Have a 5 ton electric splitter from another retailer. It is just used for kindling. Rounds are split using a 28 ton gas powered model or by hand.

This saves my back, if was splitting enough to need a bigger unit I would get a gas or tractor pto unit

I’ve been using one a month or so. I was squatting beside it while using it and thought ‘I wonder if these logs ever fly out’. Instantly the log flew out and hit me in the forehead HARD. It was a log that wasn’t trimmed square on each end. I am behind it now when I use it 😮

I feel like it would be ideal to be off the ground some sort of work platform with safe guard

@@UncleMike1776 I bought a garden cart from harbor freight - not the one with the high sides to move it around. Someone on TH-cam reviewing it had one.

I would weld some kind of teeth or serrated surface on the ram end so the wood couldn't slide off and hit someone in the face, etc.The larger splittters all have teeth on their rams.

Now who wants to be on their knees or bent over to run a splitter? Not me.
I'd have some legs on it so I could work at waist height, and have some kind of platform or table mounted on the back side of the wedge to catch the pieces after they're split so they don't just fall on the ground.

@@PainterD54 I put it on my deck over trailer after then use, or a bench would work well!

@@UncleMike1776 I will make a stand with wheels on one end to move it around and steel plates on each side of the beam and a large plate on the end of the splitter for the split pieces to slide on to so they don't end up on the ground.

@@PainterD54 that would be a nice way to modify the tool!
