When a company invests some money in other companies shares then that is a part of investing activity , then obviously dividend received from such investment will also be a part of investing only , its same as interest received on investment.
You got confused because when we receive dividend we add it in investing activity and deduct it in operating activities as it is a non operating income ,
so if you remember when ever we used to receive interest from investment , it also had the same treatment
dividend recd is an investing activity
the reason we subtract it in operating is because it is a nonoperating profit not received from the business’s main operation
and it is investing because when a company invests money in shares that is the gain it gets on it, like how you would get rent from a building you own
