    I'm studying organic chemistry, hydrocarbon. And I thought probably there is someone that doing this awesome reaction of methane + 2o2... So here I am... Very cool 😎

      I just seen a piece about ppl burning methane that was rising up out of a lake, I was left wondering were they doing it because it looks pretty or do they do it to reduce the amount of methane released into the atmosphere, hope you know because I won’t stop wondering about it, till I find out..I’ll keep looking in the meantime..organic chemistry that sounds cool..

    Hie ....Is there any chemical or solution that can be used in underground coal mines to minimize methane explosions or to absorb methane

    If hydrogen is used for filling the water bubbles, then the bubbles just detonated, creating a shockwave. But when methane is used to fill the water bubbles, they just went deflagration (No shockwave). Can somebody answer why and what's the difference between Hydrogen & Methane in this perspective?

    • @ytcry
      @ytcry 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Because there is a difference in energy. Hydrocarbons (Methan) combusting usually don't give off that much energy (shockwave). While hydrogen bubbles react more violently, therefore there is a bigger release of energy (boom)

      In order for a gas to explode, it needs to have a good ration of oxygen to fuel. Methane needs more oxygen than hydrogen. Hydrogen is closer to the ideal 2:1 ratio and therefore pops easier. That is my opinion

      Two questions--
      What created the bubbles? Was that CO2?
      And does CH4 react with H2O in room temperature?

      CH4 + 2 O2 + input energy in form of a flame or spark -> 2H2O + CO2 + energy

    I can think of 2 ways this video could have got 77 million views....
    1. His words are just short of good innuendo several times. eg. "If I stick it in here, I can create a fireball in 'my' beaker." ...oooo so close, so close. 'your' beaker = 77 million views, ..... or , "II thought it might be fun for you to hold it in your hand, and .... light it on fire." Actually, that one works, lol Bubbles, her going oooo, oooo, ooo, lol
    2. If he lit her on fire....
