It's important to place your skip shots close to the goalie. It leaves him little time to react and if done with enough power, it will be an instant goal. The shots in the example are all placed way to far away the goalie, it's okay to do a lot of skip shots, but mix them up and only use it as a surprise.

Rinze Hartman in order to get the ball to rise to one of the upper corners, you need to skip the ball off the water right about where he was skipping it. Plus, remember most goalies do not defend from inside the goal, they are usually up to 1m out in front of the goal to get a better angle.

Can someone please tell me how to shoot with backspin as well as power? As I am not able to get the power if I try shooting with backspin and when I shoot with power, there is no backspin

im no expert. but I play goalie and i often use my tendencies to help my teammates. I think when playing with a ball thats fully blown up, it's important to recognize the goalie you're playing against, most high level goalies come out higher and thus leave an area under their armpits as long as you place your skip on the goal line you wont have to worry about your ball sticking due to over inflation. Also, every ball is different, so when you warm up take some skip shots with the counter ball.

I'm a goalie and Ihate it when the field players take skip shots on me. Any tips on how to block one, I was once told to breaststroke kick up and foward and land on top of the ball.

AndrewMelgoza I realize that I’m about 4 months late lol, but with skip shots try to go out towards the ball instead of up. You’ll have a much better chance of blocking the ball by stopping it before it skips than trying to get a hand on it after it already has.

if a skiphot is correctly made, i.e. it bounces on the right spot (=neither too close to you so that you can go on the bounce preventing it to skip, nor too far so that you have time to see where the ball is headed) then you are pretty fucked. But this is not a easy task for a shooter anyway! The same saving advice applies to skipshots as well: eye contact with the ball, jump forward and so on :)

my coach always yells at me for taking skip shots and I honestly don't know why. in our recent JO tournament I scored 6 goals in my best game and all of them were skip shots (the goalie didn't touch one of them, plus we won) and after the game my coach yelled at me and made me do 100 push ups. advice anyone?

My coach yells at me for similar reasons and the biggest thing for him is the predictability. If my most used shot is a lob then the other team knows to set up for my lob. He always tells me to practice all my shots and use them all during a game so I'm not predictable.

+Rich cunningham I would ask your coach why he is so opposed to you taking these shots. you can always counter with your accuracy and percentage of goals made.

usually skips and lobs are reserved for when you think you cant get a good confirmation that you can score with a straight shot, or when you dont have a certain advantage over the goalie, e.g. when the goalie is very good at saving outside shots,/ when the shooter holds the ball for some time and the goalie is focused on the shooter early on, or when the shooter is not shooting off a pass/ when its a penalty. when the shooter takes a shot the first choice is always a straight shot because thats the most accurate and reliable shot a shooter can make, if not, then skip or lobs come to play. skip shots are used when you are not in a position to do a straight shot accurately and really just need to whack the ball in. your coach prob scold u coz he wants you to perfect your most basic and most accurate shot first i.e straight shot before doing skips, i.e he wants you to learn to walk before learning to run
