A lot of good points, but I feel like with so many people registering for the Daytona 500 that don’t usually race NASCAR needs to know when you’re in a pack using your break is more important than being full throttle all the time

Yeah something I didn't touch on because it's more racecraft than strategy. I was super surprised to learn some of the best guys are actually always full throttle and when they need to slow up for something they use brake while still maintaining full throttle (unless of course you have to actually stop). This is so that your rpm's are kept higher and you accelerate faster after getting off the brake.

I’ve had problems with water temp when I’ve done this

These Tips works well. Used them to win a SS Daytona league championship and A Daytona 500 win 2 years ago, and 2nd last year.
    A couple other tips:
If you are 2nd car in line, know when to give up your lane and when to charge to keep your lane single file to avoid aggressive drivers getting to the front. Working the Oil Temp is key to being a good 2nd car in a lane.

Great video, this is my first year trying the 500, so I really needed this!

Another thing with “it better to be in the front”. These cars are basically tanks, the only way to not be on the lead lap after a crash is breaking a toe link (90% of the time). The idea of sitting in the back to wait for the big one doesn’t really work for next gens. There is a crash, and fix the little damage they get and the car is basically brand new. The people who just crashed try to go back to the front, so you end up in the same spot you were in before the crash.

Awesome video man, great tips. I skipped last years 500 but this video gave me some confidence to go for it this year. I've screwed myself not knowing when to take tires and when to not, so thanks for the tip about alternating sides. Gonna be practicing pit entry for sure.

As always, thanks for the tips and guides! I'll be racing the 500 this weekend, and I hope I can apply what you said. Ever since your superspeedway tips video, I think it's best to try to stay out front and avoid the mayhem all together. Since then, I've avoided more wrecks.

Thanks for the tips. They were actually pretty helpful. I actually was running in the top 5 until green flag pitstops, where i did everything perfectly except i forgot to actually hit the brakes for a second...

I’ve never raced anything over 1.5 hours, but last night I decided to run the 500 fixed. Was able to take home a 0x win, partly due to these tips. Big thanks my dude!

Before watching the video, I wanted to compete in the Daytona 500. Now I don't ))

It’s fun to do it to say that you did it. As a race though it’s not the most engaging

@@DJYeeJay I think you're right. I can only assume that the top split might not be all bad, but my bottom one will be wreakfest

Won the 500 a couple years ago by saving fuel after the last stop. The last pit stop was almost exactly a full fuel run to the end and I was obsessively watch the fuel estimation go down. But I just chilled in the top 10 and kept off the throttle as much as I possibly could without losing pace. Eventually everyone else on the lead lap had to go into pits to put a few extra gallons in but I got lucky in that we got mixed up in some lapped traffic in the process, allowing me to continue my fuel saving. Literally ran out of fuel going by pit exit after taking the checkered flag.

Not even sure. It was a couple years ago. It would have been a lower one tho. I think my irating at the time would have been around 1500

Use a 4-dimensional fuel tank so you don't have to pit. I'm sure NASCAR won't mind.

Not the best way but I practice with AI so I understand what the car wants to do in dirty air. Also helps with trying to hold a line because your the only one who causes wrecks

2 laps down of course but we only had 4 yellows.. and I ended with a 6x shoulda only been a 2x but had a bogus phantom 4x early

The easiest spot in the field is the 3rd or 4th car in line. nobody expects anything from you, except staying relatively close to their back bumper. And you're ahead of nearly all the wrecks.

    NUMBER 1 TIP.
DO NOT RACE WITH NOOBS. Most people cannot drive. This becomes blindingly obvious at these types of tracks.

I wouldn't trust my immediate family in this race, never mind some "one race randos" I met 30 minutes before in the lobby haha

It’s kinda like Surivor alliances. Best case scenario everyone’s on the same page. Worst case they betray you and you’re back to square one. But you’re on square one anyways if you don’t try haha
