First saw Maiden in 1986, but I have to say that there was something really magic about Birmingham this year. One of the best Maiden shows I have ever been to. Awesome night!
I've been saying CSIT is the best Maiden show opener since 86 when I saw it 7 times. Now I've seen it 17 times, and 4 more to go, it's STILL the best show opener EVER
I have seen a recent interview with Nicko and he said there is going to be some amazing Maiden news very soon so I think there is going to be a new live dvd release.
I first saw Maiden at The Boat Club here in Nottingham in Dec (?) 1979,I would have been 18....I was lucky enough to get to all the UK gigs this tour and I can honestly say, some of their best gigs ever....Glad you all had a good time especially visiting our fair Isles, hopefully you can do it again on the next tour and we can all get together.
Great video, went to the Manchester and second night in London. Seen Maiden 23 times since 87 in four different countries and I love em. They just keep getting better and better. This tour was probably the best setlist ever I’ve been to,apart from the 88 Seventh Son tour. Saw you and the gang at both shows,I came over and said hello to you in Manchester.
Death of the Celts half way through was ideal for a quick toilet break and grab another drink. I've seen every tour since World Slavery and I have to say this tour is up there with the best. I did not expect to enjoy Lord of the Lost but actually they were a good live band.
I’m with you guys on “caught …”. I got into maiden in 1986, never saw Somewhere on Tour (I was 10!) I have been waiting my whole life since then to see this opener. I had avoided spoilers since the start of the tour so opening with this blew my mind. The only disappointment for me was in London, before the Time Machine, in Bruce’s little spiel he said the words “Deja Vu” and a bunch of us near the front just lost our shit thinking they were going to play it.
Love you guys, please never stop doing this :D Couldn't go to any Maiden shows myself this year so I'm glad I at least get to watch your content and feel jealous as hell.
Great wrap up well done guys... I did three shows with my grandson they were all amazing but O2 was our best show, I thought the setlist was one of the best for a long time and they guys were on fire... The best part was to see Orlando's face at the show he really love seeing the guys that close as we were a bit far back Doningtion last year and also seeing the updated update SIT show so much better than '86 for me...
I just came back from seeing them in Milan and Barcelona, and want to weigh in. First, CSIT was the BEST ultimate way to start off the show. The Bladerunner intro is so cool and I would hope they make that a regular 1st track of future setlists going forward. About Death of the Celts: certainly not my favorite, but I do really enjoy the guitar solos near the end. Reminds me of the second part of Red and the Black in that marathon headbanging kind of way. Heaven can Wait theatrics was the coolest thing ever. They seem to keep outdoing themselves with the pyro tour after tour. About Fear of the Dark: it’s my best bud’s favorite song for example. He’s a rather newer Maiden fan. It’s so good for the fans. Milano, which is not one of the better known metal countries, really showed up in force. Crazy pit action, and Bruce made it clear how impressed they were. Barcelona was like a South American show. The Spanish have passion and the olay olay olay olay’s were in full force. The big takeaway for me is that this setlist shows that they finally listened to the real fans and played some tracks which they have obviously been less inclined to ever play (Alexander). So that gives me hope that although as the sands of time are running low for these guys, they will honor the fans some more by bringing out more of these more nuanced tracks going forward. As always, I love your content and commentary of the band I love so much, and keep up the great work! Ben from NYC
Guys I really enjoy all your videos.I see in your faces the same excitement that I have when I speak about Maiden, especially on Logan's! Didn't have the chance to catch up at London though, maybe next year. Up the Irons!
Hi guys! Murcia yesterday was awesome! We had 40 c heat all day, we traveled up and it started to rain! Just like in Barcelona last year. The heat didn’t really matter in the stadium and the boys done good! Fantastic show! Bruce was thanking the crowd after Wasted Years and the power went out for all the lights! He left by saying, “ oh! Umm? I guess that’s it then!?”. Kind of an anticlimax, but we weren’t sure what happened, probably a power cut. My mate Tanker has a good video of the gig if you want to check it out. Great gig though! Stay safe and up the Irons! Robin
Maiden England 2013 had a great setlist! Also one of the best tours of all time the band was so tight! But still the best tour for me is still World Piece Tour 1983, UP THE IRONS!
I always love the discussions on this channel! Future Past Tour is such an ambitious venture for them and it really sets a new bar for Maiden even this late in their career. Couldn’t agree more with the Death Of The Celts, it kinda drags, hopefully Parchments swipes in on the North American leg, fingers crossed!
was in Antwerp yesterday, and i can say: Caught somewhere in time was WAY faster than at the first half of the tour. It was AWESOME BTW: Bruce said, we would see them next year again, so there might be another European leg?
Thank you for such an awesome job with the vlogs! I was enjoying them and felt I was there hanging out with you. When you reacted at that first show to the Blade Runner theme it took me back how I felt when I saw them in ‘87 in San Diego. Again thank you and Best Regards! Up The Irons🤘😎🤘
As a person who spent 6.5 years in the UK and relocated to the US the last 1.5 months, all I can say is that the trains in the UK are so much better from every aspect ... 🚂
This tour is a Adrian fest :) As a Adrian Smith fan, this tour really makes you really understand how important he is to the dynamics of maiden. The maiden albums without Adrian versus with Adrian says all you need to know. We all have our fave Maiden albums and retrospectively, Somewhere in Time was always in the shadows of other great 80s releases but It is such a great album. Cyborg Eddie is one of my favorite ones, maybe a future discussion which is your Fave Eddie and Album cover :) Up the Irons and take it easy.
I'm good with new albums. I would much prefer another "legacy" tour, there are so many more songs that need to be brought back. I love the idea that Bruce said in an interview a few years ago of doing an "Epics" tour, where they only play their epic songs. It would probably only be 10 songs long, but imagine Rime, Seventh Son, To Tame a Land, etc. and Empire of the Clouds in a single show. I want it to happen so bad!
Was so good meeting you Steph in London Saturday guys you should have and have to do Dublin if Maiden play again I think it was the Best Night of the Tour
Thanks for your great vlogs!! Nothing wrong with Leeds, you should of gone and got your self some roast beef and yorkshire puds from Toby Carvery!! Some fans can only get to one show, a year so getting excited for Trooper and Fear of the Dark is expected. I saw them in Bergen and as it was an open air concert and light all night we did miss out of the light show experience. The set list was great and death of the Celts was ok. We knew its was 5 songs from Somewhere in Time and 5 songs from Senjutsu from the release posters. It would be good to mix it up, drop Heaven can wait for Deja Vu. We saw Steve playing the night before with British Lion and I would say that was really good to see then really close up. If you get the chance go and support British Lion too. Lets hope they get together with Kevin Shirley soon and get the next record done by the end of the year that would be perfect. Up the Irons!!!
You guys are funny and you're talking about IRON MAIDEN alright! One of my favorite parts in the video's is when your friend is doing Winston Churchill.I've seen IRON MAIDEN four times in the 80's number of the beast, peace of mind, powerslave, and somewhere in time baby! And then book of souls in 2017 with ghost opening for them.
Thank you! Brillant recap. I'm glad you enjoyed the shows and the setlist. And I agree, The Parchment should have been there instead of Death of the Celts.
@@K7ALMIGHTY cheers, took quite a bit of work to make it function as a walking suit. Unfortunately the boots I made were to dangerous for me and others but would’ve been awesome to get an extra foot and half. With regards to the guns, I have to give the supervisor absolute praise, he explained (textbook) the situation and left me no room for argument with regards to firearms in a public space albeit obviously fake but hats off to all hydro staff. There was however some first to the barrier “fans” who were not for letting me to the front for even 1 song which left me a bit dumbfounded but heyho
6 Weeks following Maiden is huge dedication. I only manage 3 shows in 2011 during Final Frontier Tour singapore,Jakarta & bali. Would love to see this setlist but tickets are mostly gone😂
i remember seeing these at the music machine in 79 in my punk days"music machine used give me alot free tickets"think there up there with slaughter and the dogs as one my metal fav's,but those day was to drunk debs xx
Been to 8 shows so far, Ljubljana, Leipzig and all six England. Still not sure if Can I Play is right for the set list but understand why they have included it. Hell on Earth, great to hear live, just think it is in the wrong part of the set, Encores should be songs that are bangers, like the 2 that follow are.
Agreed. Don’t really understand why Can I Play was in there. One of the weakest songs (and most commercial) on Seventh Son. The Clairvoyant would have been much better suited…more of a story feel, like many of the other songs in the set.
This is a great set list it’s a top 3 . But to me the original somewhere in time tour in 86 had maidens best set list . It had phantom of the opera, rime of the ancient mariner along with the songs from somewhere in time .
I Caught Maiden at London first date then seeing them at Wacken, setlist was absolutely perfect and band were incredible. Hell on Earth was absolute incredible live. Dont see how people could say Parchment is better when Hell on Earth has so much drama
Went to the first London show and I loved it. The only complaint I would have is I would prefered LiaLW to Celts and Revelations instead of Prisoner because it's my favourite Maiden track
Will be seeing Maiden for the first time and I'm stoked!! How loud does the concert get? We'll definitley be wearing earplugs but just want to know what to expect. Thanks for the great content!
sea of madness + parchment were the biggest misses for me... my wild card woulda been futureal. also the Jan / H dual lead on hell on earth was so good.
I've talked about it in one of my videos. I don't see this tour going on for a third year, but 2025 is the 50th anniversary of Iron Maiden. Perhaps a new tour on that
If you have seen the band 100 times of course you are gonna be bored of certain tracks but I took my gf to the London show, her favourite songs are Fear of the Dark and Wasted Years. If they had not played those she would have been highly disappointed. You have to expect these tracks because there will be a lot if people at every show for who it is their first and maybe only show.
This is what I wonder: will they do a retrospective tour or a new album tour for the 50th anniversary. I feel like doing a new album tour would be more in keeping with the true spirit of Maiden, which is to keep pushing forward. But they also like to give "what the fans want," which would be another greatest hits/retrospective tour.
Honestly for me (and this maybe a controversial opinion), this has to be possibly the best Maiden Setlist since the 80s! The only alterations that I would make for the 2024 leg is… - Total Eclipse instead of Prisoner (thanks to the single release and the artwork is referenced in the tour art) - The Parchment instead of Death of The Celts (for the exact reasons that you guys stated in this video) - Wasted Years moved up to replace Fear of The Dark (Cos Wasted Years to me, feels more like a during set song and not a closer but that’s just me) - Hallowed Be Thy Name instead of Trooper (Trooper is definitely overplayed, plus without the Jacket or the Flag it’s a bit odd to me personally, Hallowed is Arry’s favourite Maiden song plus it never really gets old) - And either Sanctuary or Run To The Hills as the closer as they could go mental with the pyro and a lot of crowd participation! So just to put it into Setlist perspective: 1. Caught Somewhere in Time 2. Stranger In A Strange Land 3. Writing on The Wall 4. Days of Future Past 5. Time Machine 6. Total Eclipse 7. The Parchment 8. Can I Play With Madness? 9. Heaven Can Wait 10. Alexander The Great 11. Wasted Years 12. Iron Maiden --------------- 13. Hell on Earth 14. Hallowed Be Thy Name 15. Sanctuary
Loving the tour and your updates! Agree with pretty much most of what you've said. Still don't like Hell on Earth in the Encore. Regardless of the pyro, it's just not a song to get the crowd going mad. Should be moved to the main set if they hadn't promised 5 new songs on the tour. Keep the bangers to the encore. Swapping WOTW for HOE may have worked better.
Maiden have a five year plan, always have had, however, there is an end date to everything. The fact they are combining tours, to cram it in, means we're in the final part of the five year plan... I'll give them another 2 years
Your passion for old man Maiden is incredible even the recent albums, it's a pity your 40 yrs late seeing Maiden in their prime Enjoyed your videos Did the same stuff as you but in the 80/90s.
@@drybowser681 Bruce hinted on that. When they had recorded Senjutsu. They had a long time with nothing to do and he said they where thinking about to book a studio! They had so much song ideas already when Senjutsu was done! We all can hope!! UP THE IRONS!
I think the will do a 4 month next year of the Future Past Tour and the tour after this maybe the next history tours no prayer and fear of the day X factor and virtual 11 then hopefully a new album to 2026
I know I have already mentioned this on previous videos you guys have posted. Lisboa, and other places in Portugal organize like 5 major Rock Festivals every summer. No one understands how and why Maiden dont play at least one show in Portugal this year. I dont buy the argument that it has not to do with Maiden but rather with the show promoters because... come on... who on earth would say Maiden is not worth playing anywhere it might be? Who woud risk saying that a Maiden show wouldnt sell out in Portugal?! Not only for us the Portuguese but also for the thousands of brazilians who are invading Portugal since last the 2 or 3 years, after our President invites all sorts of foreigners to enter Europe through Portugal (and then you see what you see in places like Paris, France...). Being deprived from having an Iron Maiden gig in Portugal this summer Is not fair on us, specially when you have someone like Mr Steve Harris saying Portugal is like his 2nd homeland... he loves Portugal... has a house in the southern part of the country blah blah blah... Anyway... You guys are great! Bless you all and thank you for your great videos! Greetings from Lisboa, Portugal
I don’t understand why you didn’t like Celts. It has everything - non regular “bravery” Bruce’s vocal, nice bass, beautiful three solos like from DoD era, the only problem is lack of easy chorus. I give it 8/10 and for me the weakest part of the show is Days which is a good track on the album but a bit disappointing live.
The intro for Hell on Earth could have been cut in half. But this is a general late-career Harris problem. He needs an editor or a producer who can talk back a bit. Bruce effing up the lyrics every night is another thing of course.
Since their reunion in 1999 Maiden have treated us to alternating Best Of / Album Tours. In that span they played 41, I say it again fortyone!!!!!! diffrent songs from their backcatalogue (first eleven Albums) plus another 40 from Brave new World until now. That is more than 80 diffrent songs on 12 diffrent Tours in 24 Years for a Band of that status. That is unparalelled. Go to see the Stones, they play 19 Songs, 12 are edged in Stone and at least 4 of the remaining 7 are from a small pile of other well known hits. In a span from 96 until now the great AC/DC played 4 Tours. Look at their sets. And the thing you do not count in is that Band have setlists that only marginally change over the years. They have a list and they substract one and add one and that is it. So complaining about The Trooper and Fear of the Dark sounds fairly rediculous. 🙂
@@Capnharris Yeah, I was on the Matter of Life and Death Tour and you should have seen the faces after people understood what hit them. The 5th song was still from the new album... Everyone got silent and all the air went out of the crowd. Very nice of you to answear that quickly.
I’m fine with Death of the Celts, but your right it’s a not as good Clansman. I don’t want to see many changes to this setlist though when I finally get to see this show. Yes leave everything the same, Parchment over Celts is fine. I’m worried they may put more from Number of the Beast next year, but no. This setlist rocks.
Fear of the Dark has outstayed its welcome. Average song from a below average album. Agree that the Celts is not the strongest. But Alexander the Great was well worth it both nights in London. Highlight of the show.
The fans at every Maiden show obviously disagree with you about Fear of the Dark. That song and The Trooper always get the biggest crowd pops of the night.
@@nodgerbodger421 Remember at every show there are a lot of fans that are seeing Maiden for the first time, and they want to sing along with those songs. Like it or not, those 2 songs are now Maiden's biggest "hits".
"Caught" is the best opener for Maiden show ever!!!

sea of madness + parchment were the biggest misses for me... my wild card woulda been futureal. also the Jan / H dual lead on hell on earth was so good.

Nothing wrong with Wetherspoons people. 😂
In 2025 will be 50th anniversary of iron maiden possibility of 50th anniversary tour ?
This is what I wonder: will they do a retrospective tour or a new album tour for the 50th anniversary. I feel like doing a new album tour would be more in keeping with the true spirit of Maiden, which is to keep pushing forward. But they also like to give "what the fans want," which would be another greatest hits/retrospective tour.
Oh man that would totally suck! To no get to hear "Bye bye bye" at an NSYNC show! Riot starter right there.
You guys crack me up with the various British accents (coming from England myself). Leave a comment below about this comment below.
Honestly for me (and this maybe a controversial opinion), this has to be possibly the best Maiden Setlist since the 80s!
The only alterations that I would make for the 2024 leg is…
- Total Eclipse instead of Prisoner (thanks to the single release and the artwork is referenced in the tour art)
- The Parchment instead of Death of The Celts (for the exact reasons that you guys stated in this video)
- Wasted Years moved up to replace Fear of The Dark (Cos Wasted Years to me, feels more like a during set song and not a closer but that’s just me)
- Hallowed Be Thy Name instead of Trooper (Trooper is definitely overplayed, plus without the Jacket or the Flag it’s a bit odd to me personally, Hallowed is Arry’s favourite Maiden song plus it never really gets old)
- And either Sanctuary or Run To The Hills as the closer as they could go mental with the pyro and a lot of crowd participation!
So just to put it into Setlist perspective:
1. Caught Somewhere in Time
2. Stranger In A Strange Land
3. Writing on The Wall
4. Days of Future Past
5. Time Machine
6. Total Eclipse
7. The Parchment
8. Can I Play With Madness?
9. Heaven Can Wait
10. Alexander The Great
11. Wasted Years
12. Iron Maiden
---------------
13. Hell on Earth
14. Hallowed Be Thy Name
HOE as the third song in the set is a pretty bold move as well!! 😂
Brasil 2024
there is rumours of a small venue british tour next year , rumour of festival show , rumour of bruce solo album and tour , will have to wait and see
Maiden have a five year plan, always have had, however, there is an end date to everything. The fact they are combining tours, to cram it in, means we're in the final part of the five year plan... I'll give them another 2 years
Your passion for old man Maiden is incredible even the recent albums, it's a pity your 40 yrs late seeing Maiden in their prime
Enjoyed your videos
Did the same stuff as you but in the 80/90s.
The only thing that keeps this from being a perfect setlist for me is that it doesn't include Sea Of Madness.
Don’t know why we can’t have a new Maiden album or at least a new song next year.
I reckon after Powertrip they will record a new album. Then do a North American Future Past tour and maybe release a new album late summer 24.
I think they have recorded a new album already!
What makes you say that?
@@drybowser681 Bruce hinted on that. When they had recorded Senjutsu. They had a long time with nothing to do and he said they where thinking about to book a studio! They had so much song ideas already when Senjutsu was done! We all can hope!! UP THE IRONS!
I think the will do a 4 month next year of the Future Past Tour and the tour after this maybe the next history tours no prayer and fear of the day X factor and virtual 11 then hopefully a new album to 2026
This will be the final tour... There won't be another album, nor a farewell tour
For me it just doesn't feel to go anywhere. There's parts where it feels as if it builds only to lead to no reward.
Different strokes! :)
🚂
What ???? Death of the Celts is the best of the album!!!!
I did say I understand why 😉
Very lucky to have Maiden as a favorite band. They always deliver something fantastic for new and old fans.
@@Capnharris Yeah, I was on the Matter of Life and Death Tour and you should have seen the faces after people understood what hit them. The 5th song was still from the new album... Everyone got silent and all the air went out of the crowd. Very nice of you to answear that quickly.
The laser fight during HCW... they did the same in 86...its not new... Nor is not having fans on stage, they only did that on one tour
Trains are no longer cool 😩 🎤
Enjoy Death Of the Celts at Nottingham they could have played the Parchment on a 1song 2nd Encore if the pick Death Of The Celts on the US Tour
*Clansman
@@juliankitts544 Yep fixing that.!
@@davel7791 yep, I know they do. They’re entitled to their opinions, even if they’re wrong.
@@nodgerbodger421 Remember at every show there are a lot of fans that are seeing Maiden for the first time, and they want to sing along with those songs. Like it or not, those 2 songs are now Maiden's biggest "hits".
@@davel7791 yep, no probs, I’m only mucking about. They could play angel and the gambler and I’d still be there!
Death Of The Celts is amazing on the album , don’t care for it live , as far as the Parchment I don’t like it .
