Highschool ohtani wrote down "what I need to be the best player", and one of those were "to be polite and respectful". Ever since I saw that, I started thinkin like "He's not polite because he is a good person, this is just a Baseball monster acting nice just to be the best". WBC was successful because Ohtani committed to playing and then Mike Trout followed suit and other US players followed him. Any other person, this would have another tournament of electrician baseball players. Oh and once again, the Angels trusted Ohtani and didn’t limit him and he got glory in the end. Well the WBC is a tournament and is the baseball equivalent to the World Cup. Many sports, basketball, soccer,even volleyball have their version of the World Cup. The World Cup across Sports are always seen as a bigger event than even the Olympics and bigger even than the World series or the Super bowl,which are mainly domestic league championship between MLB teams. And to simply put it the WBC will always gain in popularity like outside the United States it doesn't matter if Americans don't like the WBC the rest of world cares and will continue to view the WBC even if the United States doesn't participate it doesn't matter. The USA mens soccer has never made it past the group stages in the world cup. Even if the Americans stop viewing soccer and the World Cup there are billions outside the United States that will tune in to watch the World Cup. Point is international tournament events will always be popular outside the United States own little world and will continue to be viewed by millions or even billions more. Then any domestic championship tournament than the World series. When people say baseball is dying there referring to the MLB not baseball as a Sport. Because on an international level baseball will always have more viewership than the World series. It's the same in Soccer, Basketball and volleyball domestically are very boring but on an international level it always remains popular and the most watched event because people want to see their country win a World Championship title and be called World Champions.
