I thought Our Dark Duet would be on the list. I read the Monsters of Verity series this year and is one of my fav of all time... and I'm finishing the last book of the Shades of Magic Trilogy and also one of my fav!! Schwab is one of my fav authors and also one of my auto-buy authors.
I may have said this before, but you really need to read a series called Lockwood and Co. by Jonathan Stroud. It's a middle grade series that doesn't act like a middle grade series. It's about three teens (14-16 years old) who hunt ghosts because they plague the UK. I love it! And you could binge read it if you wanted to because the series is done. I finished the last book this year (favorite book of the year) and boy, it was amazing! Please read it this year. It needs more love on BookTube!
Favorites included: The Last Magician, Unwind, If We Were Villains, Dramatically Ever After, A Conjuring of Light, For Darkness Shows the Stars, And the first three books to the Lincoln Rhyme books. A bit of an eclectic list, but it was a good year with lots of variety (for me). and I'm happy with that.
My favourite book this year was definitely "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak. Some of my other favourites were "The Hate U Give" by Angie Thomas, "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini and "All the Light we Cannot See" by Anthony Doerr. These were all amazing books and my best reads, but there was just something about the Book Thief that made it my top read of 2017!
I haven't read much fantasy lately (except Lord of the Rings), but damn, after watching this video I really want to pick up some more fantasy again! Actually never heard of the Girl of Fire and Thorns before, but it sounds so cool! I hope you'll read more amazing (fantasy) books in 2018!
Based on your review of the book "The Thief" on 12/30/17 when I first watched it, I knew I had to read it too.....I found and read a simple chapter and immediately ordered my copy......it is really good.....I wish I had ordered all the books in the series! I have read Strange the Dreamer because of you and while it was really good, it was so slow in the beginning that it didn’t become my favorite. But I’m excited for The Muse of Nightmares! I read of tower of dawn last year and at first I didn't want to read it because it was about chaol and I wasn't a big fan of him but after finishing the book I fell in love with him because he redeemed himself and knew I wrong he did in his past so now I'm basically fangirling over him lol. Strange the dreamer is on my tbr list so hopefully I get to read it this year as it looks really good and has had so many great reviews.

You should read The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty. It’s an adult sci-fi/fantasy and it’s sooo good!! It has everything you could want: Fantastical elements, political intrigue, beautiful story telling from the author that immerses you into the world from the first page. It’s action packed and simply wonderful. Definitely check it out! :)
I just finished rereading Where The Red Fern Grows and I am emotionally traumatized... again lol its one of the few books EVER that can put a lump in my throat and make me cry

Yas ! I compair Darker shade of magic to harry potter a lot. I realised that I really loved a darker shade because book 1 could have ended like that. You know ? It had its own arc from start to finish. And then I realised that it was like harry potter. Yes their ia Voldemort who is the bigger 7 book arc but every book has its own story from start to finish. Book 2 is like harry potter and the goblet of fire of course ahhha and even more the just the games, this one ends on a kliff hanger and ya need to keep going just like voldemort coming back ahahah. Im curently a third of the way into the last book and its so good. Ive read a lot of review that hate Lila and I think it helps me love her ahhaha. Like everyone pointed out her anoying flawd and im reading looking for it and like.... I dont see it. I mean, still 400 pages-ish for her to anoy me but yeah xD

I'm so happy for you that you enjoyed The Fate of the Tearling! The ending really let me down, it really isn't for everyone. And while I normally appreciate a very unique and brave ending, this one was sadly not for me. 🙁

I finally got ADSOM after hearing you rave about the series a couple times. I bought the collector's edition and I'm enjoying it (...but I can't stand Lila lol). I wasn't planning on continuing once I reach the end, but the last minute of this video has me rethinking that choice. Ohh what to do?
I also got the first two books in THE QUEEN'S THIEF series because of your recommendation and I'm looking forward to it.

You should read The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty. It’s an adult sci-fi/fantasy and it’s sooo good!! It has everything you could want: Fantastical elements, political intrigue, beautiful story telling from the author that immerses you into the world from the first page. It’s action packed and simply wonderful. Definitely check it out! :)

I just finished rereading Where The Red Fern Grows and I am emotionally traumatized... again lol its one of the few books EVER that can put a lump in my throat and make me cry

Do you think you could do a video of books that will get you into more complex fantasy. I’ve noticed that some fantasy books are extremely hard to follow with all the characters and places. So I thought it would be nice to know how I can work myself up to those more intense fantasy’s series
Yas ! I compair Darker shade of magic to harry potter a lot. I realised that I really loved a darker shade because book 1 could have ended like that. You know ? It had its own arc from start to finish. And then I realised that it was like harry potter. Yes their ia Voldemort who is the bigger 7 book arc but every book has its own story from start to finish. Book 2 is like harry potter and the goblet of fire of course ahhha and even more the just the games, this one ends on a kliff hanger and ya need to keep going just like voldemort coming back ahahah.
Im curently a third of the way into the last book and its so good. Ive read a lot of review that hate Lila and I think it helps me love her ahhaha. Like everyone pointed out her anoying flawd and im reading looking for it and like.... I dont see it. I mean, still 400 pages-ish for her to anoy me but yeah xD
