The dual pin design of the VTX 1800 provides better balance of the engines dynamic forces but it doesn't provide that "nostalgic sound" of the classic american engine. The single pin design is about 100 years old, literally. It is inherently weak due to stress concentrations in the outer connecting rod, but not so much that companies like HD will go away from it and take a huge hit in marketing and sales. The majority of the industry, however, has migrated to newer designs.
THANKS, I WAS LOOKING TO CHANGE MY EXHAUST ON MY VTX 1800C BUT NOW I' AM GOING TO HAVE IT MOD.. IF YOU CAN GIVE HOM INFO ON HOW YOU ADDED THE PIPE ON ...
+Hector Girau i had the mod done at www.vtxexhaust.com. a friend of mine made the extension to the baffle. i basically took the idea for the extension from the vance and hines quiet baffle.
+N-JAXS Are u happy with how it sounds ?. Do u use it with the baffle or with out, i called Bill from vtxexhaust.com and i" am planing to have mine mod. what i want to know is if u recommend the baffle?
+Hector Girau The sound wasn't bad but I ended up going back to the stock exhaust. I would recommend the baffle though, without the baffle I thought I lost some low end power because of very little back pressure. The baffle seemed to solve that though.
+N-JAXS Buddy its Hector again, sorry to bother u so much but i'am really giving it a lot of thought ..i like my bike the way it sounds but i would like it to sound a little bit louder...would u consider buying a cobra or vance and Hines exhaust and keeping the original. by the way what it cost u to buy the stock exhaust again or u think there just to loud ? and thats why u went back to stock..
+Hector Girau I actually had the Vance and Hines longshots on the bike when I bought it. They sounded ok when the bike was idling or when you would hammer on the throttle but I wasn't crazy about the tone when I was riding around at lower speeds. As far as going back to the stock exhaust, Bill at vtx exhaust switched the pipe that he had modified for me back to the stock pipe at no cost. Not sure if not charging to switch back is always his policy but for whatever reason he didn't charge me to switch it back. I actually would like to have a little bit louder than stock sound but for me personally I think the Honda VTX bikes have the best quality of sound with the stock exhaust. Any other questions please feel free to ask it's no bother at all!
Here’s the link for the guys that modified the exhaust. www.vtxexhaust.com Best I can remember I bought the bags at a local bike shop in Minnesota. I sold the bike a few years ago and I can’t remember what brand those bags were.
@Blowjob Mufferaw say the guy with a garage queen. If you actually ride more than twice a week it is a must unless you like eating bugs, rocks, and oil.
DR. Smith i it did ruin the sound. I never was happy with it. I ended up putting stock exhaust back on the bike. For some reason the Honda motorcycles do not sound that good with aftermarket exhaust or exhaust modifications, my opinion anyway. Thanks for watching!
@@bbusigful 1800's have a dual crank pin and the VTX 1300's have a single crank pin like a Harley etc.. The 1800's dual crank pin is a better design but pistons fire at even 180 degrees intervals (sewing machine sound). Single crank pins fire like this: A piston fires first: The next piston fires at 315 degrees. There is a 405-degree gap. A piston fires. The next piston fires at 315 degrees. There is a 405-degree gap. And the cycle continues. Thus the potato - potato sound similar to a Harley. It is very hard to get the 1800 sound like a Harley. For the 1800's, the 2 into 1 probably will give you the deepest sound and the Freedom Performance 2 in 1 is the best off the shelf pipe for the F model without losing low end torque which is a problem with many VTX 1800 exhaust modifications. Other mods to the C model's 2 in 1 are decent as are the Jardine 2 into 1s (don't know if they are still made.). You still may lose low end torque. Again, it is the nature of the dual crank pin of the 1800 that will make it difficult to get a Harley like sound. Thus the reason lots of folks go back to the quieter stock exhausts to regain the low end torque and live with quiet pipes..
Sounds great! Same mod here only I went further and mounted it on my Retro (attached video) and since moved to a Neo. th-cam.com/video/r8KOQdMLM-0/w-d-xo.html

I wish the 1800 sounded as good as the 1300. The 1300 with good exhaust sounds awesome.
因みに今は、CMX1100T(日本国内ではRebel1100Tです)に乗ってます。素敵な動画ありがとうございます。事故には気をつけて楽しみたいですね。ありがとう。
Very good sound. I want to try the same mod. How you removed the baffle ?
Can u link me to pipes? Those are nice.

What a beauty that bike is!
mine is an 02 and it has the Vance n Hines pipes on it. This is what the stock pipe looked like? It ugly
Ugly and extremely heavy
Sounds good! Nice Bike!
This motorcycle is better than overpriced harley? 😮
From an engineering standpoint? In every conceivable way. Image? Debatable.
Absolutely
I always get the nods of approval, the "thats badass man" comments. She rides well and you wont go broke paying for her. Faithful steel horse
I'll take it!
Can't hear u when your talking
Nice sounds Sounds like a Chevy
Except this one runs lol.
I was thinking it sounded like one, also. First thought.
I like the look but hate the sound.
nice bike except for that ugly wind screen
B.J. Mufferaw
Yes...it is ugly but it works lol
@Blowjob Mufferaw say the guy with a garage queen. If you actually ride more than twice a week it is a must unless you like eating bugs, rocks, and oil.
daaamn you ruined it...sounds like a poor running pushmower now...

It's actually only the vtx 1800 that sounds crap. Don't know what it is it just don't sound good with an open pipe.

Sounds not so good, bit like a tractor, was better before
He can switch from the other sound to this one by just putting the baffle back in.
Sounds great! Same mod here only I went further and mounted it on my Retro (attached video) and since moved to a Neo. th-cam.com/video/r8KOQdMLM-0/w-d-xo.html
A tip : watch series at flixzone. Been using them for watching lots of of movies lately.
The way the engine fires sounds horrible. 👎🏼
They all sound horrible😂😂😂
Never liked the sound the VTX does. Doesent matter what you do with it. Sorry.
sometimes its not about sound.
So you have to purchase overpriced Harley Davidson for sound..... Nothing else

sounds like crap you shouldve left it alone....you removed ALL of the bass ....lol
I ended up having the guys put the stock baffles back in cause it did sound bad, lol. I’ve since sold the bike.
