the theme.
So, originally, I thought that the damage buff would stack moon casting with both staffs. I found out that they didn’t, but I got used to using both to cast spells (alternating between R1 & L1). And I just liked the symmetry of two regal scepters. You can swap one, or both, out for Azur’s staff or carian glintblade staff when using adula’s moon blade for extra damage.
Slicer is definitely the bread and butter, especially when it has a sprint and jump attack. Though, against large bosses in NG+6, it can take a minute to chip them down compared to our other builds
@@alswearengine4867 Soft cap for levels is at 80. Meaning 81-99 provides diminishing returns (though stills provides a small benefit). We've found that it's better to cap INT at 80 and then invest in other skills.
@@quietkingz cool thing about max END for a Carian Knight is that you can wield 2 Carian Knight Swords, the shield, and 2 Carian Glintstone staves, and still light roll.

Switching between a few core spells from different schools is my favorite way to play!

The thing is, people rarely play with only one school of magic though.
Speak for yourself. I'm a proud Carian Knight!
Thank you!
Thanks man! We really appreciate this feedback, we put a lot of effort into this!
Thank you! Taking this advice seriously and trying these out for future videos! P.s. "Other Barry" is an epic name! haha
@@quietkingz awesome! Would love to hear a follow up if you try that out at some point and notice a difference. Have a good one!

I enjoyed this one too :D
@@quietkingz Seconded for incantations.

Still a shame that catalysts don't have access to the spell-like Ash of Wars.
Imagine if they gave the Meteorite Staff access to the gravity AoW like Gravitas.
This would’ve been so cool. Such a missed opportunity.
The Carian Regal Scepter isn’t real anyway…
@@spacewizardpip1111
Yup, the only catalyst in the game that has a decent ash of war. It's 1 of 3 AoW available for all of the catalysts.
A staff with 'Ice Spear' would've been amazing.
@@Battleguildhopefully in the next update ive been wishing the same shit would’ve made being a gravity build better
I love this. I often make concept characters based on single schools of magic. So this is awesome information. Tysm.

The items go as follows:
Spells:
-Dragonmaw (great against Night's Cavalry, Bloodhound Knights and other moving targets due to its tracking and poise; breaks crystallians easily)
-Lansseax' Glaive (AoE for groups of low-tier mobs)
-Agheel's Flame (boss nuke: fire-vulnerable targets)
-Ancient Dragon's Lightning Strike (even bigger boss nuke for fire-resistant targets)
-Flame Grant Me Strenght or Howl of Shabriri (damage buff)
-Healing Spell (Heal, Great Heal or Erdtree Heal; Not thematically fitting but the build needs this as explained later)
And for the rest of the 4 remaining slots you should choose something that fits either thematically or in terms of color (red and grey). I personally used the additional spells:
-Giantsflame (2 memory slots; used against hard-to reach targets and mid-tier targets or some bosses)
-Flame Cleanse Me (since I don't have enough boluses)
-Pest Threads (lock-on and long range; the threads are kind of white-grey)
The last 3 spells came from an idea wherein my goal was to make a character with the aforementioned focus and with Caelid-like twist (Radahn's forces fight the Rot with fire, Flame Cleanse me is very good against Rot and Pest Threads are typical in Caelid). In terms of the spells, this selection has so, so much power literally in terms of pure damage and also thematically since the color red signifies power in Elden Ring as well as vigor for example (source: Tarnished Archeologist).
Armor:
Banished Knight (Altered) Set or some pieces of the set such as the helmet and the chest piece.
Melee weapons (pick one or more of the following):
-Reduvia (mostly for its AoW)
-Scavenger's Curved Sword and/or Bandit's Curved Sword (dual wield)
-Commander's standard (buff)
-Partisan (spear)
-Rogier's Rapier (has a red mid-section so this one counts as well)
Lastly, I want to say a quick tip about the healing spells in this build and illustrate the playstyle: Use the healing spells for healing instead of flasks as often as possible because this build eats FP more or less depending on what spells you use the most, and as such you preferrebly need 2/3 of your flasks for FP.
Should do a lore accurate Rogier. He was a master of glinstone spells, and his armor set boosts glinstone sorceries.
No, his armor set boosts ashes of war that do magic damage. It doesn't affect spells.

Fires deadly sin, zamor ice storm. Dark moon then then go in with fires deadly sin to remove frostbite as soon as they get it, keep casting ice storm to repeatedly proc frostbite. This is the best way to do it.
Epic! That sounds like an awesome combo, for both practicality and aesthetics 👍
@@quietkingz yeah not hating, just something I’ve seen and tried, it works well esp wth the ranni hat.
great vid and thank u for adding the "Ease to Acquire" bit for people like myself who are not soulsborne and prefer their challenges a bit less challenging lol
We love Gravity Greg, but open world does get a little annoying. He’s best used as a gargoyle/elden beast killer. 😈
I never find that a problem by simply using Gravity Well or the CRS’s weapon skill. Tho I’m 80 int already first play through still.
Gravity Well is useful in those instances, or something with a gravity AoW like Onyx Lord’s Greatsword
Swift glintstone shard is also great, especially for PvP.
Well made video, enjoyed it all the way through
Thank you so much! It took a lot of work!

We plan on doing a top 10 for each build category on Elden Ring. Next post will be top 10 Strength/Faith builds!
Thanks for sharing these builds, we are definitely going to try them out!
great video man hope to see more of this
More is coming soon! Thanks for the comment man!
carian grandeur on the primary melee weapon should be worth at least a point against big bosses imo.
for the carian knight build
@@Malisteen Agreed, it was hard not to overlap the carian knight and rogier build buffs. Good call 👍
@@quietkingz I am really hoping the expansion bring an expansion of spells to the less filled out schools of magic
@@quietkingz you can use the jelly skill, then swap and keep the damage bonus
@@themuffinprincesa21 Unfortunately, contagious fury expires the second you swap the shield out. We tested again to double check this. We found there was a bug that would keep it up even after swapping occasionally, but that was patched out in 1.09. Check out the deets on eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Contagious+Fury
Great video, just what I was looking for, amazing work.
Glad you liked it!
Amazing detailed look, I enjoy the scaling scores too. Would enjoy seeing this over FTH and arcane spell builds.

Your magic mike build is a pretty good example of that^
I love these. My favorite build is ice-crystal mage
for magic mike and night witch what stats should i focus

I know this is a Caster Focused build video but for example if you worked in the Gravity Based Weapons like Ruins Greatsword, Starscourge Greatswords, Fallingstar Beast's Jaw, Meteoric Ore Blade Katana, Onyx Lords Curved Greatsword, Wing of Astel Curved Sword, and Bastards Stars Flail, as well as Regular Weapons that use the Gravity based Ashes of War like Waves of Darkness, Gravitas, and Cragblade I think it would make the Gravity Build way more capability and you'd have an option to easily handle any and every enemy in the whole game.

adula moonblade on horseback is amazing, it cheeses openworld completely, the only downside is the horse stops during the cast so it can be dangerous

@@quietkingzits hard to say, you cant cast weapons art on horseback, and some spells too

Sounds like an epic hybrid build! We have a lightning build ranked in our next comparison video using some of these spells. 🤘🏼
Love the idea! Thanks Harry!
I thought you could dupe the Remembrance of the Moon Queen at a mausoleum for another Regal Scepter?
Its Repulsion AoW is a nice followup to Gravity Well or Collapsing Stars after enemies are pulled close, or even just on its own as well
@@foxywoxy1915 the repulsion greatsword is severely underrated and gives gravity wizards a wonderful crowd control/defense move

Carian regal staff for collapsing stars is best. You can use the spinning weapon for up close encounters.
very well made good job

Would receive a shit ton of likes and subs to no end, if you'd include stat build with each one. Your only kicking all of us in the balls here, no big deal right? lol
whats the level stats for the top 1 build? keen to test it out
I am about level 300 and NG+6 and 7 for this testing. Enjoy!
I feel the magma build is incomplete without the magma candle stick, ie the whip at patches quest line.
PVE the invisible stuff does not work. The Golems can see you a mile away and dragons.Just works for the red shirt enemies.
Instead of using 2 staffs on the invisibly build, pair it with a dexterity weapon like wing of Astral. It's way more fun.
Or moonviel
The magma build using magic shrouding cracked tear instead of fire, why? Do the spells still deal magic damage?
Also, the Carian Knight sword has Carian Grandeur, so why not use it in the set? Better for those big bosses.
Magic shrouding on the magma build was a mistake. Fire shrouding would be much better.

Seriously how does the Death mage not use Death poker.
Death’s poker is a solid option as well! We originally planned to make a pure frost build that incorporated death’s poker, but enjoyed the magic mike build more, and ended up cutting it from the video.
You can duplicate remembrances you can get 2 staffs that way
Noted. We forgot to mention the mausoleums.
Sacred Relic Sword build is coming in the next vid! It’s soooo goood!
Thank you!
Bloodmage Ricards spell needs to be added to it
Were you even using Carian Grandure with the Carian Knight build?
Great content, but please do timestamps in the future.
Will be adding timestamps soon!
You should do bleed/samurai build if you haven’t already
Id like to see the incantation version of this video i went with a blood dragon commun build with a occult flamberge with double slash to make a better rivers of blood and with the roar, godfrey, flocks talismans between ezekys decay smarang and borialis mist blood flies and black flame swapped between tear mask and gold scarab i didnt need more then 2 trys for any boss
We are absolutely going to do an incantation comparison video soon! That build sounds wild! 🤘🏼
@@quietkingz oh and of course i subscribed i like your video structuring 40/60 faith arcane btw but im sure yall can go higher
Add Carian Grandeur to the Carian Knight build and its the best mage build in the game
I find it weird that for optional weapons in the death mage build, it’s the two worst weapons that have death attacks. :p
One question. Why try duel weilding staves? From my experience it does nothing
The Carian Knight always did great against large enemies. Just run up to a dragons’ hind leg, then shred him with the Slicer.
Slicer is definitely the bread and butter, especially when it has a sprint and jump attack. Though, against large bosses in NG+6, it can take a minute to chip them down compared to our other builds
@@quietkingz I’m just starting Journey 3. It helps when END and INT are 99, though.
@@alswearengine4867 Soft cap for levels is at 80. Meaning 81-99 provides diminishing returns (though stills provides a small benefit). We've found that it's better to cap INT at 80 and then invest in other skills.
@@quietkingz I’ve already maxed out END, STR, DEX, and INT. Now working on VIG and Mind.
@@quietkingz cool thing about max END for a Carian Knight is that you can wield 2 Carian Knight Swords, the shield, and 2 Carian Glintstone staves, and still light roll.
Carian Knight is the coolest, just add some big nuke to it and its all around the best one.
great video!
Thank you!!
I mixed gravity and cold spells together. I call it the Cold Stars build
The night mage is so fun i swear
We need more blood sorcery
100% agree! Blood and Aberrant sorcs definitely fall short
I've fought Magic Mike in a few duals. What are the chances of this video being recommended to me. GGs.
It was an honor to dual you Bob Ross. 🙏🏼
Magic mile should be called the song of ice and fire
