Before you go out an spend a lot of cash on a PLC and HMI, remember that you can Simulate your programs and HMI using PLC SIM. If you are working from home, this will provide you everything you need to learn the software at a fraction of the price.
I bought the kit without the HMI, it was cheaper. However I also bought the CB-1241 RS485 comm module. I didn't need the HMI. as I plan to use a kinco HMI. I need to develop a motion control system to control a MODBUS TCP based stepper.motor. Thanks for posting, this is a really useful video
Sir if i think correctly does relay output also has 24V supply to the outputs. Our outputs are usually actuators like solenoid valves and so on . INputs can be sensors and switches
Hello Thaks For The Videos.I have S7-1200 Plc With Cpu 1214C DC/DC/DC While My Plc Is In Running Mode In Production Suddenly One Day It's Stopped The RUN/ STOP led Status Went In Orange Colour. I'm trying to ping with plc it's pinging with Pc. and while am trying to upload program From Plc it's showing error of NO NODE WERE FOUND.What Will be the root cause.
If you use a resistor and a 4 to 20 mA is that ok. Is this done often to get an analog voltage input ? I have seen resistors in panels and it can be confusing
A 250 ohm resistor across the analog input terminals would provide 1-5 V DC when 4 - 20 mA is flowing though it. This is a crude way of making something work when you're too cheap to purchase the appropriate input card.
This model of the S7-1200 comes with an Ethernet Connector. The Factory IO does not need a physical connection. It is simply an animation program that looks at I/O values above the number of physical inputs of the PLC. th-cam.com/video/kmlx4Sq94hQ/w-d-xo.html&list=PLyL0ResmI4Q38NVKLzouUJdNMu7bA2mH5&index=7
I could be wrong Mr. Pete but : 1st/2nd/3rd 1st is for the supply voltage, not the power Supply. meaning it takes in 24 DC NOT 120/240V, and it provides also 24DC for inputs. Refere to system manual chapter " Technical specification/ CPU wiring"
Take a look at Rajvir Singh's diagram here: forums.mrplc.com/uploads/monthly_2017_12/Introduction-to-S7-1200.jpg.0d5c7d2aaa91906fa7b01b24bc34cbec.jpg The 1L is the common connection for the outputs

great videos, I want to learn PLC programming and troubleshooting
Hi Pete, great videos, thanks for them! I only have a question for you, which S7 1200 PLC model includes analog input (4 to 20 mA) ?? any advice? Which is the HMI model in this video? I want to buy one the same as yours ... Thanks you for your help!
I bought the KTP400. It is quite small and limits your workspace. If you are working from home you can always add a PC HMI and then just Simulate with PLC SIM... saves you a lot of cash and you get the same result. 4 to 20 mA inputs are available through additional modules. The SM1234 AI/AQ would be an example. Also the 1214C PLC allows for the SB1232AQ which fits right on the front of this model.
@@PeteVree Thanks for the advice. So, is it possible to use the analog module you said: SM1234 AI/AQ in the PLC you used in your video (CPU 1212C AC/DC/RLY)??

Hello Sir S7-1200+KTP400 Basic starter kit. In windows 10 we can download this TIA portal program from that kit.

where did you buy the hardware and software?

Hello pete does the memory card come with this kit if not where can I get the same and how much would it cost??

@@PeteVree Thank you. I have seen these resistors used on small PLC's used on sump pumps that have hydrostatic sensors
How are you supposed to connect the HMI, PLC and Progamming Laptop ?? Only one outgoing Ethernet port
You'll need either a standard router or an ethernet switch
How long does the S7-1200 take to start up?
Couple seconds... depends on how many bananas you fed it last night.
How to access or edit the program which is already there in the cpu? Thank You!
What does DC/DC/Rly means
DC is DC Power Supply
DC is 24V DC Inputs
RLY is Relay Outputs
thank you a lot
Thank you, would please discuss connecting to S7-1200 via router from remote places?
I'll add it to my list of topics to cover. Thanks Thomas.
Thank you again.
seems dont have Ethernet connector, need separate TCP/IP card to connect or factory IO? thanks

It is simply an animation program that looks at I/O values above the number of physical inputs of the PLC.

i have a question the PLC 1214C DC/DC/DC need a power sopply or have a internal transformer
It contains a power supply that takes the 120/240V and provides 24VDC.

Hi Pete , great video! i purchaced the plc but i have a fault.. is it mandatory to have a sd card so i can download a program or run the plc?
No. The SD card is not required for downloading a program. Perhaps you chose the wrong PLC when downloading?
can you please explain about RLY ouput conncction , about 1L

The Siemens PLC is a great product to learn, and is widely used in industry. I can highly recommend Rajvir Singh's course on Udemy.

Best to check with a supplier to confirm. www.plc-city.com/shop/en/siemens-simatic-s7-1200-analog-modules.html
My plc run stop so not working
Sorry to hear that. Have you tried turning the PLC on and off on the menu on the top left of the TIA Portal?
Almost bought an analog input from plc city...dollar price got too high in my country
Prices are climbing here in Canada as well as our dollar has dropped to 0.77 USD
Okeke nwanne looking for same .
Hi i had question i want buy plc s7 1200 with Aliexpress it is original or it's copy for only 130 dollars ?
Probably a scam. I had some really bad experiences with EBay, so I only purchase from reputable suppliers now.
