I'm white, lifelong Northern New Hampshire and never left. I've only been listening to Benny, Conway, Boldy, Rome, 38 Spesh and sometimes Westside since about 2016. Just happened upon Conwway first then found Benny. When i first heard Rubber Bands and Weight i knew i was hooked. My town has about 3k people in it and i PROMISE you i'm the only one listening to Griselda. People are always asking me who is that?! When the 2000s hit i lost hope for hip hop. That new sound wasn't it for me. I wanted my Wu Tang and my Tupac back. Griselda gave me hope and new life in hip hop.
90s and early 2000s hip hop was elite motion pictures crammed into a 3-5min track. You could see and feel the music. Griselda keeping that foggy gritty rainy Gotham city vibe Alive. ✊🏽 ✌🏽
Real talk! I'm white (and Arabic) from Humboldt County and grew up with the classics from the late '80s to the very early '00s... just like you, the 2000s had _very_ little I could embrace wholeheartedly within HipHop and I branched out to other types of music.
Things slowly started getting better around a decade ago with Black Hippy and Pro Era, but it was Griselda that really solidified that HipHop was truly back, for me. Ever since I heard _Supreme Blientele_ (then _Tana Talk 3_ and _Grimiest Of All Time)_ in 2018, I've been addicted! The return of real HipHop may be the greatest thing to happen culturally the last several years...
