Thank you! This solved my problem! I got this treadle 230 in a pretty nice table at a used furniture shop a few years ago. It has been sitting here while I waited to find the right information to make the straight stitch work. Thank you for your clear, useful information.
Thank you very much. I have a 230 automatic, and I could not get it to do a straight Stitch. It had a slight Zig and zag to it not much but you could see it on the needle bar as it moves slightly to the left and right. I got that squared away but now it won't zig zag and I wanted to know how to take apart this zig zag portion.
Thank you this is just what l needed. My machine is a Pfaff 230 and it’s stuck in the zigzag mid. Must be a common problem with this machine. Very good machine tho. Best l’ve ever had. Blessings
It is amazing, I had that exact problem and could not figure out what to do, so I got so far as to dismantle the knob, and spray WD40 in there and from above, and I am waiting to get it to free, it is really stuck……but thank you for sharing info!!😊
Can you show how you got the straight stitch to work? Did all you suggested but mine now won't straight stitch no matter how we adjust it. Thanks so much for your videos.
I have the same problem with my 360 unseized the stitch length after alot of time soaking etc and I have the same problem with the stitch width. BUT the dial is like yours on the right so I have no idea how to get it off. Thanks if anyone can help.
Just bought an old 332 that was completely seized up. Got it all freed up, and found this video particularly interesting. Went through the same procedure. ps. If your machine won't straight stitch, this pin has to be adjusted.
@@lorisruffino347 Loris, The pin I'm referring to, is the big pin in the center of the zig zag switch facing forward, with the straight slot for a screwdriver. This whole mechanism is prone to getting gummed up and sluggish. It needs to operate freely.
Tom thanks for the video, I just broke my white knob trying to get it off. I could just cry. Did you ever get to the bottom of the missing screw? I seem to have that same missing screw
Probably not a missing screw, just an extra screw hole. Maybe that part was used on another model that used the screw hole. I broke the knob that raises and lowers the light on my machine.

Thank you for the video. I have a question. How to unseize this screw? For me it doesn't move at all.
Thanks Tom

Oh no. Mine won't do a perfect straight stitch anymore. What pin are you talking about? I could really use your help.

How did you get the knob off, mine knob will not budge. Thanks for any help.
Did you remove the set screw in the bottom of the knob?
I would remove the screw and spray in the hole with WD40.
