      @@garrettisley they're true tho... i mean it obviously takes talent to play the piano to that degree however in order to get perfect pitch like that you need to be playing some sort of instrument from a very young age for several years, it'd be kinda sad if she couldn't play that song. not saying it's easy by any means but it'd be like if an olympic sprinter couldn't run a few miles, impressive to most but to some it should be a given

      @@garrettisley I get why that kind of comment might seem annoying to you, but as someone with perfect pitch I get where those kind of people are coming from. Tbh, ttfaf is a tough song to play, but not in the way that most people think: the melodies, harmonies, chord progressions are very basic. And so I was actually surprised to see that Lara wasn't even playing all the right chords. Please keep in mind that I'm not trying to insult Lara or her playing even though there were other mistakes she made; I just expected her to get at least the chords right since the chord progression of ttfaf is actually more common (or I'm pretty sure it is) than that which she actually played, and I can clearly tell from her playing that she's been playing for a long time. Apropos ttfaf, what gives the song its tough factor is its orchestration, for the song is orchestrated in such a way that its performance requires great and defined skill over its basic constituents and at great and consistent velocity... that and the guitar solo😂.

      Was about to say the same thing. I play guitar for about 15 years and playing along with this song is fairly easy - what isn't easy is paying 200 dollars for a new Whammy Pedal and dealing with a Floyd Rose bridge on a guitar in order to make all of Herman's cool effects. He's fast and very creative, but John Petrucci from Dream Theater and Joe Satriani and Steve Vai are my staples Dragonforce is just fast. If you can run through scales/modes with tremolo picking and legato then you only need the forearm and wrist strength to do it for 7 minutes that and a basic background in metal should give you the down picking speed and string muting and stuff. A good song to introduce your muscles and wrist to the fast twitch necessary to play fast metal songs is say Master of Puppets by Metallica - just play that a couple of hours for a few days and you will develop the skills necessary to play rhythem guitar for basically any kind of fast metal.

      Synesthesiac I’d say it’s a lot of study of music theory. Once you understand how scales and chords are organized, you spend some time learning about how scales and chords are utilized in songs. You’ll start to hear and recognize sequences of notes and anticipate what’s going to come next. At first you have to do a bit of guessing and checking, then you’ll get better at your first guess until it becomes almost intuitive. I teach piano lessons and have also been playing for about 20 years now (doing advanced repertoire, writing and arranging for about 10). I aim to teach all of my students these things piece by piece

    the most impressive thing to me came at 1:33 when she literally anticipated what the chorus would sound like, having never heard it before she could actually play the basic structure at the same time as she was hearing it. Whereas before in the verse, she listened for a line or two then picked up on it, the chorus she instinctually was able to predetermine.

    • @TheShadowblast123
      @TheShadowblast123 5 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      It is easier to pick up on sections that have longer notes, what you'll notice is that she doesn't get the opening riff until after the chorus and verse. Longer notes give the musician time to sense how far the note has jumped. What's really impressive though is how picking up the chorus unlocked the entire song for her. She suddenly hounds down the key center and can detect every deviation from the tonic with perfection. Although she has perfect pitch which means she probably just realized how to play the notes, not what notes to play.

    • @MiracleDiving
      @MiracleDiving 5 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      airforce9872 she is so talented, but it’s not the first time she plays this song, or the others on her channel...you can guess some notes, but every note, not a single doubt or mistake?

    • @supermarble94
      @supermarble94 5 ปีที่แล้ว +55

      @@MiracleDiving There were a *lot* of notes that were wrong. Not bad, and not out of key, just not what the notes actually are in the song. She took a guess at the chord progression for what flowed well in her mind, as well, and it was close but not exact. She picked up on the key it's not only played in but felt in as well and just went from there.
      She's a very talented musician. And the fact that she was able to play that well having never heard the song before is a testament to that.
      But let's be real. Dragonforce is about as predictable as it gets when it comes to how a song's progression goes. That's why a lot of the notes she was guessing at were correct.
      Mad props to her. I could never play as well as she showed there. And if you think this is fake or a show or some form of deception, then you probably don't know as much about music as you'd like to think you do.

      Well it was pretty good for the fact that it was improvised on the spot. She definitely has a good ear and knows a bit about music theory. She mostly picked the right notes probably with perfect pitch or a decently fast relative pitch and the harmonies she picked were not bad either even if she sometimes messed up their endings (hard for me to describe because English is my second language). Also it's a pretty fast song, so you have to pick up small things pretty fast and she basically had to chunk it down a bit in order for her to actually play it on piano. Adding to this that she was streaming, so in her defence she was distracted by the chat as well.
      I'm sure she could have nailed it if she gave herself a bit more time to repeat some parts of the song. But I guess that wasn't the kind of challenge that she was going for
