What fly rod would you recommend for someone who likes to backpack and fish small mountain streams and lakes? I love hiking a long way into the Uinta mountains where I can fish in meadow streams and am looking for a easy to pack fly rod. I love my current fly rod (Sage VPS light, graphite, #5 8'6" 3 1/8 oz) but it only breaks into three pieces and is kind of a pain to lug around.
I am looking to get more into fly fishing and have built a rod and have outfitted it with the proper line but for some reason my leader line isn’t completely unraveling. I have 9’ tapered leader with another couple or few feet of tippet. I tried casting a dry fly unfortunately I’m not completely aware of the different sizes in flies therefore couldn’t tell you which one. I don’t remember if it was really all that windy or not but I was on my boat attempting to catch panfish.
th-cam.com/video/nPeFEIPLGPg/w-d-xo.html - I would watch this video. Pretty sure your leader is either too long or too small. The energy isn’t transferring all the way through the line to your fly (which is why it fizzles out). Watch the video and it will make sense.

ever consider doing a few videos on targeting pike and muskie with a fly?
Unfortunately, we have no clue when it comes to musky or pike. Haven’t had the chance to do it yet. Maybe in the future. 😎🤙🏽
@@venturesflyco come over to Wisconsin, the northern lakes are great for it, change of scenery is always fun too
Thank you, very succinct 👍

And I'm not really looking to break the bank ... hoping to use my current reel setup with the new rod.
