26:45 'Hindustani' can mean Urdu or Hindi (which are much the same as each other, main difference being that they are written in different scripts). So yes, if she learnt Urdu from Abdul, then it would be fair to say that she couldve addressed her troops in 'Hindustani'.
There is a photo of my dad at a street party for the 1936 Jubilee in a small northern Mill town, aged three. I was 9 in 1977, it rained so we had a party in our garage for the kids on the street. We had made our own Union flags with card and crayons, and the bunting was home made too.
This is super interesting to me because I actually just found out about Jubilee. From a news post about prince Andrew being banned from it(I dont know if it's true or not). Having recently discovered your podcast channel it's nice to hear about this Royal Celebration!
As a retired primary school teacher: going dressed as Mozambique is a doddle 😀You just find out the colours in their flag and go dressed in those colours. Please avoid doing a Trudeau 😂
I have read that during times of civil wars and other types of upheavals since William the Conqueror, Britain’s aristocracy was less affected compared to the aristocracies of other countries . The stranglehold of the privileged was maintained. The inability of the lower classes to rise was more pronounced in England. So too, the existence of monarchies in Britain, Denmark, Holland, and a few other countries is “unsettling” to me. I understand wanting to respect your own culture, but in this age, it’s gone too far. The monarchies should be dismantled. I am a big fan of the show.

What? That northern mill town - well they're all the same aren't they?

"Written by office boys for office boys" Now I know where Saki got the idea for "The Yarkand Manner."
I thought the opening quote would be from Dominic Sandbrook! I hope Peter Hitchens succeeds in his attempt to abolish daylight savings.
