    Just came across your channel whilst out searching for some general information on the Benelli '2C' genre. Informative & dry wit appreciated! Will add your channel now to my favourites, thank you.

    Mines 1974 and came without indicators as well. Mines 6 volt, came with Suzuki aluminium switchgear which polishes up fine, handles brilliantly. Took off the rear spring shrouds, had the silentium silencers rechromed, replaced most of the fasteners with stainless, new rear wheel rim from central wheel in Birmingham. Starts first or second kick as long as the fuel taps been open for a few minutes. Had it since 1975 and I’m not a fan of two strokes - well this one anyway as it’s too frantic….maybe I’m too old now to appreciate it!

      I do enjoy riding two strokes as I think they are fun due to the sharp power band, it sounds like yours is a gem of a bike with all the work you have done. As for being frantic maybe we need a bit of that even in our dotage

    Lovely thing, I remember a mate of my brother's had one back in the '70s. It was metallic green I seem to recall. Well done saving it!

    Owned one in the eighties. Loved it ( and hated it, when it broke down again !! )

      Since sorting the gearbox issue I had thanks to someone else building it incorrectly I have had no problems yet. Like you I am loving it and if it does break down I will hate it.

    I really enjoyed this review of a great little bike. Just about to buy one if the deal goes through. It was my dream bike when I was a kid.

    I had one, same as yours. Great chaty video. Mine used to backfire and the baffle would fire out the back at high speed.

      @oldguyinshed1703  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never heard it backfire although it does other odd things, get another and smile lots.

    I have a 74 250 Electronica that I traded a rusty 75 Guzzi T-3FB for. My friend had gone through the motor, rings and seals. The main problem it did not come with a front wheel which was the 4lS drum, which I have discover is rare and expensive when you find one. So this year I bought a disc front end from Italy (i'm in the US) thinking I would just bolt it on but it turns out the headset's are not the same, so I fitted the disc brakes forks to the drum front end and I'll have to make an axle,some spacers and figure out how to center the rotor to the caliper. Oh and the wiring in the head light is a mess. It will start on starter fluid but will not run on gas, carbs are clean.Maybe I should have kept the Guzzi.

      They are tricky to buy for that is true and starting issues are sometimes down to air leaks in the crankcases. Make sure the carbs are snug and not drawing in air, the same with the manifold gaskets, and cylinder base gaskets if you are really unlucky the center crank seal maybe leaking. The upside is when right they are a delight to ride.

    It was a metallic green one with duplex front drum brake. Replaced the switches for Suzuki ones, problems solved. Rode it for two years and traded it for a Benelli 650 twin. Wrong choice, even worse in reliability. After that only Beemers.

      A shame to hear the 650 was unreliable I quite liked the look of them. I do like riding this little stroker though, Thanks for watching.

    Forgot to add, it’s got the twin leading shoe Grimecca brakes.

    • @oldguyinshed1703
      @oldguyinshed1703  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That front brake is probably worth half the value of the bike as they are coveted by the classic racing fraternity.

    Hi I have recently started finishing my dad's benelli 250 2c after he passed last year and wondered if you could help on a wiring issue I have? From what I can has been done already the wiring is all over the place and he didn't write anything down to show what he'd already done and what needed doing, now the ignition key barrel that Is on it now is off an aprilia but the only wires on it are (int terminal) (-) from battery, 2 earth points at (50 and 15-54 terminals) and a (30 terminal) pink wire straight to the coils.
    Now am I right in thinking that the key is actually the kill switch and that the lights and horn run on a seperate circuit straight off the battery up to the 15amp fuse in the headlight bowl? Thanks for the video and hope you can help with my problem

      Hi Gary, before I can help I need to know if it has the original generator/ignition system, from what you have said it may have been swapped out for a Powerdyno unit, one indicator would be its battery is it 6 or 12 volt. the original set up was 6 volt lighting and 12 volt ignition which was sorted out with a weird control box. Now depending on how far your Dad had got it may be difficult to say, you could try taking off the flywheel cover and see if there is anything on the flywheel. The Powerdyno does not use that name as it is made by a Czech company called Vape. I can't remember what is on the original. You can contact me on oldguyinshed@gmail.com

    Hi great video especially because I have just bought a Moto guzzi 250 TS and I was just wondering what mix of fuel you use and what gearbox oil it takes and how much?
    Thanks very much

    • @oldguyinshed1703
      @oldguyinshed1703  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I run 20:1 as much for carburation as lubrication, I know there is a lot of discussion on the net about new oil being so good. The book ratio is as I said. There is a level screw on the right side of the engine, not sure of the exact amount. As to type they happy on just about anything light and slippery 20/50 engine oil is fine or modern light gear oil. A lot will depend on the condition of the clutch and springs.

      @@oldguyinshed1703 thanks ever so much for your reply I went through the bike before starting it and last nite I had it running first time in 24 years and it sounds great could I ask what tyres are you running on yours?
      Thanks Neil

      @@neilsmith9284 the engine in 250ts is different, it's better because it has a special treatment (nigusil) while benelli was cheaper and entry level with cilynders in simple cast iron. You shoud use a less rich mix in guzzi.
