I put this car on my wish list 6months ago and I’m treating myself this week when I get paid I’ve just checked and the car rtr with a battery, brushless n tough is £236.00….YES £236.00 and £25.00 for shipping I was going to spend £300 on the hobby tech db8sl but you’ve converted me n I’m getting one of these. I can’t wait it’s a beast and such great value. I may change the tyres but otherwise I’m sold JR 🙏 for making my mind up. Have a great weekend 👍

I got the DBX-10 in the end instead of the 104001. So impressed by the quality of the components and specs of the ZD racing. More expensive to buy than WLToys but offers more value in my view once you factor in brushless conversions, batteries, servo and radio gear etc. Company to watch out for.
that 9kg servo is really slow thou, same for the cheap 3s battery with a low c rating, and same for those thin flimsy plastic A- arms. So in conclusion, you cant really compare the two, they both have ups and downs. but the dbx 10 is by no means a better option considering a new servo and battery is required straight out of the box. Love the finer details on the body thou, like the extinguisher and cooling tubes on the shocks etc
one is a desert/rock racer, and one is a race buggy
But the conclusion is that ZD Racing is a brand that has been flying below the radar for a while but deserve more respect in my opinion. Great quality for the price.
@@perspectivemeditation7648 changed out the servo. Agree is very slow. I’ve changed that out for 25kg. Easy and cheap enough without it being a proprietary 5 wire and being standard size. You don’t need to change out all the electronics as a result. Can’t complain too much otherwise. I’ve not experience a arm breakages yet but know is it a weaker point. 5 usd a pair delivered is not too difficult to swallow. Supplied 3300mah cased battery is fine for out the box and to get you going. I’d hardly call it junk and in need a replacement out the box. Obviously the 2 are very different cars. Im just speaking to my experience of the components and build in general when compared to the wltoys. ZD offer good value for features/quality. Wltoys without a doubt offer excellent value and a great gateway into RC and great platform to learn component and upgrades. But once you start adding in all the usual mods you start going into another price territory and maybe better to consider the likes of LCRacing. Each to their own though. As long as we’re in this hobby, it can only be a good thing! 😉

If I buy only the kit what motor, Esc and Servo should I put it on? I was thinking on a Queen Hobby 120A with a 3670 2650KV and a 15kg servo. Would it be ok?
The 120 amp esc should be fine. Maybe the motor is a little small? It comes with a 4068 Brushless Motor at 2000KV. Try and get a larger motor to get the most out of this amazing car! 😊👍

looks pretty nice for sure... are they sealed ball bearings in wheels? what battery size do you use? and does stock setup hit over 40mph ? thanks for sharing
Not hundred percent sure about the bearings as like I said in the video, I haven't worked on it much. Haven't needed too. I use the 3s battery that came with it at 5000mAh and its worked great. Stock setup we hit 49 mph which is great for the price and weight of it. 😊👍
@@JohnRobinsonRC yes its closest compitition is arma 3s typhoon...would love to see a side by side of those two... i know arma has more plastic parts but if they hold up as well or better not sure... but this car come with a 5000 mah 3s... if it 20c its worth at least $25 if it holds up well imo...arma has no battery... again this seems like a great car if it handles as well as arma it would be a tough choice...thanks for sharing

Great video, but about the wltoys 144001 what is its tire type if it is on-road or off-road, a friend of mine asked me this question and I can't answer if it's really off-road.
That's because it's neither on or off road. On road would have either small tread or none at all. Off road would have a lot of tread and deep tread. These tyres are designed for multi use. Not perfect for either on or off road but works fine on both. 😉👌 Have a great weekend! 😊👍

John I really have been following you for over a year. You got me started by teaching me how to grease 144 diffs..lol. now i have 3 104. All of which I've upgraded to brushless with mod1 gearing and all the Bells and whistles... But what I need now is your help with the ZD racing BX8E that you have but I also see the ZD racing 9020 ....which is better.?
I see the 9020 has a larger motor and is 4s capable...but i so see some negative press about it...Just give me as much insight as possible as to what u think. If u would be so kind
Good morning Anthony and I am so happy to hear you are well into the hobby. 😊 I would love to help and advise but I have one rule that I always follow and that is that if I don't own it and haven't tested it myself, I won't recommend or give advice on it. So concerning the 9020 I really can't help I'm afraid.
However the BX-8E for me has been amazing. I recently however broke a rear wing mount. But that was transporting it, not actually driving it. 😋 This car still has not broken on me. And last weekend I drove off a road, down 1.5 metres onto hard Maltese Rock and I was supposed to land slightly more to the right. Well I didn't. I landed to the left. Straight into a rock. The car stopped instantly and all of the energy expelled in a second. I assumed the car was totalled. Nope. No damage. Kept driving like normal and we continued jumping and racing a drone..... So my theory is this. If you are concerned about reliability or issues then avoid. Yes 4s would be good but these cars honestly don't need more speed. And remember I LOVE speed. But for every increase in speed you decrease handling and the top selling point on this car is that it handles great on gravel, sand, grass, mud and tarmac! Oh here is the jump. 😁😁😁

Hiya David. Sorry for the late reply. Your comment was put in the spam folder by TH-cam. Yes I see what you mean but being a ZD Racing there are various cars that share parts. ZD Racing 9020 and 9021 parts for for example. There is another one as well but I cannot seem to find it just now. If I do I will let you know. I know I have not had to order parts because nothing has broken, but every time I have searched for something (driveshaft/dogbone, front bumper) I have always found it. Have a great day. @@JohnRobinsonRC thanks so much. Well, there is something. To make it quick, the 124017 has real bad cogging. Did the program card thing and still the same. Bought a cheap Surpass hob 60A and still does the same. Not sure now if it's the motor or the company! Gona try a diff brand 3650 motor. And if the same, diff brand esc. Also greased the diff as U Sugg in ur other vid with white lithium.
Sorry, and I used the HBX 16889 esc just to try and still cogging. Now to think of it I wrote all that msg before and makes me think it's the motor??

I managed to scratch a lens about 4 months ago and have hardly used it because I didn't want to cause more damage. These lens covers cost 14 euros but obviously saved the lenses plus gave some great footage as now I can use the camera on the cars with all the gravel and dirt. Great camera for sure. 👍

Hiya and thanks for the kind words. The BX-8E has a 4060 motor 2000kv and goes up to 90 kph. The 9020v3 has a 4274 2200kv which goes to 70 kph with 4s. 😊👍
@@JohnRobinsonRC I was thinking that 4274 motor was more powerfull than 4060 ?! On 4S, 90kph for the BX-8E vs 70kph for 9020-V3, the difference is insane ! Well, so BX-8E is definitively better than 9020-V3 ?! Thanks for your response ! :)
Yes I think the 200kv difference also makes little difference so I was also confused as to why there is 20 kph difference. This however is the problem with me not owning a car. Had I had the 9020 v3 then I could advise honesty with correct information. However I only own the BX-8E so it's hard to help I'm afraid. What I can say is the BX-8E is still my favourite. If I can help any more then please just ask. 😊👍
