I just purchased one 2 days ago from "Musician's Friend" . It was shipped yesterday and it's expected delivery is this Saturday, so this podcast is interesting to me.
I re-cut the nut added string lube to the nut and the string tree. I also reset the bridge to 'not float' and stretched the strings in. With all of this it keeps quite stable though i'm not a heavy user of the trem.
Yes Rich Fender QC etc not what it should be for the price of this particular guitar. As I do tech work on guitars they are all fixable (for the most part) so I'm ok with sorting the issues for a guitar that has turned out to be really good. As for it being a keeper may well be 😊
Why don’t people buy short screws vs shimming the neck. Shims tend to cause a hump in the neck. Also from a root cause stand Point if the screws are the issue why not fix the screws instead of the neck that’s like saying my alternator is broke in my car, OK buy a new battery.
@ I would suggest checking that the neck pocket and neck heel to heel joint interface are correct before jumping the gun. I usually clean this are with some sand paper or file the neck pocket correctly if needed. I think we are programmed to follow a list of repairs without understanding the root cause…..this is called shot gunning. I’ve worked and own many Strat style guitars and never needed a shim……and I float my bridges.
@@bluwng Again fair point. The neck pocket and neck itself were very clean (I always have a good look) so as shimming the neck has worked well on couple of my other guitars I went with this option.

Once setup mine is now a great guitar. Which colour did you go for ?
@@mark_greening_gtr Hi Mark, I chose Ocean Blue with rosewood fretboard and tortoise shell pickguard, it really caught my eye. Good luck.
Love the color
great review. it looks great. thanks.
The feedback is appreciated.
Please use a lapel mic. The one on the camera is too far away to hear you as clear as it could be.
Thanks for the feedback, i'll look into getting one.
Nice guitar. What about the vibrato? Does it detune the strings?

Usual Fender ‘quality’ out of the box then…
Is that a keeper?

It's a fair point and something I'll investigate.
If you can't lower the saddles enough, you have to get a shim in there to set the neck angle right. Shorter screws won't do it.
@@AndyK.23 Thanks for that Andy as I've only ever added a shim to get the correct angle. Also it's more cost effective 😊
