Anthony McWilliams you'll love it! The cold air intake makes a huge difference in sound and feel! You can really hear it suck in the air from the front when you rev it, and it completely changes the exhaust sound!
Thanks for the video. Very helpful and informative. Brought up a few things I failed to consider. Hopefully will do this project by end of year. Good luck on future projects!
Thanks to not having springs/hydraulics,if your really tall (6’7” ME) or short, the hood should be pretty easy to remove. I personally haven’t looked yet but I’ve removed others. Good Video, very informative, thank you!
Randy Haynes definitely! Being able to take more air in completely changed the sound of the exhaust and made it sound more sporty. Also a big difference in power! Before, it would barely chirp the tires when shifting to second gear, and now it will easily spin the tires! And the ram air really helps with overtaking at speeds above 45 mph. As far as MPG, the most I ever saw before was 35.7 on the dash calculator. The most I've seen since was 37.4.
Yes, did it all myself within 2 hours. It's not hard, just be careful removing the bumper to not scratch the paint. Have someone help you get it on and off if you can.
Nice video. Did you notice any increase in the horsepower of the car or in acceleration? What ids the part number for ordering the ram air kit from Mopar.
I noticed a big difference in response and acceleration! These cars aren't powerful, so any little thing like this helps a lot. I also noticed a nice difference in fuel mileage. The biggest change by far was the sound... as soon as I installed the ram air and cold air intake, you would think that I installed a completely different exhaust system! Much more aggressive tone that is fun to listen to. I don't have the part number, but you can buy it all on modernperformance.com
Thank you for your reply. I just installed the Mopar cold air intake 2 days ago and I have to agree with you about the sound. The throttle response is almost instantaneous and sounds more crisp and clear. Next project is the ram air intake for the hood and the bored out throttle body.
@@daviddiamante1223 the ram air makes a noticeable difference with fuel economy and acceleration from 45mph and up because of the higher airflow. Those two things alone make the car more fun to drive! Let me know what kind of difference the throttle body makes because I've been on the fence about it for a long time!
punisher cavazos I've been through several drive through car washes, hand washed it, and driven close to 500 miles in steady non-stop rain at highway speeds and not had a single issue! The cold air box has channels that route water out, and the Mopar cold air filter is made to be water resistant.
I got it directly from Mopar's website. If they don't make it anymore then you might be able to find it on eBay. Good luck, it's worth the effort and money!
Hey man, I’m really new to modding cars and don’t know a lot. I mainly want to do visual mods for my dart and want a hood scoop. I was wondering if you could provide a link for the hood scoop you have. And I was wondering how easy it was to install the cold air intake cause that is something I want to do. If I add the cold air intake will I need to do any other mods or will it be fine on its own?
The actual hood came on the car as the sport package, but you can probably buy it from Mopar. The kit to make the scoop functional like this video I bought from Mopar's website. The cold air intake doesn't require anything else but you have to remove your front bumper cover in order to remove your stock intake
Was the Mopar cold air intake easy to install? Also I read that you need to get a Mopar cold air radiator shield for all post 2013 Darts. Was that something you got as well and if so was that easy to install? I just got a 2015 Sxt and have been on the fence about the Mopar cold air intake mostly because I'm unsure how difficult it is to install. Any help is appreciated.
brutefox the worst part is getting the stock intake out which you have to do for any cold air intake. That involves removing the front bumper via several screws and clips. There are a couple videos on how to do it. I recommend having help to avoid scratching the paint, or have a blanket to lay it into like I did. Once that is off, the Mopar intake is easier to put in than the stock is to remove. Hope this helps. It's worth it. Completely changes the sound of your stock exhaust!
Hey there buddy, have you done anything else to your car?? I want to add the sports hood and do this as a future project! Have you noticed any thing different after adding in the intake and ram air with the scoop? Be a fun combo with a new straight pipe exhaust!!
Chris Rodriguez I haven't had time to do anything else to it yet, but my plan is to add a tune and lightweight crank pulley. I noticed a huge difference in sound with the intake. It completely changed the tone and volume of the stock exhaust, and you can hear the engine literally snorting in the air up front! The ram air makes a noticeable difference in acceleration at speeds above 45mph! I also get about 3-4 mpg better which is nice...
sparetimeprojects6 very cool man! I wish dodge could of made the attempt to make these faster... I want to have fun make this thing a mean machine but then people tell me turbo isn't worth it. It looks really nice
Chris Rodriguez I agree they could have really made these cars as fun to drive as they look and they probably would have sold more. I'd love to get the turbo kit for mine but I just can't justify the 3k for my little daily driver.
sparetimeprojects6 I know the one I found is 5k for a turbo setup but it'll be additional for them to install it and then having to get a new transmission and rebuilding the engine so it doesn't blow with the extra boost... =// that's a brand new car
I just drove the car 800 miles to New Orleans and about 500 of it was in steady rain. No issues! the water that gets through the scoop is supposed to drain out the bottom intake hole of the air box, and the Mopar cone filter is water resistant.
During that 800 mile trip, I was averaging about 38 mpg with my cruise set at 70-72 mph for the majority. I think it could have been better without the resistance of the rain for so much of the trip. Before, the car was getting about 35mpg.
As for power, HUGE difference! The cold air intake makes an extremely noticeable difference in response, and it makes the car sound much sportier and throatier! you can really hear the car rev and suck in that air now! The ram air makes a noticeable difference at driving speeds when you downshift to overtake another car!
I've had my dart for a month. Looking to buy the hood and the Mopar cai and the ram ai could you email me those instructions. Would like to study them before I buy it thanks.
Robert B Hey Robert, sorry for the late response, I've been busy and just moved 800 miles away. I would be glad to send those instructions to you, just send a message to sparetimeprojects@gmail.com and I'll send a copy to you when I get the chance.
taylor shaw Hey Taylor, sorry for the late response! I have been busy and just moved 800 miles away. I bought the ram air from modernperformance.com, and got lucky and found a never used cold air intake on eBay. However both can be found on modern performance.
DJ H I wouldn't know since I only have 14k on mine, but I don't see why a turbo motor would be more reliable than an N/A one. The 2.4 is in a lot of other vehicles including bigger Jeep SUVs so it can't be bad.
DJ H I have no idea if the 2.4l in the 2008 is the same engine except different power, but I bought a cheap 2008 pt cruiser new and I currently have over 119,000 miles on it with scheduled maintenance no problems other than the cheap camshaft position sensor had to be replaced twice. Nothing expensive yet.
Thanks for sharing. I've decided to purchase the hood and intake for my dart.
Anthony McWilliams you'll love it! The cold air intake makes a huge difference in sound and feel! You can really hear it suck in the air from the front when you rev it, and it completely changes the exhaust sound!
My mom gave me her Dodge Dart imma custom it so much😁
Thanks for the video. Very helpful and informative. Brought up a few things I failed to consider. Hopefully will do this project by end of year. Good luck on future projects!
I also have installed this unit on my dart I just used self tapping screws instead of drilling 1/4 inch hole much faster and easier
Great job!! Thanks you. It looks great 👍🏽
Hey heyyyy I have one tooo, shes also a '16 2.4 GT Sport but in Go Mango Orange and I love her to death !!!!
Ryan Boykin mines same color but 1.4 turbo,
Dude I do 0-60 in 8-9 seconds on average!!!!!
I’ve been trying to buy one of these for so long
Where can I find this part? Just bought a 2016 Dodge Dart GT and turns out the previous owner already installed the mopar cold air intake lol
Where do I buy the ram air that attaches to the hood scoop???
Solid video! I'd love to be able to find this part, but it's undiscoverable 😂
Thanks to not having springs/hydraulics,if your really tall (6’7” ME) or short, the hood should be pretty easy to remove. I personally haven’t looked yet but I’ve removed others.
Good Video, very informative, thank you!
Where did u find the ram air kit scoop because i cant find it?
Great vid! What other intake would your recommend besides mopar?
GREAT video! I do not have a DART, but was interested. Did you notice any difference in driving? Power? MPG?

Where’d you purchase the ram air hood intake
I wont to buy this but i cant find it anywhere, can you shoot me a link?
Did you install the cold air intake mopar yourself? I have the same exact car but black wondering if I can?
Yes, did it all myself within 2 hours. It's not hard, just be careful removing the bumper to not scratch the paint. Have someone help you get it on and off if you can.

What happens when your driving in rain will it screw up car?
What happens when you wash the car at the car wash?

Hey, where in the hell can I find this?? I would really like the scoop to be functional. The part number at least would be awesome
I can't find the Ram Air Intake anywhere
Where did you buy the Mopar Ram Air Intake kit? I've been looking everywhere for it and no dice.
I got it directly from Mopar's website. If they don't make it anymore then you might be able to find it on eBay. Good luck, it's worth the effort and money!
Make more of these videos!!

Chris Rodriguez exactly. May as well settle for making it LOOK fast while enjoying the good mpg, or get something else.
Can be used on the Cherokee Jeep
I need a link for this
Have it ND love it

I cnt find this part no where WTH is going on .. I WANT ONE !!! I'VE BEEN looking for the past 4 months
I found one by luck! I have the whole kit for the 1.4. It’s been hanging out in my closet the last few months. 🤣
I would like to know do you still have your Dodge Dart email me if you can
Did the hood come with the car or did you buy it then install it?
Philip Harding10 it came with the options on my car, but I'm pretty sure you can buy it from Mopar.
Part number please !?!!!!!!!!
I'm not sure of the part number it was so long ago. But I found it on Mopar's website so try searching for it there.
Cool vid🤙aye how come u have that hood and i dont?😂😂 is it aftermarket?
Aram Guijarro no it came on the GT "Sport" option. I'm sure you could order one from Mopar though.
That system would work better with the turbo darts
Andrew Mills it works just as well on naturally aspirated cars. Giving access to cooler, faster moving air makes a big difference on any engine!
Is that fkn Samsung watch?!?!
Old Moto 360
Nice
sparetimeprojects6 I’m gettin the Samsung s3 is why
Ls4 swap it.
NEEGA I wish!!!
