My ring of fire is eight months old and enormous. I moved it from a 6" pot to a 12" pot maybe four months ago and put it outside for the summer. A few days ago I moved it to a massive planter, maybe 18", where it will hopefully stay forever. I've got to try a moss pole! I'm new to plants and I just have it loosely tied to a stick to keep it from lying on its side, but I see now what it needs.
Cool to know we can grow this on a moss pole successfully. I might give it a try as I’m struggling with space. Thanks again! I always appreciate your attention to detail and focus on education.
I got one of these as a teeny tiny plug earlier this year and I’m looking forward to growing it out to this! You’re one of the few people that has good pics of a mature plant on a pole, so thank you as always for being a mature-plant resource!😊
I did not know ring of fire was a climber? Ahh. I watched more of it and now I see. lol I was lucky enough to get one at my local Kroger grocery and its leaves didn’t fall off! She’s growing nicely, not as well as yours of course, but hey, all her leaves are intact so I view it as a win.
Hi Jan and Bradley! Thank you so much for your videos. I just made my 1st moss pole last night for my junior Monstera Deliciosa. I'll be making 2 more this week for my junior Thai Constellation and Albo! Love your videos. So grateful!
My self heading ( mounding) philodendrons tend to feel wobbly in their pots without stakes or moss poles. Fortunately I saw you mount ROF on moss pole and did the same for my own struggling with root rot, which saved his life! 1.5 yrs on now, all roots grew into the moss pole, the pot is just a sturdy base to hold and catch water now. Thanks again Jan, your growing concepts are 🔥😻
Wow! I’ve never considered a moss pole for a mounding philodendron. I usually insert a small stake if my mounding philodendrons start to lean. Your Ring of Fire is the GOAT!
This video really shows how back breaking repotting a plant can be. Especially bigger plants! Your ring of fire is gorgeous, and I hope one day mine can grow to be as luscious as yours.
🔥 I bought my first Ring of Fire Aurea a couple of weeks ago from AJ & had been struggling to find quality information until today. I’m saving money & resources thanks to your tips & hints. Thanks Jan 🙏🏼😇
I love you plant ideas, I more so watch you because you keep me laughing specially on a bad day. I just love you and the fucking remodeling of the neighbor’s house had me in tears. They really pissed you off😂😂😅😂
I’ve been keeping an eye on this plant & I really liked it so I just had to buy one for myself & my daughter. Three baby ones at a good price, they are coming along nicely & when I split them I think I will do this with the third one. Thanks 👍👍
I didn’t realize it could go on a moss pole, all of mine are growing in a circle, the new ROF’s in Canada are super orange. Love it so much. I unfortunately gave my first one root rot, she’s still recovering. Lesson learned I hope. My jungle boogie/Narrow is as big as yours right now, looking forward to seeing my ring of fire that big!
This video was perfect timing, because I just got my first ring of fire! It has a few aerial roots, so I was wondering if I should put it on a moss pole 🤩 thank you!!!
.. Wow 😳 but that's huge 😲 I've got one but that little critter is no more than a 10 cm baby living in my kitchen window.. I've seen a new leaf 🤔 the other day, burning orange colour it is, like a flame.. Think it's going to be a while before I have to create a moss pole for it.. So thank you for showing what to do and how, when it's time 🤗
This video made me double check on my Jungle Boogie's preferred growth pattern (they look like cousins to me) and I read that this Boogie is also a climber. I will make some support moves now. 🔥
Love the plant spotlights :) I'm personally not incredibly into its usual upright growth pattern but the way its presented here is pretty cool! A friend gave me an imperial red and a prince of orange and im thinking of maybe doing something similar with them as theyre also growing upright.. No idea if that would work but might be worth a try.
Well done , I bought a Ring of Fire at QLD Garden Expo last week at Nambour, you should have a stall there next year with Tim promoting moss poles ✅✅love the pot , is it a Bunnings one
I got a ROF for 10 US dollars. I love it. Not sure if I will put it on a moss pole just yet. It's short and fat with a wingspan of around 18 inches (40.6cm). Thank you for this plant spotlight. I hope this becomes a series. Give Bradles a smooch for me!
Thank you so much for the tips on the Ring of fire I have one that's 5 months old and I was wondering what to do with it whether to put it on the moss pole or not thanks so much.
Hello Jan, Quick question about watering after you transfered your gorgeous Ring of Fire: Did you water directly after or did you let the sphagnum moss dry out to eliminate the spores to reduce the risk of mold ? I'm having loads of issues with those D shape poles, which are not as aerated as the homemade ones and have some mold issues. Do you plan on making a video about mold issues with spagnum moss and ways to prevent them ? That would be very helpful for a lot of people... But, in the other hand... If you havn't encountered that issue, you can't really speak from experience, which is totally understandable. It is an issue that is basically environmental, based on each person's conditions, I guess. Finding sdolutions online on this issue is quite tough so if you have tips, that'd be wonderful !!!
Beautiful RoF! ❤🤩 Thank you for this video! I put mine on a mosspole after I saw you did it, and I don't regret that 😃 but when the roots start peaking out of the top of the mosspole, what do I do with them?? The plant is far from reaching the top of the pole, so I really don't want to extend it.. 🤔 Any tips? And, will it increase the varigation with more light? Thank you 🥰
I do nothing with the roots on top :) the tip will dry out eventually :) from my experience light can definitely encourage more variegation but also seems to be random
keep seeing this in your prev video in the background... mount on a grow pole... so i copied and put mine on a pole... was wondering when you talk about it...
Hi, first, thank you for all the great informative videos. I wanted to ask a moss pole question. For small plants, should I give them small or standard size Moss Poles? I am wondering if I give them a small pole, at some point I'll have to switch to a larger pole and will look bad. On the other hand. it would look funny (and perhaps a waste of moss) if I give them a large pole. Thanks in advance for your help 🙂
Idk what I do wrong my plants domt seem to take to the moss poles with their roots the poles mostly end up just being support not as an extension with their roots like yours do but I still try them over and over!
🔥🔥🔥RoF is one of my faves too, also Hi Jan & Breatzel❤ Jan, would you know why my Epi Jessenia randomly browns a leaf in the middle of growth, starting from one edge, along 1 half and then continuing on other half... I can't figure it out 😭 Thank you and stay warm over the ditch ❤
“Doesn’t even look good after, didn’t look good before either.” 😂😂😂😂😂 the shade
😂😂 the truth can be harsh, I know 💁🏻♂️
i like that you do informational vids and not just show off vids and free plant unboxing vids

Very good point!! Definitely gives it more stability and reduces the risk of it just snapping :)
I’m literally pissing myself laughing how pissed you are today! Love it 😅
Me too 😂😂 I've never seen Jan this pissed 😂
Could not deal with the noise that day haha

The RoF surely made good use of the pole :) but definitely not needed :)
A really great plant! But the real "Ring of Fire" is curled up on the stool at the beginning.😂😂😂
My little ring of fluff 🥰🥰
I saw this at the U.S botanical garden. They get sooo big. Very beautiful!
🔥 I love this plant, and the leaf size is phenomenal
Thanks :)
❤🔥I have one of those, and now I have more insight into its growth habits. Thanks!
Happy growing :)
❤ I just got my ,like 3 months ago. About 12 inches wide. But I love the new leaves coming out.
That’s gorgeous. Mine are happy outdoors in good indirect light under my porch. I’m so excited to watch this!
I just purchased ring of fire from a big box store and I'm excited to see how big it will get. Thank you Sydney Plant Guy for the tutorial 🥰
I have to admit that I struggle with this plant. Your Ring of Fire is beautiful 💚
Most likely not enough light, but hard to say without seeing a photo :)
oh that's a smart way to adjust & widen the mash/pole, great tips! I'm interested to see how the multiple growth points will become.
Thanks :) i’ll keep u updated on here hehe:)

Try more light :) happy growing !
I put mine on a moss pole months ago. I can't wait to see what it does. Thank you for all the inspiration you and Bradley give.
Happy growing :) thank you!
That ROF has gone mad! 😂
Very nice and interesting. I have never seen one of these plants before.

I just got two at Lowe’s!!!! They are gorgeous.
Love this plant, I’ve followed you footsteps and also have mine on a pole. Looking forward to watching it grow and mature ❤❤

🔥 I love this plant but just can not justify how much space it needs. good for the garden 🤪
Yes it’s definitely a space commitment … would probably not buy it again but while I have it … might as well make the best out of it :)

I haven’t put my RoF on a pole, I love the compact size it is though so I probably won’t, self-heading Philodendron are great for that! 🔥
