  • This "Comes Love - Remembering Joe Rock" program was pulled together by TJ Lubinsky to commemorate the life of the Skyliner's legendary manager and Jimmy Beaumont's songwriting partner. Broadcast on April 7, 2000 as part of WQED's "Doo Wop Shop" series of programs, the show features recorded interviews with Joe Rock and Jimmy Beaumont, plus tributes from Dick Clark, Jerry Blavat, Lou Christie and others. In-studio guests included then-Skyliners members Donna Groom, Rick Morris and Nick Prociask, Pure Gold's Henry and Susan Deluca, Robert Peckman, Ron Crawley and Frank Czuri, plus the Jaggerz' Jimmie Ross... Joe Rock had also managed and written songs for them during the heyday of their hit "The Rapper."
On a personal note, I was happy to provide TJ with the video of Joe holding the Skyliners' Calico album at their 40th Anniversary show, and suggested he ask Jimmie Ross about the Jaggerz' appearance at "Club SeeBelow."

I was about 10yrs. old living in Huntington, WV when I first heard the Skyliners on radio singing Since I Don't Have You and although very young the tune and lyrics were memorable. Great composition by Mr. Joe Rock and the Skyliners were just perfect to record this timepiece. ❤👍

back when joe lived in Beechview, even thought there was a big age gap between joe rock and my brother Bryan back in the mid to late 80's they had a father-son or brothers relationship up till Bryan died in 1988 6 weeks before Bryan's 21st birthday. and because of that i will always remember and respect Joe

For a very long time I wanted to know all that I could about Joe Rock. I have literally appreciated the timeless great songs written by Joe Rock and perfectly sung by The Skyliners since 1959. Many thanks for placing this informative video on TH-cam. It was great to see and hear all those connected with Joe Rock and The Skyliners.

Joe was the BEST!!! I worked with him in the 70s Jaggerz. He was briliant and one of the funniest people I ever knew. I still miss him. But God help you if you weren't someone he liked. RIP
