Granted, it's a different species, but I used to work with White-Naped Cranes at the Red River Zoo and they would sleep on one foot every now and then. So I seriously doubt it's a fluke in the game

There's tons of other content creators who do the vanilla game, but if you come to my channel please know that I have a wide scope of stuff I cover, not just vanilla but mod potential and content as well. I understand this may be a bit jarring seeing as we just got new DLC, but I love to cover the potential of it for players that do love to mod!

I actually really like platypus since it adds an actual wow element to this very mid DLC pack. I know they're meant to be nocturnal and quite ugly and not that exciting, but the platypus is a perfect addition to my zoos because it's another Australian species and another burrowing mammal and it even dives uniquely. The non-swimming Lechwe and the Flaming- *I mean Crane* were the biggest letdowns for me for the obvious reasons. I didn't have big hopes for the caiman, buffalo, and otter reskins, but they turned out looking good, and I could see myself using them more frequently than their original species or mods. The newt and capybara are obviously the big attraction, but I believe the platypus is the pack's true mascot of this pack. She's got a point, she's an icon, she's a legend and she is the moment. Now come on now...
it crashes, Leaf :( I knew that... even if I did everything you said, no mods on, empty store... after 1.9 I put back ACSE and a few 1.8 mods and it crashes sistematically :( have I to reinstall the game? what fun if I have to wait for a certain species to be updated 1.9, for months... if I had a huge zoo with hundreds of mods it would take me years... bah :(
I’m having the same problem! I emptied out my trade center and tried to delete any prop mods (I might’ve missed one because I used them a lot) I moved all my mods out of the folder. I verified the game after the update and it still crashes when I try to load my zoo. No worries! I’ll just keep checking for updates.
if you find some time 😂 i have to report you that some mods have a lil problem - andean, chilean... and so on flamingoes actually sink in shallow water, like hippos - green peafowl tend to stuck where they are placed. They do feed but don't walk 😂 a lil strange, they should be based on well tested official rigs btw congrats on the tiger shark and tunas, reeeallly so convincing!!! in does not happen often 😂
The pack is absolutely stellar! The otters, capybara, crane, and platypus are all showstoppers for me. The water buffalo is easily the weakest link as far as the animals go... But even those guys are fun! The enrichment items all look great and the new foliage is top-notch. My only complaint: Why do we only get one otter sign?!! It would have been nice to get an alternative pose (just standing/walking or swimming). Same with the lechwe too. Would have been nice to get a sign that was full body.
more to report on the crashes: - the game DOES CRASH SISTEMATICALLY WITH ALL THE MODS DOWNLOADED, ACSE INCLUDED, BOTH IN FRANCHISE OR IN SANDBOX MODE, AFTER A FEW MINUTES OR SUDDENLY IF I OPEN THE ZOOPEDIA (I bet because the zoopedia does not match with the animals you have, they are, in a sense, orphans...) - the game is restored to perfection and runs smoothly as I remove mods AND ACSE - probably the modded sandbox are lost, as it cannot be accessed to save it in any way - no need to reinstall, if you have issues - likely the issue involves the ACSE OR ONE/MANY MODS, not compatible with 1.9... as ACSE was released in february and never tested during a Frontier release, it could be the culprit - ONE SHOULD IDEALLY FIND OUT IF THERE IS A 1.9 VERSION OF ACSE or virtually update/check every mod for compatibility/release 1.9 versions - still to test the 1.8 ACSE alone with no mods, going to do that - upset. Baaah... one has to literally wipe out his zoos every season :(

You sure? Because I worked with White-Naped Cranes at the Red River Zoo, and they slept with one leg so I fail to believe Red-Crowned wouldn't

Any advice how to deal with mods today? Should I turn off ACSE or Freebuild? Or uninstall mods before updating?
I'd remove them all together, wait for us to test some stuff out, and just start a new zoo or something.

I would recommend verifying your game integrity.

I think frontier got confused the whooping crane sleeps standing up not the red crown crane
