  • There is a Black Hole within the realm of the Tulip Nebula in Cygnus the Swann, but how do you find a black hole? With the help of the new Pixinsight Narrowband Normalization Tool, and using narrowband filters, it becomes possible.

Hey pat, what better way to spend my lunchtime at work than to watch your video on the Tulip and the new Normalization tool😀 Great video mate! I’ll be checking out the new tool for Pix soon as I can! Interesting to see it in action, nicely demonstrated Pat👍 I’ve got 17 hrs on the Tulip so far! (work in progress) 😅Clear skies!

Well, your nights are stedily growing longer now. How about the clouds? Have they abandoned the area?

Pat Prokop I've been watching your videos for a while now. I admire your knowledge about this hobby. If it's possible would you mind being my mentor in this hobby. I have pretty much all my equipment that I need to start this hobby but I need one on one tutoring. So if this would be possible let me know and we can start my next step in this journey.

O3 500nm is green, not blue. H-beta is blue. 488nm is excitation line by green fluorescent protein.
By the way, did you calibrate those images? They have massive red, orange or pink vignetting.
Best way to show the bow is to increase contrast in curves. Just reduce background.

Thanks! I took an image of the Tulip Nebula 2 years ago in OSC. Looks like I have to try again in mono. How often do you go back to a previous target? With so many targets out there, I've still reshot targets several times.

Thank you, Jude, for the super thanks and for watching my video. If I find something new on a popular target, sure, I will revisit it. Sometimes I take them in broadband color and think how it would look in narrowband and so forth. As with this target, and the new Narrowband Normalization tool, I thought the emphasis on the bow shock would be interesting.

Pat have you ever heard of Skytools 4 software. when I ever can afford a better telescope, I am thinking about Losemandy G 11 Gemini 11 mount , with a 60mm star finder. 80mm, star guide , what's your comment

      Hi Jeff,
I am not familiar with any of those. There are plenty of great equatorial mounts now available. I like the SkyWatcher EQ6R-Pro. I am very impressed with that. That's the one hosting my Orion EON 130mm triplet refractor and doe a great job tracking.
