No guys, the whole point IS for them to have the same names, because THAT is what Disney does. They just swap out the original characters for something diverse. Like with The Rings of Power and Interview with a Vampire and Percy Jackson. The characters all have the same names but somehow they're ALL multi cultural and diverse. I mean Percy Jackson and pretty much EVERY character in that franchise is based in Greek God Lore and ALL their Gods were WHITE, yet the new show has an extremely diverse cast with White people being a minority. It makes absolutely ZERO sense in ay way for the characters to NOT be white.
How is that not actual cultural appropriation at that point? I thought that wasn’t cool, but apparently if you’re white that doesn’t matter.
They do it because it gets people like you mad which brings them views.

THAT is the issue. Hollywood gave them an olive branch and now they DEMAND a whole ass forest. It's just greed; pure and simple greed.
Seems to me this was saying that there isnt a problem with having shows and movies with diverse characters, its that they are not making original shows and movies but simply redoing old shows that people love with new diverse characters. There isnt a problem with having a female archeologist movie, just dont make it Indiana Jones. Make a new movie from scratch and cast who you want. And also, forcing a certain demographic from every possible group is bad. (mmkay). when you try and get "one type of everything" to appease everyone, that doesnt work. it makes everyone hate it, it doesnt satisfy everyone, it makes everyone unsatisfied. (my take anyway)

True. It's what the gender studies and DEI professions have become. Young people were convinced they needed these pseudo-educations and now they can't find a job because there's way too many of them fighting for the same pretend professions that more and more companies understand aren't needed.
Glad we don't have billionaires trying to flood the US market with cheap labor. That would suck.
South Park is on point with this one. Before Disney's overcorrection, they made heartwarming cartoons teaching children about the tough parts of life in a sweet way. Feels more like indoctronation at this point - think that might be one of the reasons why Disney is loosing billions at the moment. Most parents doesn't feel comfortable having a multi billion dollar entertainment company filling the minds of the kids at such an impressionable age with their points of views.
Disney did NOT take this well.

The voice actors they hired to play the diverse women versions of the kids did a GREAT job capturing the way the kids talk, especially Cartman & Butters.

So she IS technically a Disney Exec, as Disney owns LucasFilm and she's their CEO, but she doesn't have any executive say in Disney's own property nor in anything Marvel. Normal episodes go to HBO and specials go to Paramount, they kinda betrayed HBO contract doing this and are being sued tho, but they got over a billion dolars for both deals so thats the reason.
