    The first time I heard of Black Sabbath was on an airplane flying to Hawaii in the summer of 1971. I was 18 listening to the pre-recorded songs they had for your listening enjoyment. The emcee introduced "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath. The song instantly caught my attention, and I was able to listen to it a second time before landing in Honolulu. I couldn't get it out of my head. After getting back to the states I went out and bought the Paranoid album. Loved it and became a Black Sabbath fan. Not long after that I bought Master of Reality and then Vol 4. Many good songs on these albums. "Sweet Leaf" on Master of Reality is among my favorites. I think the early Sabbaths with Ozzy were the best. I did like Ozzy's solo song, "Crazy Train" after he left Sabbath. Welcome to the Sabbath rabbit hole.

    i think this is just one of the greatest rock songs ever the message behind it is so insane and resonates with us today so especially being a teenager with everything going on right now this song really hits hard i think that’s part of the reason all music from this era has been resurrected heavily

    Sabbath formed in 1968, first album came out in 1970. So basically the same age as Led Zeppelin. But with a very different sound. Sabbath basically invented what we now know as heavy metal. Check out the version of this on the Live In Paris 70 video. It's all over TH-cam. Or even better Fairies Wear Boots from the same show.

    Tony iommi (eye-OWE-me), the lead guitarist, wrote the music for Black Sabbath, and is by consensus the inventor of metal music in the first Black Sabbath album which was released in February, 1970. Van Halen came much later, and in fact opened for Sabbath when they were starting out, which I was lucky enough to witness as a teenager in the middle of the 5th row. The lyrics are by the great bass player, Geezer (Terry) Butler. The drummer is Bill Ward and as you know, the singer is Ozzy Osbourne, who remained the singer until the late 1970's when Iommi fired him and hired Ronnie James Dio. Iommi invented or started whole genres and subgenres of music, and laid the foundation of pretty much all heavy music to follow. (By the way, he has been good friends with Brian May of Queen for decades.)

    Ozzy Osbourne and Robert Plant are the same age, 73. This is from 1970, so around the same era as Zep. My husband and I saw both Sabbath and Ozzy (solo) about 15 years ago. Best concerts ever. Unsure if they're still touring as Ozzy is suffering from Parkinson's disease

  • @johns7097
    @johns7097 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    No, they don't tour. They are as old as Led Zeppelin. As a matter of fact Sabbath is from the same city as Plant and Bonham from Zeppelin, and knew each other before any of them were famous.
    Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Supernaut are two songs I think you'd like.

The footage is taken from a short film or a game-intro I don't know for sure, but what I do know, it has nothing to do with Black Sabbath or the song.

    I always loved their music and we played it loud to Charlie. However, I didn't agree with their thoughts on the war in Vietnam. We took over from the French as a peace keeping force and the N. VIETNAMESE army ramped up incursions in to S. Vietnam. Our hands were tied as we couldn't attack in N. Vietnam or into Cambodia.
