I'm gonna give that a try. I know guys that use jewelry cleaner but your method is way more cost effective. Thanks for the video

Thanks for this Richard! Definitely worth an hour of time and looks easy enough. Will definitely try this method.

You should look into getting a Harbor Freight ultrasonic cleaner and some LA's Totally Awesome all purpose cleaner. Completely disassemble the engine and run the parts through three or five 8 minute cycles and it WILL look and perform like new. A lot of the bogging, cranking over hard and various other problems can be traced back to a gunked up engine both inside and out. This isn't something you need to do every time you run your engine but once at the end of every flying season or two wouldn't hurt. The way you are doing it is more of a after every flight maintenance procedure.

Oh, I forgot to say to mix your LA's with very hot or boiling tap water. Even better if you use distilled or filtered/bottle water to control minerals, calcium, lime etc..etc..

Harbor Freight Ultrasonic Cleaner and diluted LA is the only way to clean a glow engine! Virtually no scrubbing at all - 8 minutes. Completely amazing. Shout out to the Glow Engine Enthusiast for developing this combination!

The easy way is a mild acid and an ultrasonic cleaner turn it on for about 30 seconds and they come out squeaky clean.

To each their own. That is one way to do it. However, with a toothbrush and everything you already have in your shop, you can do it well without spending money on an ultrasonic cleaner 🤷🏻‍♂️

Just subscribed, nice content. Would like to see more nitro engine content. Btw, is the carb on backwards on that Super Tigre you cleaned up? Looks, like you fixed it for the AFTER pic at the very end!

Glad to hear, thanks for subscribing! I’ve had thoughts of making some videos when I get “new” used engines and get them running, maybe that’s something I’ll try. And yes it was originally on backwards, good eye!

@@invertedadventuresrc I just picked up a handful of old planes and engines at our clubs auction and have started to go through them and get them running again.
I just put a Great Planes Patriot back in the air with its OS 46 SF. lots of cleaning needed on that one. Next up is a Super Tigre G51 with a broken servo arm on the carb and a broken exhaust mount boss. I got everything freed up and cleaned up, now time for the repairs.

@@superdutyspinner fantastic! I like to buy up estate sales or auction lots, things of that like and clean some stuff up, keep some and sell some to help fund the hobby. Before a sold a dozen or 2 I had about 50 nitro 2 stroke and 4 stroke motors but I realized they’d never all see planes so I sold what I new id never use. I still have too many though haha!

Good stuff! I'm looking for a decent .25 or a .26 (4 stroke) for an upcoming Speedy Bee build. If you're interested in selling one please lmk.
