For all the folks looking for the information. (I have a 2018 vw polo) : if you want to change sound system, just changing speakers won't cut it as the main radio don't have enough power and the sound will not improve much (in my case at least with J794 radio). But when you add this amp and correctly set the gain, oh man this is night and day. So for truly PNP system you need to buy the amp, the Y harness for wv and also the extension cord. If you don't want to buy the last item, you gotta solder some wires but be aware at least in polo there is no space behind the radio so you need to root cables either to the glovebox or to the passenger feet area like in the video. So I had to extend cables myself as I didn't bought extension câbles myself. Hopefully all this info will help someone. Cheers :)
@@sanekn i see, iv just fitted the vibe 65.4 vw3 plug an play amp which sounds great even with the stock speakers but thinking of upgrading to these, but have seen a few people say they are not great when connected to there vw helix amp but that could be because the helix has a dsp and is coded to the o.e speakers, my vibe is like the small focal just a little more power just want to make sure these sound decent when connected to other amps.
@@brucewayne2397 Really can't tell you man, I've kinda abandonned the idea of improving the sound of my polo as at the end of a day all I hear is road noise haha Will try dig it all later on when rich and have an isolated car :D
Im also thinking about putting new speakers into mine. Wanted to ask in your opinion how much better are the highs, mids, voices…. Because I want to put in a subwoofer also and the bass from these things is not as important to me :)

My question for the golfR/gti community is. What good is upgrading the speakers without a amplification upgrade? Yea focal makes awesome speakers and in terms of plug and play with the mk7 platform this is basically about as good as its going to get. But what really are these going to do if the amplification is stock. With bmws theirs company's that do full on direct swap plug and play factory replacement audio "bavaudio" is one company you can replace everything down to the factory Amp.
if it is the same amp as in my 2018 polo (J794 radio) then you gotta buy an amp like focal inside, i've just installed it and the difference is night and day holy moly. Just swapping the speakers was a meh experience for me. But with the amp it came alive.
These are a significant improvement over stock. The main reason is that the stock woofers are 4 ohm and these are 2 ohm. The resistance is half as much as the factory ones. These are significantly louder as they push the stock receiver more, but it can handle the lower resistance. They are a BIG difference even without an amp.
Making it look so bloody easy. Fucking trims never come off or go back on the way you want them to. Door cards are an absolute bitch to get back on and all the clip connectors are a bastard and awkward to access. Rivets are a bastard to remove… the list goes on.

Hi, I have Dynaudio in my (new to me) Mk7 GTD. I fitted focal amp, focal Evo components and co-axials and sub on my Jeep - which sounds brilliant, and leaves me disappointed in the dynaudio. Could I swap in these units for the front and rear, retaining the dynaudio sub (a bit loose but plenty of power and neat installation in spare wheel) - without changing the amplification (dynaudio digital amp)
