Lewis was just a big scary man. Big with a long reach. Holyfield fights on the inside. He sometimes seemed to struggle with the jab. Hence Michael Moorer, Riddick bowe, John Ruiz, and Lewis. 26:57 - Without those 'roided up neck and trapezius muscles and giant HGH head, there's no way "Evan Fields" doesn't go down from that devastating uppercut. Lewis nailed him with one on the way in seconds before this one and was legitimately trying to knock him out all fight. Lewis is 250lbs and Holyfield was barely fazed by them.
Lewis was one of the smartest heavyweights. He knew exactly when it was time to retire. He didn’t hang around just for easy paychecks and didn’t get his brain scrambled like so many others. Definitely under appreciated in his day.

Great, great fight. I had Lewis winning this fight by 4 rounds. This was a tough fight. Lennox Lewis is a very smart fighter thanks to Emmanuel Stewart. Evander Holyfield what else can we say. Evander is a real fighter. When you beat him you got to beat him in every phase of the fight. Lewis used his size advantage to keep Evander off of him.
Both were great champ boxers . Holyfield, three times world champ and Lennox Lewis , undisputed World Champ winning an Unification and he knew how to retire without injuring his brain . I remember when Lewis fought against Holyfield first time : It was a Draw with a great fight and any of both could win . Second Match between both : Lewis won by points but Holyfield fought like a warrior without being easy at all to Lewis
both of them is the one of legendary fighter. great fight, btw holyfield is my father's favorite boxer.. still remember when i saw this fight together with him. superb fight. thanks for upload. 😀
I remember back in that era, I didn't like Lennox Lewis at all, and a lot of American's felt that same way about him. The media did a great job of making him look like a gentleman among savages even though he was actually a warrior despite the perceptions of him being soft. I still don't know how any great fighter can be thought of as being soft, but it happens. The perception of Lennox as a fighter back then was a little bit insane, and unwaranted when I look back on it now. It wasn't until he earned back his WBC belt against Mccall, and beat Holyfield to earn Undisputed status that he started gaining a little bit more respect from the American fanbase. Also, the second fight with Rahman, and the title defense against Vitali Klitschko earned him more respect as well. Lewis still didn't get his full due respect until after he retired. He was similar to Larry Holmes in the sense that many boxing fans didn't fully understand what we were witnessing until it was over, and done. What's funny is that over the last two decades, I came to love Lennox Lewis, and he became one of my favorites of all time after his retirement. I learned a lot more about him after his retirement, and that made me gain unlimited respect for him as a man, and a fighter. We all should have seen the obvious truth in front of our eyes since the beginning of his career, but sometimes you have to prove people wrong to get your due credit in life. That's what guys like Lennox Lewis, Sonny Liston, George Foreman, Larry Holmes, and so many others had to do. It's sad, but it's just the way it is sometimes. Not everyone can be loved and celebrated like Michael Jordan, Michael Jackson, Prince, or Muhammad Ali for just being themselves.
I'm one of those Americans who hated Lewis but this man rose among the killers of the 90's which imo was just as dangerous as the 70's heavyweights. In his last fight, he was pushing 40, war torn but destroyed the face of Vitali Klitschko on two weeks notice. People who cry about why he didn't rematch Vitali probably hated Lewis more than we did lol.
Evander teaching greatest boxing in 7. Greatest of all time. Inprobable to have another of his kind ever again. Only big solid guys like Lewis . It is not tha same though...
Lenox Louis this match you win but you boxing style not good full defending but you see Tyson full time attacking boxer really world number one boxer iron Tyson second evander holifield third Lenox louis
I like Hollyfield but the truth is he could be real dirty at times with the headbutts. He did that shit all the time. He cut Tyson with a headbutt and he cut Lewis with a headbutt in this fight. He was never penalised for it either but I always put that down to how sneaky he was with it. Same old biased commentary that the US is known for. Hollyfield lands a little shot and they go crazy. Lol. Lewis was by far the baddest heavyweight of that era.
I agree, he uses his head as a shield to attack, an its difficult to see, cos he charges in with it an once his head hits his opponents he follows through with punches 😂😂,
I dont see Lewis winning at all... Holyfield was the bravest man on Earth despite his weight dissavantage. He wasnt really a real heavyweight fighter like Lewis or Bowe which makes him even greater.
Larry Holmes is the greatest Heavyweight champ followed by Ali, and Tyson, Foreman, Lennox Louis. In all his fights, Holmes was knocked out 1 time. By a young Mike Tyson in his prime and way past Holme's prime, with as little as 4 weeks to prepare because of Don King rushing the fight. Came back from retirement and had a successful career into his early 50s including beating Ray Mercer and taking it to Evander Holyfield.

Lewis is a better fighter, both men tried, Lewis did well in the first fight, this time as he is aware of potential fight steal by judges, he went for the knock out, exposing himself more.
Holyfield was more skilled. Lewis had a reach and height advantage and was 4 years younger. With how close this fight was, a prime Holy would've most likely beat Lewis
U prvoj borbi Holyfield je uvjerljivo bio bolji a u ovoj su bili ravnopravni ! Mislim da je prva borba bila neriješena u dogovoru da se još jednom uzme novac !
How did I see the fight? In my opinion, there is no doubt, no controversy, Lewis won it. Evander won 3 rounds (6,7,12) with one 10-10 round or one more round for him. So 8-3-1 or 8-4, 117-112 or 116-112 for Lewis. Many people say that Holyfield won it, I disagree. Because, if we stick to the rules, his agression and hard punches were not enough to win. Effective agression criteria says that in order to be "effective" one must have success landing and ducking opponents punches consistently while moving forward. Landing just few hard shots in the round and getting hit while moving forward is not an effective agression. Lewis was the one who landed more punches in almost every round which wouldn't be possible if Holyfield was an effective aggressor through the fight. Clean and Hard Punching criteria says that both light and hard punches have to be counted. This is very subjective because we don't know exactly how damaging some shots were or not, however it should be noted that landing 3 or 4 punches that hurt an opponent in the last seconds of a round are not enough to make up for losing the first two and a half minutes of the round where he was out-boxed. That's what Holyfield was doing in some of those rounds that people gave to him, he was getting out-boxed for most of them and didn't try to win but "steal" them with few hard punches. The good example is round 3 where Lewis won like 2:30 minutes, then Holyfield stunned him at the very end with one hard punch and threw few more big punches with some of them missing the target. Once again, this is my opinion. Everything is in the eye of beholder and I saw it like this.
