My RM380 was awesome. I used it for CC qualifying. Then the steel pins of the trigger mechanism wallowed out the soft aluminum of the frame, giving the trigger a fatal amount of play and mush.
That doesn't sound awesome at all.
Did you contact Remington? Did you send it in to have them work on it? Or are you just unhappy and plan on staying unhappy?
I snatched up VZ grips for my RM380, they cleared those out a good while back. The pistol still sits in the safe, replaced a long time ago by a G43.
But I just can't see myself selling it.
I don't know that I would want a 9mm in that size (snappiness), and judging by the market, neither does anyone else. With modern defense round designs, .380 is not as anemic as it once was. The Underwood Xtreme Defender does as much damage in gel as many 9mm hollow points (even more than a few as well), as seen here on TH-cam. That's why it is the only ammo I carry in my RM380.
I usually only carry it with a few specific outfits because of not being able to conceal my 9mm (I'm a shorter guy), or when I will be going shirtless. I have this in my pocket with a pocket holster, and that's why I appreciate the long trigger pull. That is peace of mind with the gun in my pocket and one in the chamber.
No worries with the sights. I can pull this thing out and point it and hit the target without aiming. Of course that is up to a certain distance of about 20 - 25 feet. I've been practicing with this gun for 6 years now. I haven't tried any other defense ammo through it, but I've put about 6 different brands of FMJ through it and it has never had a failure of any kind in close to 2,000 rounds.
I tried a number of other .380s before getting this one. I did not like the snappiness of them, and the RM380 seems to be the least snappiest of all I tried. It might be because the gun is all metal, and I only use mags with the pinky extension. It's pointless without it. Mine also has the Remington Rosewood grips on it and they add just a touch more to the width, and it looks nice. Lastly, the mag release is not convenient for my thumb, and I found it easier to drop the mag by hitting the release on the other side with my middle finger. For my dexterity, this feels natural and easy.
I use to have a rm380 and you actually bead blasted it for me yankee idk if you remember doing that or not. Either way it was always reliable for me.
I ain't senile. I remember.
@@TheYankeeMarshalhaha I appreciate it
Where[and when] else are you gonna find an all metal 380 for $150 after rebates. It's got a clssic look, it's easily concealed, it's reliable.
I used to work for a newer big box gun store, we bought thousands of these from distributors trying to clearance them out (circa 2018) and we were just giving these things away, literally, buy an AR get a REM380 for free, and to be honest they weren't horrible, most folks were cool with them
I do not believe that Remington could ever put out a crappy pistol. They've got such a stellar track record with all of their products.
Nice sarcasm 😆
😂😂😂😂 my ass
Just get a chamber reamer and convert the barrel to accept 9mm. Get a stiffer recoil spring, and remove the spacer from the back of the mag. Now it's a 9mm.
Too small for a 9mm, just right size for a .380. No wonder Rohrbaugh couldn't sell them (plus their price over $1000). Remington got it right, but they aren't a pistol company. Easy slide to rack. Addition of sights is another reason RM380 was superior value.
Rohrbaugh had to sell them for that much because they were just two brothers making guns one at a time. If Remington, (or anybody else for that matter), had simply copied the gun and made them with mass production techniques, they could have sold them for half what Rohrbaugh did.
A friend of mine had one. When he first brought it home, we took it out with 100 rounds and took turns firing it as fast as we could load the two magazines with NO malfunctions.
Didn't the 9mm Rohrbaugh's say in the manual to replace the recoil springs every 10 rounds or something ridiculous?
Isn't this the same video from about 8 years ago?
I shot one at my work i love the pistol. But im a 380 nerd anyways. Grew up on revolvers so the double action trigger is fine with me. Hey Yankee if i buy one how much would you charge to blast the finish off.
I did mine. Went to harbor freight bought the cheap blaster took about 20 min. Then returned it to harbor freight...lol
Hey, at least it’s a Remington that works 😅
Probably not the only one to say this but .380 is 9mm. In fact that's what is called everywhere else in the world, 9mm short. It's just like S&W .40 vs 10mm or .38 special vs .357 magnum. Just nerding out😂
It is 9mm in diameter, but it is not 9mm Nato ammo.
@TheYankeeMarshal hence "9mm short". 9mm parabellum/NATO is 9x19 mm, .380 is 9x17mm. But of course you know that, just writing it for the thread when others that don't. 🤟
A lot of bellyaching but never one ran it through its paces in how it shoots.
Rohrbaugh was also $1000
Rohrbaugh made it in 380 also
Why, in 2024, would you purchase _anything_ with the Remington name attached?
My dad bought an R51 some years back. Took me a day working on it to make it run. Horrible.
Such a bummer that pistol was a disaster, if reviews were great, I'd bought one. I loved the style, the sleekness, the metal frame.
@@chad_8313 when it ran it was pretty cool. Weird internals.
Why are you dicking around with the .380 ACP? Stick with a man's cartridge...the .44 Magnum and a man's gun the Model 29-2!
Looks like a sccy
