That is the life that I witness and grew up in. My Name is Louis Papail Jr and I am sure that is my Dad Louis Papail Sr salting and icing the Cod Fish in the fishing plant on this CBC show call " Land and Sea". I was 9 or 10 years old then and most of the kids I grew up with and seeing their face back then it seems like it was yesterday. Us Newfoundlanders should be very proud of ourselves on how we lived during those times. Thank you CBC and to Peter's story. A film like this bring up many stories.
I am Norwegian and have all my life felt a connection to New Foundland. I hope I can see New Foundland before life is over. I understand very well that you are staying there! Beauty also means something to the human mind, not just the pursuit of money. As long as you have a roof over your head and a job to go to.
i fished with my uncle 50,s 60,s all handline fishing, there was a lot of fish then, wish it was still the same, not a fish left in the places we went, and would make 25 to 40 bucks a week....from 1 to 4 cents a pound then, it was great..nice show
