    FYI… when you shoot in medium compressed raw (26 mp) like you did you’re photos are actually a bit sharper then say shooting another camera that shoots at 26 mp standard ( like A7C ~ 24 mp). This is because the file is technically shot at 61 mp and downscaled to 26 mp.

    • @TrenchfootSalvador
      @TrenchfootSalvador 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      I SWEAR I NOTICED THIS TOO. THE OTHER CAMERA'S 26MP IS NOT THE SAME AS THE A7CR's 26MP. THE A7CR'S IS WAY SHARPER AND DETAILED ONLY DOWNSCALING TO 26MP!

      @@azaeldrm I don’t like to go far from home with only one camera and have it fail or get stolen. I bought the A7CR as the primary and the A7CII as the backup but also to use at higher ISO and lower light and I found a great open box deal at B&H that at the time saved almost $1200 over a second A7CR.

  • @artur.charaev
    @artur.charaev 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

    It’s not underrated, I just can’t justify price of A7CR compared to A7RV. It would be an instant buy for me for the 2000$, but 3000$ is just too much for crippled evf and screen without real mechanical shutter and so many other compromises.

    • @funnybeingme
      @funnybeingme 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You're paying for the 61mp sensor. It would be crazy and unrealistic for Sony to sell the A7CR at $2,000, which is below the A7iv. I do agree that it needs a more premium body, better screen, better EVF and more customizable buttons/controls than the A7Cii.

    • @artur.charaev
      @artur.charaev 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @funnybeingme fuji sells xt5 with 40mp crop sensor for the 1700$, fyi crop 40mp is higher density than FF 61mp. And therefore it’s more expensive in production or at least equal. While 61mp sensor process exists more than 10 years (16mp mft sensor are same density!) and all the costs are already covered and process smooth. Do you think there is 1300$ price difference in sensor? All the cameras parts the same and fuji puts in xt3 evf and screen higher quality, there is also wheels that harder to manufacture. So is it me unrealistic or is it we consumers fooled by companies marketing?

    One thing to note, if you want a high megapixel camera, you better have a good computer/laptop to process those RAW images. And for a hobbyist, I would highly recommend the A7C or A7Cii over the A7CR.

    • @azaeldrm
      @azaeldrm 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The good thing is that you can shoot RAW(M) for those times you want to snap photos but are not really looking to do some serious shooting, and end up with a file the size of the A7CII. That's the flexibility I prefer from the A7CR, personally.

    • @doplinger1

      I think that you should get the high megapixels if you KNOW that you need more megapixels. Too many buy for features that they'll never use. Even though I have the A7RV I very often just shoot in crop mode, but I do need the resolution at times.

    Hi Dylan. I agree that the a7cr is underrated. I own and shoot since years with the a6500, as I travel in remote areas for weeks and thus need as light gear as possible. I have mostly APSC lenses, though also a few FF. Can I ask you a few questions regarding the a7cr?
    Does it have the focus stacking option included like e.g the OM-1 II?
    How many stops practically speaking (advertised they say 7 stops!) does support the IBIS of the a7cr?
    What is the 61Mb sensor's dual base ISO? How many shots do you get out of one battery (just for photography)?
    When you say that in the APSC mode the view finder also reduces in resolution do you mean it still uses the full view finder surface and simple cuts in pixels OR does it crop into the view finder to make the actual visible field smaller?
    Thanks for taking the time to reply and keep your great videos coming!

    I totally agree, I decided to buy it, partly because of your videos and I couldn't be happier. It has great advantages, such as using the APS-C crop which in practice means you can go out with just one lens and it's as if you were carrying two. And on the other hand, what you say about the possibility of using APS-C lenses while maintaining a good resolution.
    I have recently been using a Sirui 75mm f1.2 in my night photography and I am very satisfied with the result, it is equivalent to about 113mm focal length but it is a great advantage to take night photos at f1.2.
    Without a doubt the A7CR is a very underrated camera. ;)

      Honestly while I haven't done it, I think the 14mp crop mode of the a7c ii should be pretty usable too. The 10mp of the original a7c is just a little too low I think but 14mp is still a good amount of detail. You just can't crop much into the already cropped APSC image.

    • @funnybeingme
      @funnybeingme 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I never understood that argument of having two lenses when you put it into "APS-C Crop mode." Why? Well even if you only have one prime lens, if you shoot in full frame, you can crop it to whatever size and therefore whatever FOV you desire.

    • @harshil102

    I’ve had an a7cr for just over a year and recently added a Nikon zf with an adapter to use the same lenses. I don’t need the 60mp for detail or printing but have come to rely on it for making my lenses more versatile. My sigma 20mm also acts as a 30m prime on my Sony, likewise my tamron 28-200 goes to 300mm in aps c mode on the Sony. On the Nikon I can’t quite do the same and keep the detail. That said, the Nikon is quite a lot cleaner at high iso and has a much nicer evf and screen. I just need to rely on more zooms on the Nikon when I want a versatile lens.

But thinking about having a second one, or the A7CR with some full frame lenses for better low light and more crop possibilities in photo. I would also use apsc lenses with the A7CR, and I have questions about video specs : have you ever tried 4K60 + active stab with an apsc lens ? I've created settings for the different custom manual modes to use the A7CR in both crop-mode uncompressed and full-frame mode RAW(M), which both yield ~28MP files, and it's been a pretty interesting setup. I'm able to "create" 2 lenses out of 1, and have 2 composition frames with me at all times if I'm carrying a single prime lens.

    I have an A7CR. Even if A7RV were the same price as A7CR, I would still buy an A7CR. Why? Well, because I prefer the form factor. I do not like the DSLR-style body with the EVF in the middle. I couldn't care less about hi-res EVF because, in the end, you are just using the EVF for composition. For this, the EVF on A7CR works just as good. It's all about preference. It's the same thing as choosing to buy an affordable sports car when you could have spent the same amount of money on a family sedan. Just because one prefers a sedan does not make the sports car a bad option and vice-versa.

    Sony camera bodies are crappy and way over priced.
    Sony Lenses are supreme, but are NOT made by Sony, which means it can very much a complicated matter for you if you need warranty service, or some sort of technical help because you might be dealing with two different companies which don't want to help you ... instead of just ONE such company.
    The basics of customer service have generally done down the toilet in EVERY industry on planet earth ... regardless of what you might purchase - a camera, or a this, or a that.
    As for Sony ... at best, it's in a distant 3rd place behind Fuji, Canon, and Nikon.
    Fuji actually does in fact currently reign SUPREME -
    Then Canon.
    And then Nikon, which more or less sort of needs to resurrect itself every few years.
    Nikon HAS in fact been teetering and tottering on the edge of bankruptcy in recent years.
    Not too seriously just yet, but trust me, surely bad enough. Nikon can manage, but just barely.
    ALL other manufacturers of camera equipment have only a teeny-tiny market share by comparison.
