Agree with you.I have been listening to his music for years and changed my ears with few other sax players and I always find Nelson more attractive to my taste. His phrases are amazing, his orchestration and approach to tunes is amazing. He supposes to be a legend and a household name not only amongst jazz and fusion musicians or fans but people who are not following any music trends.

Herein goes the Hon. Dr. Nelson Rangell with an encore. A True Genius from the inception of his debut cd. "To Begin The Beginning", which LP I bought then merely because I adored the portrait of the young man (Nelson) on the cover with a soprano saxophone in hand... Then, as now, I thought the guy HAS to be as "bad" (in his performances) as his picture appeared. I was and am "mad on" correct. Great postage.
I remember seeing Nelson for the first time in San Diego at Fashion Valley Mall. His technique is FLAWLESS. And to hear him whistle, let me just say, mind-blowing. I think he's one of the grooviest, most technically proficient, versatile saxophonist on the planet and while I don't listen to much contemporary jazz anymore, I still dig Nelson's playing along with a few other cats from that genre. I would love to see him roll up on some of these younger, hell, even older cats at Smalls or the Village Vanguard blow their minds. Not many can straddle the fence so well between classic and contemporary jazz. Nelson can for sure.

I think you played sax for Franco de Vita in Caracas, back in 1991-1992. I've heard a lot of sax players before but you did an outstanding work with Franco de Vita, I still remember that concert and gives me goosebumps. I had that concert taped, too bad the recording got lost.
Totally agree. I have been a fan of Franco de Vita for a long time and precisely one of the things that I appreciate the most in his songs are the saxophone solos and especially those of Nelson Rangell, they are really wonderful and amazing! 💖🎷✨

Depende da numeração e o gosto da paleta casa uma tem sua sonoridade diferente mas o mais importante quanto maior a numeração da paleta menor deve ser a numeração da boquilha e quanto maior a numeração da boquilha menor deve ser a da paleta

+Nicole Nascimento He's using the Theo Wanne Hard Rubber "Durga" model size 9. The Durga used to be made only in the Alto/Tenor models in metal, but Theo Wanne expanded and started making them in hard rubber too.

Nelson, I love your album BLUE, because that is ART. This sound here, I hate this kind of sax. I don´t know who immitates who: There´s thousands of saxophonists around th world playing like Eric Marienthal and Kenny G, this sound causes nausea. All music sound alike. Please, record more music like in the BLUE album or play Jazz themes.
Hmm... you sound warmer and deeper compared to videos from few years ago... you lost some of the sharpness in you sound and got the warmth, is it the change in your embouchure?
