Almost every chicken breed (even pretty heavy ones) is capable of short flights, if they really want. Heavy, large hens have no big problem reaching a 1.50 m roost or more, if they really think they have to do it. The "problem" is that they usually don't want😁, because flying is an highly energetic activity for chicken, and much more so for heavy breeds... Some individuals are much more willing to fly than others, though, and probably that helps them in gaining more stamina and shedding some weight off. I've seen videos in which even a chicken of dwarf Brahma breed was doing short flights😳

During 0:30 that one threw me off, with its orange pants and chest and neck too. The last male at the end is a genetic sickness hatch from inbreeding, some people might kill that one to protect the genetic from further inbreeding. My family didn't kill anyone of them coz we kept chicken for fun, not for some award game show or gambling.

Unless the chicken got their wings feather clipped or genetic modification. edit When I was young lives in Asia, my dad has well over 300 chickens, no barn, no coop, just orchard trees and those chicken would eat away the insects during the days (we feed them too ofc) and during the night they go up the branches and sleep. If someone or something makes noise or attacking them then our chicken would scream against the intruder and alert us, I think in English it calls "mobbing". It was cool as when I was a child.
If the theory of evolution was true, chickens would have learned to fly by now so they could escape the miserable situation they have been living for centuries.
