    You are so amazing. My ALIEN doll stands on my desk next to me and I glance at it every day and say a little prayer your way for your incredible restoration of it. You are awesome.

      Thank you. Love restoring these older figures because they mean so much. As much as you will see people fall over themselves for the latest Hot Toys or InArt you still can’t beat the sheer charm and nostalgia these older pieces have. Thank you you again! - Jase

    Love the video! I just scored a Alien with the arms unfortunately glued in place. I was wondering what I could use to get the old dry glue off the arms before I buy a restring kit and repair it? Thank you!

    • @MarshallMadeCollectibles
      @MarshallMadeCollectibles  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brad Bruner Brad you can remove the old glue. Chances are they used Super Glue. I’d try washing the Figure in hot water and letting it soak. This will not only clean up any loose dirt it will also help loosen 10-15 year old super glue. You can start to try wiggle the arm in the socket to eventually free it. Hope that helps.

      Jim - Thanks for liking the channel! As for domes - I 100% can recommend Shogun Plastics. They make domes and dorsal spines as well as teeth and inner jaw reproduction parts. Derik’s work over there is truly flawless and worth every penny. In my personal collection I have one complete Alien that is 100% Kenner and flawless in a repro Box and then I have one loose and out for display and he’s sporting a Shogun Dome and he looks absolutely stunning. You can find them on FB which has a link to their shop. Let em’ know MMC sent you. 😉

      @@jimkuna8687 sometimes he also sells on eBay and occasionally you can find a deal or a sale on his items. As to the price - they are pricey but They are handmade and made one at a time. Dirk is also one of the few people I know that cast in a flexible smoke tint colored plastic…which actually fit better then the original dome which is too big for the Alien head.

    I would love to see and understand the Mouth mechanism specially how it looks and how it works. Is there a chance you can make a video on that? It would be very useful and informative. Great video by the way, keep 'em coming.

    • @MarshallMadeCollectibles
      @MarshallMadeCollectibles  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Would love to as well - if I get one in the shop in really bad condition then I would crack it open. The heads are sealed/glued so getting to the trigger mech is a bit on the difficult side. There are two springs on each side of the inner jaw that are controlled by the trigger...so if you have a figure that the inner teeth pull to the left or right there is a good change you either are missing a spring or you have a spring that is detached or stretched out.

      Marshall Made Collectibles I see...Well one can only hope you get so lucky, I can't wait for your next video. I had an original bought for me when I was 3 yrs old, I was previledge enough to see the Alien toy at the stores on the shelves in NY. My mother hadn't seen the film at the time and she just bought for me with big Godzilla figure and an Inflatable cage breaking monster, and a Hulk figure that did the same. I used to play with all of them since I too never saw Alien at that time. But for some reason when I was 7, I started to become afraid of the Alien toy and I gave it away. And a year later I saw the film on TV and got traumatized. I was able to deal with the fear of it 9 yrs later. Now I am a fan and regret so much not having the figure. I have the McFarlane's and the Neca figures, but I really want to get this one again. I have now what I call an obsession, compulsion, repulsion towards the Alien franchise. I love it yet I still sometimes get nightmares LOL.

      @@EternalRoman Ha! I had a similar situation when I got my ALIEN figure for Christmas in 1979. This toy was #1 on my wish list that year even though I was only 6 and too young to see the film. Christmas day I carried it with me everywhere, but when bedtime came I was very much fearful of this toy. My Mom got mad and took it back to JC Penney's the next day. I did manage to reacquire one near mint in box 10 years later for $250. I had to save most of the year to get it.

The funny thing was I loved it especially when bedtime came I love glow in the dark stuff still do to this day. Anyway I was fascinated with the toy , but my mom was afraid of it. Lol. I ended up reading it to a friend for some Mego Star Trek figures.

    Do you use Teflon tape or o-rings to tighten leg joints? Just installed one of these arm kits!

    • @MarshallMadeCollectibles
      @MarshallMadeCollectibles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do use Teflon tape (plumbers tread tape) to add friction to the joint. It’s a great fix for a lot of older figures with split joints.

    Do you have any good paint suggestions for restoring the skull. I can't seem to find a good glow in the dark option that doesn't have some issues with the quality of the paint.

    • @MarshallMadeCollectibles
      @MarshallMadeCollectibles  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Apple Barrel yellowish Glow in the Dark is the best kinda match but I only apply two thin coats applied with a make-up sponge (no paint lines) it won’t be perfect but it’s something.

    • @kellyshillyer
      @kellyshillyer 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @MarshallMadeCollectibles The skull has some significant paint wear. Should I use a base coat before applying the glow in the dark paint with a sponge. Thank you for responding btw. It's my childhood Alien and I don't want to make a mistake. Lol.

    What do you use to polish your plastic?

    • @MarshallMadeCollectibles
      @MarshallMadeCollectibles  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I love Novus polish...but it takes time and patience to polish clear plastic. If not it will turn out either with swirls or hazy. I will literally take a solid hour or two to polish a Alien dome to bring it back to life.

    • @MarshallMadeCollectibles
      @MarshallMadeCollectibles  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there sorry for the delay - I work as a nurse as my day to day and have been slammed the last couple of weeks. As to the original plastic washers if you can grab them with a pair of forceps or needle nose pliers then you can wiggle them out. If not I’ve let them stay in the arms. They aren’t going to get in the way and won’t effect the functionality of the arms. Sincerely, Jase

    do you have a video where you do this without disassembling the back?

    • @MarshallMadeCollectibles
      @MarshallMadeCollectibles  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not currently. I’ll have to do one. It’s a bit harder without taking the figure apart. All you have to do is secure on arm with the kit and use a pull through tool an secure it as it comes out the other arm socket. Then anchor the metal stop of the string kit (it will be extremely tight at this moment) into the other shoulder ball of the arm then release whatever you used to secure the string kit through the arm socket. It is a lot more difficult then just separating the halves though.
