Technically speaking, there IS actually gold IN the helmet. I've seen some close up images and there are actually some gold flakes mixed in with the shell, but are kinda of hard to see. Kind of like what the Cardinals did with their black helmet (red flakes inside). It's a pretty cool detail.
Would really wish the Niners would wear the Silver helmets they wore for the 1964 season. If I'm correct it was the only season they did that. The pics are so cool because they had the SF logo on the helmet as well. Also, they wore unique jerseys as well with that helmet. Most Niner fans have no idea they ever had silver helmets and it really doesn't make any sense but it looks so damn cool. I really love the throwback unis they wear now and kinda wish the Niners would.make them their permanent ones. The white pants are just so clean and the all whites are just so damn cool. GO NINERS!!!!
It was the 1960-61 season that would be really cool if they brought them back. As well as the eagles wearing the white helmets and unforms from early 1970s I don’t think they’ve ever brought it back.
