I sit back in my den, every sunday afternoon and take time to listen to this great piece. It makes me smile thinking of all the good things life has brought my way, how lucky I am to be this older Navy Veteran that was brought up by a father with not much of monetary possessions but love and his music he played in our home and brought the love of it to myself and my younger brother as a teenager./ Music is magic to take us back in time and just remember loved ones gone and just feel wonderful... Thank you Nelson Rangell, thank yuu. Vietnam Vet Jerry

I am with Nelson from his first c.d. (l.p.) HAVE attended most OF his cruises. He is skillful on flute and piccolo as well. Great voice! GREAT technique he could have been one of the greatest jazz players in the true sense of the language 'jazz.'

He is a fantastic performer, and an even nicer person, if that's possible to believe, to meet in person. He is a consummate musician and greatly encourages music education.

I know who the bass player reminds me of, the guy from Law and Order, Det. Greene.

Funny how he signaled them in the very beginning with the hand gesture to "pick up the pace" and although they didn't, he acted like they did. Too funny.

I like how this song and performance sounds like Najee.

+Tim Randall You're right. A cross between Najee and the late great George Howard.

George Howard was badass. I myself grew up listening to Najee, GH, the late Art Porter 😉

No, it is not I! Oh, how I wish! [Lol]
However, that's the way a soprano saxophone must be played and sound: adept manipulation and almost naturalness of (intended) tonal quality of the soprano saxophone - just a PINCH of echo and reverb amplification.
    Great soprano artists were/are: -
(ORGANIC REAL JAZZ) - Sidney Bechet, Steve Lacey, John Coltrane, Zoot Sims, Joe Farrell, Jane Ira Bloom, Jane Brunett, Michael Brecker, Bob Berg, Dave Liebman, Sam Most, Courtney Pine, Nelson Rangell, James Carter...
(POP, R'N'B, SOUL) - King Curtis, Jimmy Castor, *Grover Washington, Jr., Ronnie Laws, Gerald Albright, Najee, Kim Waters, Walter Beasley, Marion Meadows, Pamela Williams ...
(FUNK) - Wayne Shorter, Art Porter, George Howard, Cal Bennett, Everett Harp, Dave Koz, Jeff Kashiwa...
(SMOOTH POP) - Fausto Papetti, Ace Cannon, Kenny G....
(Only Soprano Saxophone high light; players double or triple also)
*STRAIGHT AHEAD & JAZZ BALLAD: - (GWJr.) CDTogethering with Kenny Burrell; Summertime.

Yep, the late George Howard I'd listen to and Art Porter with his album "Pocket City" and hit song "Lakeshore Drive"

Funny.. At the intro he's signaling for them to pick up the pace, but they seem to ignore him, so he gestures, "perfect!" LOL Too funny. WE know who's really in charge. Not Nelson.
