    Love your content! Studied Eng Lit in school under a superb teacher where I first came across alliteration n metaphors. Yours is the best articulation on these yet... done with crisp clarity and due interest. You even elaborate on how we capture and use them in that split second as we scan and pick from the array of synonyms attached to our evolving emotions. Great job!

    I think the exemples of “methaphors” are actually Metonymy. And the metonymy creates the contrary effect of being prosaic as it is used for doublespeak and euphemisms, it sounds creepy. At least in the current usage of poetic language.

      I created a habit contract for everytime I say uhh, I keep a counting app and when I get home or get the chance, I do 5 pushups for every single “uhh” on my counter. I also record myself speaking 30 seconds a day - which I plan to turn into 1 minute soon as I do it more

      I don't think beating a habit out of yourself is really the best way to proceed. With something as mental as language the best and easiest way would be to change your mindset on how you speak. No one actually cares if you stop to think for a second and most people already do this anyway.

    Hi Joesph. People who experience states of mania often employ a poetic use of language in an attempt to communicate the vast spectrum of new perceptions and salient beauties in daily life experienced from a new energetic perspective. We play with language through clanging, metaphor/similes, alliteration, neologisms, rhyme etc. These awkwardly awakened faculties are employed as evidence of symptomology whereas I sense humanity needs a language upgrade. Or perhaps a perception upgrade that would create a selective pressure for artful articulation and the use of dialogue where we unfold meaning rather than social structures and theory of mind. Can you do a video on how most people are afraid of polysyllabic words and how to know when it’s ‘safe’ to be expansive with language? Since I was diagnosed bipolar I’ve been interested in language and the spontaneous vulnerable speech that can manifest. I let it flow by talking to myself on video.

    Comedians practice metaphor. The greatest metaphors are thought through.

    I was trying to type an articulate comment so much so that I couldn't type anything at all. Do you have a solution that allows to step out of this perfectionistic bubble and... well I don't know how to say it😭.

    Would you advise discarding the phrase “read between the lines” which means to write and speak so that the words you say are to be taken literally.
    I can play with words but I feel like when you’re writing about things that you need to reason with, I’m hesitant to be “athletic” with the words because they might not make sense if taken in a literal sense

      I would wager that women orators in 2023 are more powerful than male orators. Most of the examples used tend to be from men who are bordering senile and sound like they live in the past. While it's clear they have a strong grasp on the language, it doesn't translate well into 2023, at least personally. Many women in particular are able to keep their speech modern sounding while displaying an equally strong understanding of language.

    Is writing the most effective way of improving the vocabulary?

  • @igniculusquartz1827
    @igniculusquartz1827 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    heavy emphasis on "CLASSICAL" in "classical flavouring". of course some of these will help you sound more astute however i'd wager that most would find your speech archaic rather than articulate should you incorporate those turns of phrase in your vocabulary, specifically in regards to "great many" and "tremendously". there is certainly nothing wrong with sounding a bit more old school, but i think we should proceed with the nuance that "older" sounding speech (for lack of better term) doesn't immediately equate to more refined or "better" speech.

      @@Anya-ef3sb there's probably a place for it but I don't think people here are looking to be corny comedians.
      It's always good to get to the point when you're in a professional setting, I don't think this method is appropriate.

    Hey Joseph your videos are easier and more demanding to follow along when you have no music in the background.
