- Once there was a boy named Wander, who fell in love with a local known as Mono. After an untimely death, Wander was given a chance by an mysterious spirit known as Dormin to save his beloved, that led into a fantastic and magical adventure into a whole new world. Featuring Wander, Agro, and Mono, versus the Colossi and the meanest, nastiest, and most outrageous Disney(?) villian of all: Lord Emon. It's the classic story that critics are calling, "A fucking joke" and "a kick in the balls for anyone that played this game".
Disney's(??) Shadow of the Colossus. Coming to theaters in 2019.
Okay, let's be honest here, who would even like to do a movie like this? Lionsgate?!? I bet Lionsgate would love a movie like this.
Join Matt, Pat and Woolie as they explore the Forbidden Lands and kill some colossi because some auto-tune asshole is telling us it'll revive this very important dead girl. Will they have what it takes to accomplish such a feat? Or will the stunningly beautiful graphics ruin the atmosphere before they can? Let's find out in the Zaibatsu playthrough of Shadow of the Colossus!

I love the image of Wanderer just silently carrying his "beloved" one to a forbidden land with these three It's guys talking nonstop about pretty much nonsense.
Woolie having to yell over the others' outraged blustering to say "MONO IS MOVED BY THIS." is pure comedy.

Now I can't help but think the intro is just Wander, Agro, and Mono's corpse chatting about video games as they make their way to the temple. Great job. Your editing is what make these comps so good.
So, so in the Shadow of the Colossus movie, it has to end with Wander killing the single solitary colossus. He returns to Mono's corpse and she wakes up to see he's all evil looking and shit, and that's when Mono's drunk dad and several guards come in to be like "Kill him!" and then Wander activates his Colossus Trigger and kills them all except for Mono's drunk dad, because Mono stops him and then convinces him to power down with the power of love.
Tell me that's not how the guy writing the script with "Skips stone angrily" would have ended the movie.
I'm sorry, I'm still stuck on Colossus Trigger. That's good.

So, hear me out. As the game progresses, the collossi start to look less and less like natural monster just roaming around and more like war platforms and soldiers. Basically 16 living weapons. This might lend to the explanation of why Malus cannot move. Whatever ancient civilization built all the ruins in this world never finished building him, going to far as to leave what could very well be scaffolding around his legs.
Hey catching this comment 4 years late but my favorite detail is that all of the colossi bodies disintegrate into dirt and stone upon wonder returning to the castle as you can visit them immediately after waking up to see EXCEPT MALUS who is some kind of biological thing instead of a construct of the land and dark magic.
Man I could listen to the voices in Wanders head all day long.
_allright , so according to wiki lore , Mono was sacrificed because the Elder had a vision of the return of Dorman , and the girl was the key , and so Oogway's saying of "one often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it" causes this prophecy misinterpretation as the events that make it , quite poetic_
it would be poetic if "prophecy becomes true because you try to stop it" wasnt so overdone
a cliche done right is still effective when dwarfing its thematic predecessors
everything is overdone , film, games , life is. don't be so cynical with something so subdue
Translation: that trope is ok because it's this game. And I'm ok with that.
There's value in good execution. Specially in a story like this were it's not spelled out to the viewer. You can tell a simple tale and still have it be special because of the interesting way it was told.
even a poorly interpreted cliche has some merit to itself.
because it derives from something originally creative.
it does't make it good, but it does make it admirable.

You know, you're an meticulous and earnest editor. A really good editor. I know this because the echo and varying levels of volume you patched in, to give an immersion although that trio of twits were waltzing in on Wanders quest instead of Wander, was something you really, REALLY didn't have to do. But you did, in the first minute of the video. Bravo.

god i love this playthrough.... and just to say, the "evil god" never lied. Mono was revived and Wander was the one who refused to learn the consequences of the ritual by literally saying "it doesnt matter" and he only took over when Wander was basically dying, so honestly, Dorman be good guy.
I know nearly nothing of SotC apart from watching LPs but that rejected script filled me with incoherent rage. What in the actual fuck.

The fact that they fell off the bridge in the scene where Agro is *scripted* to do that is just perfect

On the subject of the fruit at the end of the game. It's not actually poisonous, the fruit is said to make whoever eats it more human, implying that the fruit in the valley that gives you more health makes someone less human.

My favorite theory regarding why Malus is bolted to the floor is that he was still under construction, and the skirt is scaffolding.
To me the thing with the Forbidden land being kinda 'open' like that (with an access bridge and such) before Wander snuck in was because Dormin COULD be useful to that culture in the future. I mean he does grant wishes that are powerful enough to bring someone back to life as it's demonstrated in the game.
I imagine there was probably people in favor and against having Dormin being accessible in any way, so there's all those contingencies like the destructible bridge and such. Once everything went to hell because Wander walked in there without approval, they just let it all be sealed and went back home to deal with the fallout.
Listening to the three banter back and forth always makes me smile. I will always cherish SBF

You know, when Matt kept going on about how the awful leaked live action script version of Wander is "such a Final Fantasy character", I was initially kinda pissed like "Matt, what the hell do you think a Final Fantasy character sounds like?" But then it hit me "Oh. It's every main character after FF7 with the exception of maybe FF9", and I got more sad than angry.

I just realized that with Malus, since you work so hard to get to his weak spot, it's no problem to just unleash on him. Just constant stabbing with less interference than the other colossi. Also, when he dies, I think he might look like he's the most in pain. It's kinda interesting like he's the most powerful colossus, but once you get the opportunity, you kill him in no time and he doesn't just fall over like the others.

They're crooked because many of them consist of lying by omission, betrayal of expectations, and loophole exploitation, but it's true that they never straight up lie.
For example, Dormin itself never tells Wander what he'll pay in return.
