Good Question: The only advantage which I can think of is that this formula is dynamic and will automatically update; whereas you have to manually refresh a PivotTable to make sure the data is up-to-date.
Good Question! I would like to know whether it would work, too… Or maybe you would have to transpose the data first - and then use the formula on the transposed data. You could also even wrap the TRANSPOSE() function inside the GROUPBY() function - like this: GROUPBY(TRANSPOSE(A3:A18),B3:B18,SUM)
Ideally your data should be in table format and that works by using rows as files. If you are working in columns as your files I’m sure you could flip the array with transpose and it would work fine.
Is this in standard excel now? The bits shown in excel beta by all the YT creators, seem to take forever to land from when they’re demonstrated. Quite a few bits coming through I’m looking forward to but my work are at least a year behind with the version approved for us to use which is mega frustrating.
Any specific advantage using this vs Pivot? Or it's just an alternative..

Pls mention the excel version...is is available on all versions
Not available on all Excel versions - must either have a 365 sub or Excel 2024.
@@JJ_TheGreatnot available in 2024 version, only in 365 insiders
Hi what if the data is in column not row

You must have either a 365 sub or Excel 2024.
This is assuming you have the latest version of Excel!

Isn't it pretty much SUMIF function?
But it is better than SUMIF - easier to use and more versatile.
You’d need to list the parameters for sumif either manually or by using unique function. This is dynamic and would grow with your data.
Not working..
Do you have it?
Bye bye SUMIF
Yes!
