I've been getting a lot of similar questions so I have created a Q/A. Just keep scrolling down and you may find some answers about watercolor PAPERS, pigments, taping down etc 😃👇🏼

The white pigment I use is DESIGNER'S PERMANENT WHITE GOUACHE, which is an opaque version of watercolor. I use it instead of my regular watercolor whites which are too transparent for my style of painting.

Most common questions I get and here are some answers:
▶︎What's the difference between cold pressed and hot pressed?
Cold pressed is on the rougher side and hot pressed is the smoothest. For example with hot pressed the paint won't sink in as much and will dry faster, vs cold pressed is the most traditional watercolor paper for artists, the paint will sit for a while until it settles and you can do dry brushing. It also dries longer because of all that. They are both fun, I just have been painting mostly on hot pressed because of my style. Hot pressed is good when you can paint faster and when you use a lot of paint. To determine which paper is best for you I think it's a good idea to try out all three kinds, hot pressed, cold pressed and the third kind - rough watercolor paper, this one is super bumpy!
▶︎How long does it take me to finish a painting?
Anytime between 40min - 3hrs. It all depends on what I am painting.
▶︎Do I use watercolor in pan or out of tube?
I mostly use watercolors out of tubes.
I think it helps me in painting with layers. I feel like it's so much easier to create that vibrancy when I can use more paint.
▶︎What are the basic colors, brushes papers I recommend for a beginner?

▶︎What is art masking fluid?
It's a fluid (also known as liquid frisket ) that preserves white areas, white areas of the paper where you want to stay white. It's made of some sort of latex. Once you place it on your watercolor paper, on the area you want to stay white, wait until it completely dries before starting to paint. At the end, once your paper is dry, you can peel it off easily with your fingers or using an eraser.

Maria, thank you so much for the great work here. My wife and I camp a quite a few lakes and rivers and I've always struggled with the murky green water color. You use of blues adds beauty without making it odd looking. Nice work.
Hi Daniel, thank you so much! Water can be difficult in watercolors but once you get the feel of it you will be able to paint the murky green water as well. It's like the first layer is very light and you leave areas white.. let it dry.. then ad second layer, more paint, then wait until it dries, then with third layer it's like you are filling in the cracks with light layer again :)

J'aime beaucoup ce que vous faites, je ne parle pas l'anglais et j'ai été agréablement surprise que vous me répondriez en français. J'essais de peindre a l'aquarelle mais ça ressemble plus a de la gouache. J'ai 81 ans et je viens de me remettre a peindre mais j'ai de la misère. Il y a quelques années je me suis fait un site web La Petite Place des Arts à chezwill.net , j'y ai une place des artistes si ça vous tente d'aller y jeter un coup d'œil. Je passe énormément de temps a regarder les tutoriels et a en faire l'essais mais je suis souvent déçue mais je continue. Bonne continuation
Salut, je ne parle pas vraiment français, juste minuscule mais pas assez pour répondre à tous les commentaires alors j'utilise un traducteur google. Je peins à l'aquarelle, c'est une aquarelle. J'utilise les aquarelles transparentes de Holbein dans des tubes. La seule gouache que j'utilise est la gouache blanche - blanche qui est une aquarelle opaque. Mais tout le reste est des aquarelles transparentes. Merci pour le partage.
