I keep wondering why the previous renovators piled floor upon floor instead of removing the floor and replacing it. You guys are doing a great justice to this historic building.
We have an old farm. Floor on floor was normal in early years. That Black stuf i think is called klinker-isoliet in Netherlands. It's baked mud. It's light and used as concrete filler. Greetings from the Netherlands 👋🏽🇳🇱
Yanis is such a hard worker any girl that gets him will be so happy and your dad is a sweetheart at his age he does alot just tell him to be safe and don't over do it
8:30 that'd be nice in planter pots or whatnot for drainage. Reminds me of Perlite or Vermiculite or whatnot. Perhaps make yourself some hypertufa planters for out in the back 40.
@@JudyCarter-kl7beplus the nuns were living There. They'd want as lityle disruption as possible. One room at a time, once it got emptied after one of them deceased
Rick with the pole lifting the floor such a hard worker and mick he never stops billy like the way you explain what your doing and you just don’t stop working and yanis as well ,so well done everyone it must be a lot of work for you billy working and filming as well but we do enjoy your channel so Thankyou .💖
My last house was a Victorian home and when remodeling the upstairs bathroom there was 6 layers of flooring including wood, linoleum and carpet with carpet being the very top layer and a few layers underneath. So weird. And gross to have carpet in a bathroom.
Billy with the next load of lumber. Stand on the truck and pass it up the window above. So move the lumber once. So the lumber is right at hand to use. That black stone could be reused as decorative stone .
It's so nice to clean up before you go to next part. That way your not looking at a mess when you're ready for next step!!! Ryan, do you see why it's done this way??
Next summer you could run tours through the place on a limited basis. Something your Dad might enjoy doing. Im sure the locals and travelers would be interested to see your accomplishments. ♥
It's no wonder the the doors to the cells are so short. They probably cut them down every time they added a new floor. Can't believe that they didn't bother taking the odl floors up when they added a new one.
In Germany we use a granulate to level the floor if they are very uneven or if you need to come up to another level. It's a dry fill instead of a levelling cement.
I have this vision that you drop all this out the window to the truck below and the tires blow out! That poor truck must cringe every time Yannis opens a window! I really do need to stop anthrpomorphizing inanimate objects, at least out loud. 🙄🙄🙄
This reminds me of when someone opens a gift, only to find another nothing in it to find another box, and inside that another box, etc, till they finally find a small but lovely gift in a tiny box. Ha! What is that saw that you're using? I love that it's fairly small, and has a battery. It's not always convenient to use a table saw.
Bruneau told me that he managed to free you of the stained glass ! NO idea what he is going to do with it but thanks for him, he is very creative and often does jobs for people. Hugs xxx
Billy Another question today how many centimeters of height did you gain removing the layers of floors? I know it's going to look just wonderful you have such a great vision thank you for sharing your project with all of us
Not an awful lot as originally the floors never had any services or drainage so i need to keep them high enough for appropriate fall regarding waste pipes. It will be close enough to the library gallery though
Yanis in his happy place, big metal bar in hand ripping up stuborn flooring 😂
Yannis is now the expert in demolition at the convent .
I keep wondering why the previous renovators piled floor upon floor instead of removing the floor and replacing it. You guys are doing a great justice to this historic building.
Cost. They get paid to lay a floor, it would cost the nuns more to have the previous floor removed and disposed of.
Great headway again today. You guys are working really hard. Mick is amazing, keeping up with everyone. Crack On!
It looks like the room has gained almost 2 feet in height.
Insulation to help keep warm possibly? Plus labor cost?
Because the nuns were still working and living there. The disruption would have been far greater if they had.
"Yanis".. Is like a one man wrecking ball...... Such a hard working young man,Take my hat off to you Yanis..
Your truck was a great investment! You're definitely getting your money's worth out of it!
So many layers of flooring its crazy! Great to hear the beam is sighing of relief! Crack on guys!
That was probably the groaning the computer picked up 😂

I can’t believe, all the layers of flooring. But I find this very interesting. Great progress and only Tuesday.
Yanis is such a hard worker any girl that gets him will be so happy and your dad is a sweetheart at his age he does alot just tell him to be safe and don't over do it
It’s great to watch the transformation from cells to lovely rooms😊
Bet you’re all shattered! Love your vlogs Billy xxx💕💕💕
Yanis in his element, like a fish in water: demolition work!
8:30 that'd be nice in planter pots or whatnot for drainage. Reminds me of Perlite or Vermiculite or whatnot. Perhaps make yourself some hypertufa planters for out in the back 40.
You guys doing an amazing job, so many floors…incredible what they did then..
So many floors so little time. Love how Yanis gets stuck in❤❤❤🥳🥳🥳👌
Floors upon Floors upon Floors...
Results of lazy builders??
I look forward to these episodes every day!
😊
Could be a case of the least expensive route to go for the convent. Pinching every penny I imagine.

I would love to have those floor boards…the things I could build with those!
I was thinking the same thing! As well as Simon, who is such a recycling guy at his home in France
Keeping the mud is a fine idea. Better to spend time and money elsewhere.
Amazing to watch those boards pop off. Yanis is a machine.
You guys make my back hurt just watching you work. 💕🙏
Well done 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💙💙💙
Lights, camera, and....Yanis!
Enjoy watching all that heavy stuff get torn up. Yikes, what a nightmare.
Monumental work load now and for the time being. With steady Yannis and your father as your right arm...you got this Billy. 💪
Thank you for todays videoBilly❤
lol I lost count of the layers of flooring Yanis was so enjoying his favorite thing “demolition”

Crack on Yanis. Your a demo king. Mick is right in there for sure Billi is looking great

Really glad you're leaving the mud & planning for soundproofing!
Another very busy day. Well done crew.
The floor is like an insane, indoor archeological dig😂😂
Quick moving Yanis!
Billy with the next load of lumber. Stand on the truck and pass it up the window above. So move the lumber once. So the lumber is right at hand to use.
That black stone could be reused as decorative stone .
Well done guys you are all doing a fantastic job .👍👍👍🤩🤩🤩🌅
All them different floors it's mad❤
AND you guys don’t have to remove it all!!! Win Win
It's really interesting that they just kept adding layer after layer to the floor rather then replacing them.
more floor
No wonder the doors were so short.
Given the price of timber, I hope you will be able to reuse some of what has been taken up. At the very least, as firewood!
Billy is discovering the universe isn't turtles all the way down it is flooring all the way down
My 100 year old farmhouse had 7 layers of floorcovering when it burned.
That hideous 70's pattern linoleum under the new plank flooring needed fire.
It's so nice to clean up before you go to next part. That way your not looking at a mess when you're ready for next step!!! Ryan, do you see why it's done this way??
I saw pellets like those being used in Portugal for insulation. They were even mixed with cement to create a solid layer
I wonder if all the flooring contractors were related.
😂😂

Endless, endless work 😢
The crowbar master is back in action
What heavy, hard work! Rick isn’t there today. Hope he didn’t hurt his back from yesterday. Be careful guys.
I think Rick works Monday, Wednesday and Friday
I remember the doors to the nun's cells being very low - it seems we now know why.
Like how you are explaining
It's no wonder the the doors to the cells are so short. They probably cut them down every time they added a new floor. Can't believe that they didn't bother taking the odl floors up when they added a new one.
Billy. A thought. You are doing your back a disservice. Use your legs for leverage. Your back will thank you in the long run.
I would take the mud out and replace it with the rock wool like you've used elsewhere.
Yanis is a powerhouse! You are very lucky to have him on your team.
In Germany we use a granulate to level the floor if they are very uneven or if you need to come up to another level. It's a dry fill instead of a levelling cement.
Wow, what a hectic mess, anyway its getting sorted ❤
I have this vision that you drop all this out the window to the truck below and the tires blow out! That poor truck must cringe every time Yannis opens a window! I really do need to stop anthrpomorphizing inanimate objects, at least out loud. 🙄🙄🙄
Give Yanis a pry bar and stand back … 😮🎉❤ !!!
That looks very satisfying
This is one location that'll benefit from "starting with a clean slate" ...(or clear floor)....!
the black balls are argex, also used in concrete to make it lighter and more energy efficient. It may also be used in plant pots.
You maybe could use that black stuff as ground cover in landscaping!
Looks like beads of pumice stone
Use a vacuum to suck it up.
Yanis is fierce.😮

Thank you for sharing 😊
Yanis and his karate kicks. 😊
Wonder if your big vacuum cleaner could pick up the black bead stuff to collect it🤷♀️
It looks like you will have plenty of wood for the furnace at the chateau.
Great but dirty days work! Well done all
Xx

You are all making great progress lads 👍👋👋
Great work, comme d'habitude!
Is there no end to the flooring and surprises buried beneath...happy face beam...!
Great progress
Did the ceiling downstairs survive all the hammering and vibration?
it did survive
If not, could Billy survive Simon's look?
@@busterdee8228 😂
Yes and when it is all done what is next after the library ? and the ensuites ? Miss seeing Steve around he helped alot. :D
Another floor!!🤣🤣🤣
I think it would have been quicker and easier to vacuum the insulation up and then pour it into the bags than sweeping...
We have an old insulation in the US that’s similar called Vermiculite.
Billy, you might save that 20th century pine fro Ryan. He is going to need a lot of flooring.
Great work

Thank you so much for your reply
OMG. That is a lot of floors stacked on top of one another.
You guys are removing all the juju that’s in the building. Haha She’s getting a breath of fresh air.
Please remove the mud and replace it with proper insulation
Enough kindling to heat the sun.
I wish I was in France , I would buy those floor boards ,They would make lovely furniture pieces .
Should wear masks with all that dust flying around.
So many differences in the same floor. 😊❤
Did you her that??? The old beams are sighing with relief!!
So, the entire time I've been watching, I thought that was a wood floor. Now that you're taking it up . . . What is that! Picture of wood?
Lino
First lovely jubbly!?!
'Perliet' and 'vermiculiet'
I would love to see the original floorboards in the hallway be kept in situ, cleaned up and somehow visible as an original feature!
If you need 2 decorators, me and my son would gladly come over. Wages and lodgings. 👍
The walls just keep getting taller.
Yes it's vermiculite
it’s not vermiculite as such but acts the same way
@@ThePethericks 👍
It could be volcanic rock. It is lightweight and has excellent insulation properties.
