Highest compliments and regards to you, your success and the impact you're having in this world. I was taught as a kid to always clean up the beach when you visit. After years of doing this, I reflected that the plastic bags and gloves I used were also bound to contribute to single use plastic consumption. I go fishing over 150 times a year, so that's 150 bags+gloves. So this year, I stopped with gloves and re-used plastic bags, boxes, paper bags, and when I had nothing else I designated a reusable plastic bag so my car wasn't getting filthy. I'm not grandstanding here or trying to put you down. I can see that you care, and starting conversations like this is how we create change. Chris learned to fix boats and moved to cars. I learned on cars and now use it to work on boats If your in to diving and your in Florida you could join in with one of our clean up dives for ginnie springs. Usually dallymd and jiggin with Jordan will be out there treasure hunting as well. Always a good day on the water
Great message Chris, glad to see you doing this. I live close to the beach and shore fish mostly, and when I do I clear up the area around. Sadly a lot of discarded fishing gear left also.
So excited for this channel! I don't even fish but I'm bout to go get some gear (after I make a donation of course). Thank you for supporting this cause!
The thing is, the plastic he's collecting goes in plastic bags, that get thrown in the garbage which ends back up in the ocean. The root of the issue it how the trash ends up in the ocean. After that is solved, the clean-up will make more of an impact. Amazing video nonetheless, keep up the good work, Chris!
It's the corporations that are in charge that we need to hold accountable. Trash collection is two or three phases. The person who disposes the trash in the respective place, the entity that then picks up the collected garbage and transports it to it's proper place, and the place that processes the garbage. It's always the last person handling it that screws it up and creates this problem.
Finally! Couldn't have thought of a better way to introduce the new channel. Can't believe how much trash we overlook everytime we get out on the water. Can't wait for more videos!
Crazy right? I never really realized until I HS to focus on it for this video. Going to the beach I was nervous I wouldn’t find enough trash… I was blown away with how bad it actually is.
Plastic bothers me in general. I hate finding it floating around. But what really grinds my gears is mylar balloons. I absolutely despise finding those things in the water and I absolutely despise the people that buy them. Mylar balloons are completely unnecessary and something human beings can live without. A bunch of people let them go by accident and some people are stupid enough to release them on purpose. They're an environmental hazard. The government really needs to outlaw them and some scientist really needs to find a mylar balloon alternative that dissolves in water and doesn't release any harmful chemicals. Not only would you not have to pick them up out of the water if they get caught in a tree or in a power line you don't have to climb up to get it or call your power company. It would just dissolve the next time it rains.
Excited for your new channel Chris. Where does the collected plastics go and how can we be assured what’s collected is not re-dumped back into the ocean?
Great work Chris, I enjoy watching your car videos and now you being a fisherman with the intention to save the planet is great 👍. Keep up the effort and I look forward to seeing more videos.
