I GOT STUCK IN AN ELEVATOR - Fresh Kruppy mod Otis Traction Elevators - San Jose, CA

- These used to be Otis with squire touch sensitive buttons, but unfortunately got modded less than a year before I took this video. You would expect a mod to help these, but it seems to have made them worse.
On my way up for a second trip the elevator abruptly stopped and cancelled the call. I kind of freaked and hit the phone button a bit prematurely, as not long after halting it began to move again, though now in the opposite direction. It resumed normal service, but I got off at ground not trusting it anymore. I stayed to let the phone operator know that the situation had resolved itself.

With the elevator freshly modernize it was probably just a simple controller glitch. I had a very similar incident happened to me at the hospital where I had my surgery done on my arm back in 2016.
I was heading down to the main floor to check out the gift shop and I was staying on the top floor.
When the number changed to the fifth floor there was an abrupt stop just like what you experienced.
So I said to my mother that if the elevator didn’t start moving within 30 seconds I was going to press the emergency phone. As I was about to press the emergency phone the elevator let out a tiny jolt and went down to the main floor at levelling speed.
So before I went to the gift shop I went straight to security and told them what elevator I was in and what had happened. Ever since that incident they seem to be running just fine.
I got stuck in a Schindler elevator about a week ago. The doors totally jammed and could not be opened whatsoever.
Fire department had to come.

The alarm sounds like an EST Genesis fire alarm.
It does thyssen Krupp used that sound as their alarm
I hate mods even though they feel smoother their is still a lot of glitches

The elevator stopped for 10 seconds and you already pressed the emergency button
I usually give it a few minuets before doing that.

Normal elevators don’t usually free fall. That’s a very rare situation.

I know. well, eventually…. I got used to the modernized Westinghouse elevators when I was at the Phillips-Wangensteen Building in the University of Minnesota Minneapolis when I was there, but I never had problems with elevator modernization. I was probably okay with that when the campus’s elevators got modded.
