Honestly, Wei Wuxian going after his sister's fiance is one of my favorite parts of the show.

I do really love the fact that Wangxian’s love was mutual since past life. It’s like an alternative development of their relationship. Because in the novel Wei Ying didn’t even see Lan Zhan as his friend ( and I’m not even talking about “soulmates”). Later he fell for him, and they created everyday’s stuff. Here they meet, become friends and later fall for each other)

Lan Zhan's gaze was so warm when he saw the rabbit, deathly when Wei Ying said "ni xiao le", solemn when he saw the lantern flew away, full of admiration when he heard Wei Ying's wishes. I really really love the scene when Wei Ying said his wishes, his smile and expression was so pure and sincere, while Lan Zhan gaze at him so passionately and then slowly revert his gaze. Wei Ying has break his calmness during the punishment with him and start the fire in him (start to live), know him better at the cave, talks more to Wei Ying, and finally acknowledge him at the lantern release, realizing what kind of person Wei Ying really is. But still get annoyed by him (the ants)! 😂
And, he just said the same wishes in his heart. 😍
WEI ying’s wish that he made with the lantern is his entire personality and life goal, he has whole lot of integrity and brave, thats why i like this novel at first place.
Exactly... And what is more powerful is that LZ was raised to differentiate between black and white, while WWX showed him the grey areas. So with his first life, LZ was conflicted until WWX died and in those 16 years (13 years according to the novel) LZ reflected on his principal, teachings, and standards which lead to him having his biggest regret. Such a beautifully written novel. With WWX second life, he stuck to him like glue. He wasn't letting WWX get away again.

I think one of my very favourite scenes from the whole serie is when Wei Wuxian makes Lan Zhan smile for the first time 😅❤
I especially like the scene starting from 19:32. Lan Zhan's a smile at the moment he saw We Ying's lantern really got me. And when they were releasing their lantern and made a wish ... that main BGM was so emotional.
The entire lantern scene is one of my favorite scenes from the whole series. There's tenderness, surprise, humor, wonder, etc. And the look that Lan Zhan gives Wei Ying while he makes his wish is just....breathtaking. Wow. I think this is the moment that LZ's crush/sexual attraction begins turning into real love.

I'm sure everyone has already fallen in love with his handsomeness, cheerful character and killer smile but this side of him was just unexpected .. Because we get to see how different his wish is from everyone else.. and so how different his heart is from everyone else: the most mature, deepest and most beautiful heart❤️ and this is the start to our love getting on another level for Wei Ying

Of course I really like the WangXian scenes here (and oh my god there are a lot 😍😍) but can we also notice the fact that Papa Jin's rejection of Shijie is much more painful here since Shijie actually heard it. The way she stroked and fixed Wei Wuxian's hair to stabilize herself and her emotions is really heartbreaking 😭😭 Really props to the actors and all who worked on this drama 👏👏👏

Also highlighting the difference between the two brothers, how one displays strength while the other is weak. Xichen is older, emotionally mature, self assured, he lives a reclusive life bound by rules but doesn't expect Lan Zhan to live the same life forever. He senses his brother is solemn perhaps feeling trapped desires something else but unable to voice it or even realize what they are. He sees in wei ying a free spirit with bountiful potential that could help lan Zhan open up. Xichen is not concerned about the negative impact wei ying will have on the pristine image of Lan Zhan he just wants his brother to lead a happy life, no matter what form that might take.
Jian cheng is plagued by insecurities owing to the damage done by his horrid mother, he is not concerned about what wei ying wants but more so what he needs, this is not his fault because he is lonely and his nature doesn't allow him to make friends easily outside of his siblings. He knows he is not as talented as wei Ying and is afraid to lose that reassuring strength his brother provides him and comfort that together they can overcome any odds. Wei ying sacrifices his very essence to protect Jian Cheng, whether Jian Cheng admitted it or not but his desperation to keep Wei Ying at his side come what may caused both of them misery.
