this video just popped up on my feed. i am Bangladeshi and after 8 days of internet blockade we are getting very slow internet. thank you for covering us. it has been a chaos and so heartbreaking here. almost 200+ people (mostly weaponless students by police's official weapon) died officially but it is probably more.
Hi @huhulalammm, thank you for your comment. Could you give us a little more insight into the conditions that you have been living under in the last week. Please refrain from giving specifics about your location (for your own safety), but any details you could provide us would be great for added context in the next video
@@mozillafirefay you have honestly covered most of the things but i think the phrase "job quota" kind of undermines the situation. so i am going to describe the whole situation. the comment is going to be long. 1. the situation now: the streets are full of army troops and police. there aren't any violence escalating as of now. because, well, the regular students really don't have weapons to fight the army and the purpose of the movement has been already achieved (more or less). 2. how it happened: the job quota for government job was like this (33%: for the offspring and grand children of freedom fighters who fought in 1971 liberation war , 10%- female quota, and there were quotas for indigenous people, physically challenged. A total of 56% quota and the rest is merit quota). this protest already happened in 2018, i was a college/university (Americans call college, we call university) student back then and participated in the movement too. we mostly had problem with the 33% quota: for the offspring and grand children of freedom fighters. Because this quota has become a political instrument to stay in power. The Hasina government has been in power for the last 14 years and she has been able to do this mostly because of this 33% quota. That's why the general public is so angry on this 33% quota. our war happened a long time ago. so even the offspring of the war heroes are already grown up and not even eligible to sit for job exams due to old age. but now the quota also applies to the grandchildren of the freedom fighters. like why? because it is a political instrument for her. so it was kind of resolved in 2018. though we didn't really want complete demolition of the quota system, we just wanted to reduce it, Hasina however promised us that there will be no quota anymore. but in July, 2024, she again reinforced quota and called anyone "RAJAKAR" who was against the freedom fighter quota. (Rajakar is a bad word here, which indicate the people who helped the enemy in 1971 liberation war). so our parents weren't even born in 1971 but she says that somehow we aided the enemies!! how absurd. so the students got angry but still the protests were peaceful. but then she ordered her "chatroleague goons" to rough the students up. now, chatroleague was once a reputed political organization who were actually good. it consists of only students and non students are not allowed to enlist in the organization. but power got to them over the years and they have become worse than human sh*t. let me give you an example: in 2019 an incident happened in BUET (an engineering university in Bangladesh). a student of BUET named Abrar Fahad was beaten to death by 4/6 chatroleague members who were also students of BUET, in the middle of the night inside one of the rooms of the campus hostel. the reason was a simple facebook status by Abrar Fahad that criticized Bangladesh's overfriendliness foreign policy towards India. (bdw, most of us believe that Hasina is so long in power because of India's secret involvement in our politics.) so you get the picture. a student died inside the varsity campus and no one (not even varsity authority) took any responsibility. this is what Bangladesh has become. Hasina has bought everyone in every institute with the quota system. even bought the justice system. our opposition parties aren't any better. they would have done the same bdw. and we hate the chatroleague. killing abrar fahad is the least of their crimes. they have done far worse things than this. so in 2024 quota protest, as the chatroleague entered the movement, things took a bad turn. police killed students, chatroleague killed students. and after 5 students died the regular students got angry and threw everything that belonged to chatroleague members out the window from the dorms also made the chatroleague members leave the campus. this made Hasina very frightened. she never thought that regular students would go so hardcore against the chatroleague. btw almost every public university has an authorized chatroleague wing. they control student politics and most of them are related to the freedom fighters in some way. 3. what may happen now: it kind of feels heartless when i say this but this killing isn't anything new here. we often go missing, get buried, killed. our every institution has become a joke. so my guess is nothing will happen. because none of us has any weapon or back up to fight. but this incident surely shook her. Hasina was always hardcore but not like this. you know how any empire gets a big blow before it falls. this might happen here or not, only time will tell. for now most of the authority even Hasina is acting like they were always on student's side but it surely was not like this in the beginning, Hasina and her goons were literally sneering at the students and calling us names in the beginning of the protest even when few of the students died. but then when students got angry at the chatroleague she kind of got soft and started saying how the students are so good and stuff. and succumbed to the quota related demands. however many protesters are still missing or got taken by white uniformed police. the internet is very slow. we didn't have any kind of internet for the past 8 days. college universities are shut. 12+ hour curfew is happening. no one is talking about the countless lives lost on cable TV channels which are mostly run by Hasina's favorite businessmen. but pretty much all the cabinet members are sad because many cars and government properties were destroyed and they are blaming the opposition parties for it. the opposition parties always do this. they don't do anything themselves but use regular public's peaceful protests to create chaos. also Hasina made a major mistake. she used UN equipment to kill some students (watch DW report on it). Bangladesh is the 3rd major contributor to UN peace keeping missions. so we have tanks/ weapons etc. provided by the UN. using these equipment for such domestic peaceful protests is completely illegal. so i hope UN questions her for it. (sorry for the long comment)
Thank you so much for this insight ❤️ It's really heartbreaking, especially with the number of casualties and the use of words like "rajakar" is not good - especially in terms of anyone born after 1971. Especially not students.
As the Human population grows, and resources dwindle due to climate change and mostly human consumption, unfortunately we will see so much more unrest, protests, violence and death.
unrest, protests, violence and death is at an all time low. just some 300 years back most people would die before hitting 30. the present generation is the only abnormal one compared to all of our history

The scariest thing is that on social media I only saw like 2 posts about it, this video is a great source
@karo5719 thank you ❤️ I will be doing more coverage as information comes out.

As the Human population grows, and resources dwindle due to climate change and mostly human consumption, unfortunately we will see so much more unrest, protests, violence and death.
Most climate change is caused by NATO.
unrest, protests, violence and death is at an all time low.
just some 300 years back most people would die before hitting 30.
the present generation is the only abnormal one compared to all of our history
Unrest is not at an all time low.
@@mozillafirefay when was it the lowest?
@@orca_ballIf you genuinely believe any of what you just said I’d suggest doing some more research. Like a lot more.
