    Works perfectly fine with the KX3. It came out before the KX2 did.

    Wayne says you can get a match on 15m, too. The AXE will get you 40m and 30m.
    I ran the AX1/AXE one day from Prison Hill with a KX1 and was able to check in to the 40m Noon Net (7.284MHz) with the four watts of output from the KX1. I was astounded!

    I had an opportunity to get the AX1 for cheap from a SK auction and didn't. Now I'm kicking myself. I've seen you and K4SWL make huge contacts with that little antenna. Audio on this video is 100% improvement. Sounds excellent. Now I'm trying to figure out what the next camera should be. The 360 (from your videos) or the DJI Action.

      I'd go DJI action. The 360 is awesome but best suited to more live action. It doubles your post-production time.

    Thanks QSO Chris. AX1 works in a pinch , but please don’t stop using better antennas like EFHW! 73 DE WU7H

    Do you think this whip is compatible with kx1 too?

      I think it needs an ATU

    I’ve had great luck with my AX1 mounted atop my trekking pole with a linked/raised counterpoise. Definitely helps to be the DX station everyone is looking to work on SOTA/POTA. I’ve also noticed it really helps to have at least 10 watts during my activations. That said I’ve still had some luck with this antenna and my MTR4B. Thanks for the great videos. AG7YB.

    I always carry the AX1 with me along with the 40m coil and counterpoise. I use a small Manfrodo tripod for a mount. Works great. The only downside is the time it takes to jump around bands. So if you are hunting S2S the random wire or the like is the way to go. Otherwise for a quick activation the AX1 is FB!

      I fully agree. The random wire is a chaser's dream setup, going from 60m to 10m with the push of a button. I built a couple using the K6ARK kits.

    I see it looks like they insulate the Bi- Pod , guess not making ground side contact my error 73 J

  • @jamescrofutt8767
    @jamescrofutt8767 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Bi-pod is part of the ground side of the antenna and you can hook your counterpoise with a simple alligator clip to the Bi-pod and get the same result as hooking to the actual ground on your rig, makes it even simpler and quicker, 73 J

      The bipod is plastic and not a good ground.
